Easy process to check in. Just a couple of blocks from port, easy walk plus you can go ahead and get some pictures on the walk of the Skagway sign and other statues. The interactive iPad starts automatically when you get to certain mile markers. There is also a notebook with additional information. The suggested spots were excellent choices. I thought we would only be about 3 hours but we took the whole day from 8-4 to drive the 74 miles to Emerald Lake and back. There was just so much to see to stop and take pictures of throughout the day. Definitely stop for the suspension bridge! We also stopped in Carcross and also went to the Dogsledding spot suggested in the notebook that is on the route. It was one of our favorite days!

Overall good experience. The pickup location was easy to find, paperwork short, and lunch was easy to pick up (and very tasty). The scenery is breathtaking. It was easy to cross the border, and the summit view is stunning. The guide was informative, and we thoroughly enjoyed learning along our journey. Last time in Skagway we took the train, so seeing the other side of the mountain was so cool. My only knock was that the “Jeep” was actually a Jeep Cherokee, not a Jeep Wrangler. I have a Wrangler at home, so it didn’t bother me as much, but I did feel like it was a little bit cheesy, as all their marketing material and website did have Wranglers in the picture. To their credit, they never promised a Wrangler, only a Jeep. And with the way tours have been affected in the past couple years, they certainly can be forgiven for operating anyway they can. If you’re looking for a unique way to see Skagway, I’d absolutely recommend this tour.

The rental process and the car were good and of course the Yukon ride was amazing. However 2 things you need to know: passport is required and the lunch that you obtain in the tour is to be picked up approximately 1 hour 45 min away. We had a tight time window with our cruise and hadn’t planned on going so far. We thought we stay close and hike nearby, but instead we had to skip the suspension bridge and run back because of the location of the lunch. If you have plenty of time I recommend the lunch because it was amazing! However, having a 30 minute delay in the border and having to run back to the cruise ship to get our passports had us forgoing the suspension bridge.

Another cautionary tale about using this company! Alaska Green Jeep Tours is not honoring contract. I made a reservation, paid $400 and then had to cancel because the cruise line change the cruise. I had only booked it for three weeks before I had to make the change. I requested the refund within their published terms and conditions. Received an email telling me that it would devastate them if I got my $400 back. I respectfully replied that I wanted money back because of the uncertainty of travel right now.
I have not heard back from them nor received a refund. I sent another email requesting a refund and have contacted my credit card company.
I do not support businesses that act this way.

This review needs to be updated or removed. All customers that booked with us for the 2020 cruise ship season have been fully refunded with no exceptions. We initially had a delay because of the vast amount of refunds, but we processed them all, and we are looking forward to getting back to business for the 2021 travel calendar.

Booked a jeep and they changed it to an SUV. When I called to say I wanted only a jeep, they said if I got there early, it was first come for Jeeps. I was the second person there and they said that was false information given to me. They also said they would consider giving a discount and we could discuss when I returned at the end of the day. When I asked about that, the young man said he knew nothing about that and I could write the owner. I did that, and was told no, no discounts or refunds. Lied to over and over again. I would not use this company. Use Affordable Car Rentals only $169 for the day and they bring it right to you.

The trip itself was good. Unfortunately, the audio portion was difficult to use as it kept wanting to start over. Perhaps more explanation would have helped.
We left a pair or binoculars behind. Shortly after, we called their number. They said they'd get back to us, which they never did. A couple of days later we emailed them, again with no response.

This is our second time to rent a jeep. The quality and cleanliness of the jeeps were excellent. The staff was friendly and thorough in their directions. We enjoyed listening to the audio tour for each stop. Driving through the countryside between Skagway and Emerald Lake was wonderful!

Booked about a month before we got to Skagway. Wasn’t sure what to expect but super easy to get to and find from the port (corner of Second and State. The jeep was new and clean, the tour was informative and the drive to emerald lake was breathtaking. Thanks for a great time!

Our group rented 2 Jeeps. The rental lot was easy to find (great directions), the vehicles were in great shape and clean. They provided an ipad with a driving tour app that was gps based and played thru the car's speakers. This was not my first time in Skagway; we have been on a bus tour, and the railway, and this was by far better than the other options to get up into the White Pass and the Yukon! And we saw a black bear by the road!

We also booked our trip very early so we could get the 4 door Jeep. 3 out of the 4 of us are over 6 feet tall so the added leg room was great. Heath and Jamie with their staff are very helpful. We had set it up so were would be picked up at the dock. We were able to fill out all the paperwork before we came to give us more time and they reminded us to make sure we had our Passports. They put in a few bottles of water and breakfast bars in the ice chest for us to eat. We optimized our time by shopping in town until the IGA/food store (only one in town opens @ 9am) and picked up food for a picnic. The mileage book they provided was great. As you are going down the road you could read all types of info about what you were seeing. We are able to make it all the way to Emerald Lake in the Yukon Territory. I guess it is emerald in color because it was still frozen in May. Bummer! It was about 70 miles from Skagway. Carcross and the sand dunes were fun but being able to go off road and have a picnic was a highlight. The BEST part was going at your own speed. You want to stop you can. Remember that at the end of your day you must fill up with gas. There is only one gas station so that isn't hard and it will take Credit Cards so any time will work. We picked up the Jeep at 8am- and returned it about 5:30pm. We took our time and it was a lovely day! Well worth the money and not being part of the herd from the cruise ship. A+ all the way.

Hello!
Which ship were you on? Did you have the interactive iPad? What time do you suggest starting? What was the weather like?
Thanks! We are going on June 17th

Hi!
We were on the Coral Princess and left May 8th, didn't see rain for the whole week! Temperatures between 8-14 degrees!
We did have the interactive ipad with the Jeep rental. I would suggest picking up around 9:00AM
Have fun!

How much can we fit in a day with our Jeep - Is this an over zealous plan--Suspension Bridge, Caribou Crossing, Carcross, Emerald Lake? Will have time to spend at each destination?

We took our time and picnic along the stop, stopped for bear crossing the road, visited Carcross Sourdough bakery. Very doable trip,

Hi! we have this tour scheduled during our cruise this coming August. Has anybody stopped at Caribou Crossing to do the dog sled ride? a dog sled ride is like number 1 on our list... so i'm just wondering about what time i should book that for? like what time we might end up getting to caribou crossing on our drive, if we pick our jeep up first thing in the morning. Thanks!!!

Renting keeps and driving was the best thing we did! We went to Caribou Crossing. We were there in July. There is no snow unless you are on a glacier. There were excursions to dog sled training area. Sleds were actually wagons and ran on wagon type wheels. Also, while we truly enjoyed the jeeps and the cross country road trip, there was very little actually in Carabo Crossing. Restaurants that were advertised as being open had not been open in years. We did find a great grill and enjoyed an excellent meal. Also enjoyed the general store Did not see anything about dog sleds while in the journey. We had three jeeps and 13 people and it was the most amazing family day. Enjoy.

Are these automatic jeeps or stick shift?
Carolyn B

Ours was an automatic. I don't believe they had any stick-shifts. It'd be way too difficult to drive the steep grades going and coming over the Pass & into the Yukon with a stick-shift.

Are they closed in wintertime? I sent them several mails for a reservation request in June 2017 but never got any reply :-(

I had same problem. I filled out the reservation form twice and never heard from them and got a strange busy signal when calling, but this week I decided to forget the form on their site and directly email them and they called me back in five minutes. I made a reservation for may 31st and promptly received a confirmation.

Did you feel comfortable driving without a guided tour in Skagway. Is there a chance that you might get lost ? Do they offer GPS?

We stayed on the main hwy, they gave us a map. There aren't very many streets, it would be hard to get lost.

Reviews for the Green Jeep Tour are stellar. We will be in Skagway all day, and want to also do the Ocean Raft Alaska tour (2 hours). What is a comfortable minimum time to allow for the round trip Jeep tour?

I agree with the response already provided. We had a great time and the scenery was terrific. Take time for lunch in Carcross. Wish we had taken short side trip from Skagway to Dyea. Make a day of the jeep tour or go rafting. Probably will be a good day either way. Have fun!

Hello, my family (8 people) will be cruising in Alaska, and we'll be in Skagway the week of Memorial Day. Is it cramped if you put 4 people in a 2 door jeep? Also, are there any good restaurants that we could stop at for lunch as we drive around? Thanks!
