This is a first rate experience for seasonal workers in Skagway, Haines, or Juneau! You get fair prices on the fastest transportation between points in Southeast Alaska, and you get the included bonus of wildlife watching if your captain Happens to spot some! The Alaska state ferry won’t slow down for you to take pictures! On top of this, you get a bus to take you directly downtown, with around 4 hours to browse and or do errands. They also serve some light snacks on both morning and afternoon departures from respected cities. Worth EVERY PENNY if your a seasonal employee and just want to get out and see something new, while also seeing the wonderful wildlife that abounds in Alaska!!

The experience was great. The Captain and Deck Hand (Ketch and Libby) were very knowledgeable, friendly and proficient while transporting us to Juneau. The ride was very efficient and were able to afford us a bit of time to enjoy some whale watching and pictures. The ride was smooth even when hitting a few rollers on the way back. Would definitely recommend Alaska Fjordlines if you are looking for a fun and efficient ferry ride to Juneau or beyond.

The Fjord Express was THE BEST for traveling the Inside Passage of Alaska. It was the most fantastic boat ride we have ever been on. We did the 4p "sunset" cruise from Juneau to Skagway and it was spectacular. This is a family run operation and the customer service is over and above expectations. Alison (owner) was helpful for planning several phases of our trek through Alaska and gave us tips that saved us time and money. We used their company to get to Mendenhall Glacier before our cruise to Skagway and the coordination was perfect. The Captain and First Mate of the cruise are laid back, easy going, fun, normal people!

A remarkable experience! To think, we could have taken the ferry from Juneau to Haines, but instead we booked with Alaska Fjordlines. It was one of the best choices we made on our trip. Libby and Glen were so invested in our seeing every bit of wildlife possible. They even put a microphone into the water so we could hear whales and it was absolutely breathtaking. It was unworldly to hear the whales first hand.
The boat was comfortable and provided for incredible photos! And the fish chowder...wow. It was SO GOOD! It was really special. Hopefully not a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but if so, I'm grateful for it!

You must take a boat cruise with Alaska Fjordlines! I signed up for a day cruise from Haines to Juneau and it was probably the best boat experience I have ever had. The captain was also our guide and gave us background information on all that we saw: tidelines, glaciers, eagles, whales, fishing fleets, lighthouses, and more! We saw two types of whales on our trip and that was breathtaking. I think the other element that made Alaska Fjordlines special for me was their kindness. They looked after us every step of the way and even took a slightly different route on the way back so that we could see the maximum amount of scenery. I am profoundly grateful I took a trip with Alaska Fjordlines, and I hope you sign up for a cruise with them as well!

The entire trip was unforgettable. We’re so glad that we went. We travel often as three life long friends and this rated as one of our highlights! The scenery is beyond beautiful! The boat is very comfortable and we had very smooth sailing because of the style of the boat. Ketch, the captain was so informative and was definitely great at spotting whales and other sea life. Lyndsee was a great help and hostess, always smiling. The team is super organized and everything was done on time and always in a safe manner. It’s great that there is a bus to take you into downtown Juneau. We had the pleasure of Dave as our bus driver. He too, was very informative.

The ride was a little rough due to weather, but the crew was excellent. The captain gave very good narration during the trip, and the two “mates” were friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend this 3 1/2 hour cruise.

I would take this trip to Juneau just for the ride. One of the best sightseeing trips I've ever had.

Unexpectedly delightful and magical, this round trip excursion to Juneau from Haines was amazing. I read the reviews before going and was impressed but taking the trip made me want a 6th star in the rating. We couldn't have had a better day for the trip and Captain made the most of it. The catamaran was an excellent vessel to make the trip but it was the crew that really made it special. The captain has extensive knowledge of the area and gave us every opportunity to exploit the trip. It was obvious that he loves this area and did a great job of imparting his love of the area to the passengers. I was able to get some of the best whale pictures of my entire life and I've done a few trips in the Alaska inside passage. Nothing has come close to this trip. If I only had one day to show someone what this part of Alaska is like, I would do this trip.

Our third around trip day cruise from Skagway, AK, to Juneau, was as exceptional as the previous two (2017, 2019).
The boat ride is very comfortable and the scenery is fantastic. The wildlife viewing keeps you on the lookout for the next humpback, orca, sea lion, etc. Oh, the photos we have!
The food onboard is very good. The morning muffin and early evening chowder is served to you and is very satisfying.
But overall, highest qualities come from the staff! They genuinely care about each passenger- answering the same repeated questions with care and offering information without being overbearing.
Kudos go to our crew of George, Libby, and Griffith, who made our day so very enjoyable. Thank you so much!

This was such an amazing trip! We so enjoyed seeing all those Humpback whales. They were so active and Captain Ketch knew right where to find them. He did a great job explaining how we could listen to his hydrophone to hear he whale’s song prior to coming up to feed. It was such a cool experience. The whale tails are amazing to see.
We enjoyed seeing the sea lions, bald eagles, dolphins too.
We were pleasantly surprised with how well we were taken care of - the muffin was delicious and my husband enjoyed the coffee to go with it. (I don’t drink coffee or tea, but it was available.)
We enjoyed our time in Juneau - we had a great meal at Deckhand Dave’s (on Captain Ketch’s recommendation.) Then we enjoyed shopping in the little shops
On the return trip we were treated to Fish Chowder, a piece of bread and a cookie.
Deckmate Hannah did a great job serving all the goodies, answering our questions and helping to spot the marine life.
We highly recommend this pleasant adventure!

We have taken this trip several times and have never seen any pets aboard, so my thought is no pets allowed.

Hi, We are cruising NCL in July and docks in Skagway at 7am-8pm. We would like to do this excursion, but worry that we won't make it back on time. Is there another ferry option to come back earlier to Skagway port, so we won;t miss our cruise ship?
Thanks, Lisa

Hello Lisa, This is a 12 hour tour excursion from 8am to 8pm. You could fly back to Skagway. I don't know of a boat that would get you back earlier however.

Hi Steve, did you book this through a cruise line? If not who did you book with and did you have enough time at the Glacier?
Thanks

I too booked online and found this convenient. This is a great trip and they will spend extra time on the water finding whales on the way back from Juneau to Skagway. I think Steven meant Haines, Alaska when he mentions picking up other people and not Haines Junction, Yukon. The smoked salmon chowder is delish and the operators are knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend! A++++++++++ Have fun!
