Here at the Klondike Gold Fields in Skagway, Alaska, you can immerse yourself in the history and beauty of the Klondike Gold Rush. Visitors are transported back to the 1890s as our costumed staff meets, greets, guides, and entertains them. Our site includes everything from gold panning, to Iditarod sled dogs, to an authentic dredge and a chamber where you can experience 40-below temperatures. On site you can enjoy the many attractions and displays including a dress up photo shack, movies, and educational exhibits. There is also a restaurant and brewery to allow our guests to make a day of it at the Klondike Gold Fields. We aren’t just tours – we are an experience!

We visited as part of Norwegian Sun cruise. They had a variety of activities that everyone in the family can enjoy. We panned for gold and collected of $50 worth of gold! Of course the best part was visiting the sled dogs, learning about the Iditarod and holding the cutest puppies!

Went on a family challenge excursion with these guys and had a great time. Got to see and pet the sled dogs, pan for gold, feel what -40 degrees feels like, drink locally brewed beer and root beer, and enjoy smores and singing songs by a campfire. If you want to know about Dog sledding Matt is a great guy... More

We visited Klondike Gold Dredge Tours as part of our Royal Caribbean tours in Skagway. The tour was good value for money and we were kept entertained the whole time. The place is good for kids, and the gold panning was great. There is a shop at the end (like most tourist attractions in Alaska) where you can buy gifts... More

We chose this port adventure on our Disney cruise. I liked the variety of interesting activities. Our tour guide was Runaway Jim and he was very personable and a lot of fun. First, we met an old prospector and he showed us how to pan for gold. Next, the prospector and Runaway Jim put on a little show. Then we... More

If you are an adult looking for something to do on your port stop then you need to find another excursion. I however was traveling with my 2 children (ages 10 and 6) and we really enjoyed our activities! Fireweed Sally is a hoot and i enjoyed her personality very much! Matt, his staff, and his dogs were awesome! My... More

July 10, 2016 Young children would love the gold panning and everyone loves the dogs but the train ride was just alright. Matt and his dogs are the best part of this excursion!!!! Very educational and hands on. The puppies are perfect and to watch how the dogs train in the summer was great. Definitely will support Matt and his... More

Just off the ship we caught the SMART bus and paid the $5 all day riding around town. They dropped us at the Klondike Gold Fields and we paid for the all inclusive package for FAR cheaper than we would have paid on the ship and were lucky to be in a small group. We learned about sledding from Matt,... More

First of all, I should preface my review by sharing that we took the cruise to Alaska via Princess Cruises (7 day with stops to Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan). We booked our tour through the cruise (though did shop around online as well and found this tour to be reasonably priced/comparable). Secondly, I wanted to share the ages of those... More

Probably more ideal for families with younger kids. We really did this for the gold panning, but saw the dogs as an added bonus. Save yourself the headache of doing the other activities and go see the Dog Sled portion of this tour only. Matt has great stories and knows how to captivate his audience. I wish I could say... Thank you for your visit and review. We are absolutely a tour that is highly recommended for families with small children, and while adults may sometimes find the Gold Panning to be a bit "cheesy", the children who visit our site always have a great time with it. Our 40 Below rooms are specially equipped with two compressors, while a... More

My family of 4 picked this shore excursion mainly because it had a little bit of everything and relatively inexpensive compared to other activities. In reading the reviews I guess we were fortunate to be in a very small group of no later 20. We did not feel crowded except maybe in the freezer. The kids loved the dog sled... More
