This should be on your list of “Must Do’s”. A fun and entertaining 1.5 hour tour with a few stairwells and a bit of undulating footpaths and alleyways. Wish more cities had this quick type of intro to city’s history especially the shady or underbelly side. Our guide provided an entertaining guide to the history of Seattle whilst making commentary appropriate for all ages. Fascinating to be under the city and to see areas that were functioning 100 years ago as part of everyday life. Tour was so much better than I expected and highly recommend taking a beer or two to the first 1/2 hour performance; the bar is worth coming to early before your tour.

This tour is a great history lesson of the city of Seattle, starting with the great fire in 1889. The city was rebuilt, this time in brick resulting in the beautiful buildings we see there today. Our tour guide was Adam, who was a great guide & comedian, he made the tour come alive with his stories. The tour lasted over 90 minutes, and certainly was great value, we loved it!

The tour begins on the 2nd floor of the Howard building, which in itself is a historic building. It was designed immediately after the fire of 1889 and has been attributed to Elmer Fisher, who is known as Seattle's most prolific architect. It is important as one of the earliest buildings that helped to define the triangular Pioneer Place. There were two tour guides, Angie and Calen, who gave a good introduction of how Seattle got built, and then led us underground with their separate groups. Our group was led by Calen.

The tour isn't for the physically challenged; you don't need to be in shape for the Olympics, but you do need to climb steep stairs and walk through narrow passageways.

Most of the history was fascinating and told in an slightly over enthusiastic manner by our guide. It's not a continuous walk underground, the tour comes up to the street level and descends again a couple of times. There's a lot of junk down there, probably left for their historic value. By his own admission, Calen's jokes won't make you burst out in laughter holding your stomach, but he did provide good narration of Seattle's history, which having lived here for 4+ years, I didn't know. By the end of the tour, I really came to admire the indomitable spirit of the early settlers, and the pioneers who helped build the beautiful city that we know today. Yes, it rains incessantly here, but at least you're not shoveling a foot of snow every day.

You go through a gift shop at the end of the tour that sells the usual mementoes, most of which aren't related to the underground tour. The guides wait there for any questions you might have, and also appreciate any tips you might want to make.

Recommended if you've about 90 minutes to spare and want to do more than just taking pictures of the Space Needle.

On our first day in Seattle, we booked this tour upon the recommendation of someone who had taken it and it did not disappoint. Our tour guide TJ was very entertaining and informative. The history of the city of Seattle was especially interesting when it was presented by T.J. He also paced it perfectly so that everyone could get photos if desired. Though we did not have any children with us, the children and teens in the tour group seemed equally entertained.
If you are thinking of taking the tour, I recommend doing it your first day in the city as it will give you a bigger appreciation for what it is on ground level.
We later booked a tour city tour with another company and all we kept saying was that the guide with that company was no where near as entertaining as T.J.

No mention of masks on the website. Show up and forced to buy a mask, with signs saying masks are required indoors statewide. That is a flat out lie and has not been in place for months. Tour itself was fine, but if they are not going to be up front about requiring masks and then lie about the reason, i cant promote or recommend this for anyone.

Excellent tour ~ Adam F.

Extremely entertaining with great Jokes ( family friendly ) and a wealth of information.

My husband told so many people about it after we went to our business meeting the next day. A lot of locals in Seattle haven’t been on this tour but want to go now.

We learned so much about Seattle and it’s history.

The hour and 1/2 flew by. The walking tour took us behind doors that opened up to the tunnels beneath the City streets.

We had quite a few people on the evening tour with us and Adam made sure he included all of us in his excitement of the stories he shared.

I would recommend this tour to everyone.

A “ must do .... “ while sight seeing in Seattle.

Thank you,
Carol and Bill Lovejoy

We took an evening tour, the 75 minute underground historical one (not the haunted one) with Lisa. It was great! Lisa clearly knew her information well and enjoyed sharing it with us. She was very funny and entertaining, keeping our attention well, but also made sure we knew to be safe, watch our step, etc before entering a new place. Loved the experience! I recommend going on a cool day as I would imagine the rooms get pretty stuffy when it's hot out. Make sure you book well in advance as things fill up fast. Easy place to find too.

Should have read reviews contrasting this experience with the other provider's small group tour available. 60 of use or more, like a huge herd of cattle - which made picture opportunities impossible and scramble to keep at least somewhat near (but not too much, she had to 'project') the leader to at least hear what was said. Our guide was a natural performer but with such a large group she didn't have a chance to impart anything beyond short and canned. The into itself was the best 15 minutes of the experience along with a little history cum gift shop at the end. The rest - walking though what's turned into a trash pit basically for the businesses above. Don't want a toilet - toss it here, elevator 86? Throw it there. Shuffling quickly through you don't experience the actual facades or sense of what the space once was and that would have been the interesting part. This particular large group format might be something you need to endure to say you're done it, but if the alternative is available, you're much better off seeking that out.

The underground itself was very interesting. However, the group was rushed through it with little opportunity to absorb the environment or take pictures. If the guide spent less time doing a stale stand up routine, while forcing the group to stand in one spot for too long, we could have enjoyed a more leisurely pace. The worst part was the really bad shtick. Offensive and hackneyed jokes, misogynistic interpretation of women's roles in the underground were tone deaf. The guide seemed to have a need to be the center of attention, rather than the attraction itself. The shameless request for tips was the final insult. Save your money.

Shane was hilarious! This tour really made my week in Seattle the best it could be. Throughout the rest of my time in the city, I'd tell my friends the crazy stories behind the names of such famous streets. I even visited the graveyard where the founders were buried. This group really captures the zany charm of Seattle then and now. I highly recommend this tour and suggest you go on it first thing when you get to Seattle. I got recommendations from Shane and others afterward, who directed me to see amazing sights! These folks really know their city.
