Dropped by for a quick visit. The walls and ramparts are tall and imposing, the structures still well maintained. Not very pretty, but there is an honesty in the way it has been built. Nothing much to do other than to wander around and perhaps...More

The mediaeval city of Provins is nice and the walk along the city walls is nice, though tiring in the full sun and +40C(!).. make sure you are prepared. But it is nice to walk down the walls or along the top

A great view from the ramparts which once circled medieval Provins. It must have been magnificent 800 years ago, imposing and powerful. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water and let your imagination run wild. From the ramparts you can wander into the old quarter. Lots to...More

À Nice médiéval walk around the city. Really, a rare sensation that we have travelled back in time. Interesting ... very interesting

Saint-Jean's Gate and the ramparts provided us excellent views into the medieval past of Provin. We let our imagination wander while we walked up the lanes from the train station to the Gate, walked outside along a portion of the perimeter, and then atop the...More

Provins is a walled medieval city, so it has a gate which is a nice structure and it is still in great condition, the walls (the ramparts) are all around the city and you can go up the stairs and take a look at the...More

Loved Provins on the whole and this gate adds to its charm. Good spot to take a picture. Be sure to walk through it and explore the other side of the city

You can access the top of the gate/ramparts via multiple staircases on the interior of the wall. Very beautiful view of the country side. For me it was essential part of my visit to walk on the ramparts of the medieval city.

The older (9 and 12) kids loved walking along the ramparts, but there were a lot of stairs to go up and down so our five-year-old got a bit tired. Beautiful views of the countryside and the kids all said this was one of their...More

After walking through the excellent Tourust Information place we headed for St Jean's Gate and then followed the ramparts around to the Jouy Gate. The ramparts were impressively restored and it really gave the scale of the town's defences. At each gate there were steps...More

It's not a huge spot to visit ,just a small walk would suffice. Free to go on top of it, but what left there is merely a 300 m ish relic.
