My boyfriend and I saw this a bus tour but ,he could not let us get a pick because of angry block residents and limited street parking so we went back on our own. We caught the #5 bus from Downtown Seattle and it lets you off right over the bridge and you walk down the steps/path and it's on your left. It was worth it to view it up close and personal.

The Fremont Troll is a mixed media colossal statue, located on N. 36th Street at Troll Avenue N., under the north end of the George Washington Memorial Bridge (also known as the Aurora Bridge). It is clutching an actual Volkswagen Beetle, as if it had just swiped it from the roadway above. The vehicle has a California license plate. The Troll is 5.5 meters (18 feet) high, weighs 6,000 kg (13,000 lb), and is made of steel, rebar, wire and concrete.

We decided to stop here on the way to Gas Works Park.

The Fremont troll sculpture was located under the George Washington Memorial Bridge. The surroundings were residential but I preferred visiting in the day. Street parking was tight but was able to find a parking spot within a block.

The Troll appeared like it was crawling out toward the viewer initially grabbing onto a full size VW Bug. The Troll was much larger than I thought and strong enough to support people climbing all over it to take their photos. It was made out of concrete but starting to look a little worn.

Overall worth a quick stop to see this unique part of Seattle.

If you are headed down to Seattle and wanting something cool to do that's free, I recommend coming to see the troll bridge. There is free parking along the street or you could walk. It is about a 10-minute walk from gas works Park. you get some cool views of the underside of the bridge on one side and of course the troll on the other. There were several people there when we went and you just have to take your turn getting your picture with a troll. There are people there at all times of the day even when it gets dark. But it's in a nice location and there's not a ton of traffic on the street. It is a unique and cool piece of art.

I’ve been wanting to see The Troll for a long time and was not disappointed! So cool! The parking is interesting, but really a cute area. Also at the foot of hill are three metal goats! They are very cool!

Well not the entire wall, just a piece of it. At the bottom of Troll Ave there is a piece of the Berlin Wall and at the top you will find the Fremont Troll both are great photo opportunities. Troll Ave is all uphill from the Berlin Wall to the Fremont Troll. To find Troll Ave just head along N 34th St in the opposite direction from the Fremont Sunday Markets. It is only about a 5-10 minute walk. The Fremont Troll is worth stopping by if you are in the area.

Really best at night when you can explore and as a date and steal a sweet little kiss. Add to a nearby restaurant venue (see my other reviews Turkish food) for a full evening. Troll itself takes 6 minutes to admire, it's a REAL VW in his hand. Fun for those who love awkward fun free little things that you don't get enough of in the tourist world. Fun selfie and great art.

So, the troll is fun once or twice around. It loses the novelty when you live here and see it all the time - though my son still likes to get glimpses of it.

The issue with the troll is the people looking at the troll. People tend to forget that this is a neighborhood where people live and work and shop. The street that the troll is on is used for regular folks trying to get somewhere in their cars - but the visitors to the troll stand, in bunches, in the middle of the street, not paying a lick of attention to the traffic coming through. So I would ask that anyone viewing this review and planning to see the troll - please be mindful of the people who are NOT stopping to see the troll and remember that you are standing in an active street.

As for the troll - if you go during peak times (Summer, weekends) good luck getting a photo of the troll without 50 other people in the photo with you! The troll is one of the many fun little quirks of Fremont, by all means, go see it. But do yourself a solid and plan on seeing it during early Spring, Fall, Winter, or in early mornings during the week. These times will give you much better photo ops!

This dude is worth a visit if you're nearby, but please park your car and walk up to the troll. There were several near misses by drivers who were trying to photograph the troll instead of looking at the road just in the short time I was there!

Good for a photograph if you can manage to dodge the idiots climbing all over him (don't be that guy).

It's not just about the troll though. Go check out the Fremont neighbourhood, it's funky with some interesting shops and restaurants.
