Old part of Seattle.

This is the old part of Seattle many nice bars to go have drinks. A few hotels also but it's a cool place to stop for a drink.

Pioneer square is worth a quick visit to see the statue of Chief Seattle and the Totem Pole. Also the famous Underground Tours start here.

We passed through Pioneer Square on several occasions looking for the Underground tours and the Klondike Gold Rush museum which were both great, and for art galleries, which we couldn't find many. Unfortunately, the area is full of homeless people, especially in the eastern part of the area (just east of Pioneer Square) Walking in the area us very unpleasant,... More

My husband and I walked from Pike Place to Pioneer Square. The buildings on the main street, First Street, were refurbished and lovely. We wandered a couple of blocks to find the waterfall gardens park and were not impressed (and we never did find the park). We passed a lot of people sleeping on the streets (it was the middle... We liked walking around this area of Seattle. We decided to take one of the walking underground tours of Seattle. It was really awesome seeing some of old Seattle preserved under the existing city above and learning about the history of the city.

Some nice shops but less than ads led me to believe. Nearby were several interesting antique stores but yo had to search for them and many were no longer in operation.

History is preserved in Pioneer square in that the buildings have been refurbished and cleaned up to their original appearance. There are several places to eat, drink and be merry. Also, there is the underground tour for a little different prospective on the area.

This area has a lot of attractions and restaurants, but we were continuously hassled by panhandlers as we walked down the street. I'm not sure what the solution to this would be, but it is not an area that I would seek out again.

We went down to Pioneer Square to take the local underground tour. Pioneer Park is an artsy neighborhood much like those metro-niches so often seen in movies. It is was so much fun walking through the shops and eating at the local eateries. Pioneer Square is one of those places to go to get away from the fast-track, pre-fab culture... More
