Beautiful Volunteer Park is at the center of this wonderfully multi-faceted neighborhood, where Seattle's gay community and student population co-exist with older residents, historical mansions, up-scale restaurants and shops.

Many neighborhoods to explore and lots to see. Great restaurants and shopping. Take the street car, the bus or walk as parking is challenging. Unfortunately there are homeless lying on the streets and open drug use.

Capitol Hill has wonderful homes and landscaping but the side streets turn into one way streets with on street parking on both sides. Would not want to have to park a car on the street.

Fun, artsy/quirky neighborhood with lots of record stores. Everyday Music had just about every genre you could think of and lots of DVDs as well. Elliot Bay books is across the street and the kind of place you just want to spend the whole day...More

I went up to help our daughter move to Capitol Hill and was so happy to see what a lovely neighborhood she is in. The homes are breathtaking so I highly recommend talking walks through this area. Broadway is a fun street with great restaurants...More

We walked from Pacific Place to Broadway. The main purpose was to visit the Jimi Hendrix statue, which was good (if a bit understated), but we also walked part of Capitol Hill. Nice area - bars, eateries and green spaces (with the obligatory fountain that...More

The buildings in the Capitol Hill area are a nice mix of old and new and allows you to see the changes this neighborhood has gone through. There are some areas that still need a little help but most areas are clean and well populated....More

Lot's of everything in Capitol Hill. Food, drinks, parks and style. No the best place to bike ride if you are out of shape.

I was told that Capitol Hill was the gaybourhood of Seattle... that must have been years ago. There are still some rainbow flags and a couple of sad gay bars but it's not worth it to stay here as you'll spend most of your time...More

Trip report Seattle/Vancouver/Whistler (7 Replies)
Just got back, thought I offer what I learned, hoping to save someone hassles/money. Priceline and Hotwired hotels, used Kayak for flight. 2 days Seattle, 3 days Vancouver, 2 days Whistler. Flew in to Seatac at around 8am, family of 4. Had contemplated using Link Rail from Seatac to downtown, then bus to hotel. Not worth the hassle with kids and luggage. Went with Aces car service again. $45 flat rate + tip, clean, on time town car, professional driver. Used them last year when we were...More

Wow! You sure packed a lot in to your time here! And you were here during the heat wave by the sounds of it. Much cooler now, thank goodness! And yes, our gas is a horrible price. It is actually cheaper on Maui, or any Hawaiian Island than it is here! For anyone else reading this report, do make use of your debit card and withdraw Canadian cash from an ATM machine. You will get a much better deal than handing over your US dollars at par. You do want to check with your bank though, to...More
