Completely enjoyed the train ride to Canada and the beautiful bike ride back down! Not much physical requirement. You will want layers of clothing and a backpack. I also took my Go Pro and got some great footage (you have to turn if off when crossing the border).

Great way to see a bit of proper, beautiful Alaskan scenery. The train ride up through white pass is pretty chilled (and chilly if you go in late September / October!) and a great way to see some amazing sights and learn the history of the Klondike gold rush(es) and the Yukons. The bike ride with Matt, Dustin and John was where this tour went from good to amazing. The scenery is amazing and the bike ride is simple enough that you really can have a good look around whilst you're descending back down into Skagway. The ride is about 15miles and we averaged around 25mph. The bikes were in very good working order so no concerns at all there. Dress warmly as it can be pretty cold at the top of the pass (it was about -1 when we got there, but then we did visit in October on the last ship of the season). Very friendly and informative guides. A great chance to see a bit of Alaskan scenery without exerting yourself too much. Doesn't require a high level of fitness since it mostly descent with one short uphill that can be walked if problematic.

Cruise ship dropped us in Skagway and had booked a cycle tour - having walked around Skagway and seen how mountainous it was all around I was thinking this was going to be tricky (especially as the description on the ship of the excursion was classed as moderate to difficult !) Was met at the end of the pier by PTaylor Carr with friendly greeting and driven to offices to pick up other person doing the ride - Yes only 3 of us in total doing the ride. Drove in comfortable people carrier for about 20 minutes whilst Taylor was pointing out interesting features (of which there were many) Stopped at Taiya River Bridge and were paired with suitable bikes and crash helmets - then began the hour and a half of brilliant views and conversations with Taylor and Susie about the views and everything else !! Just 3 people on the tour made it very personal and Taylor is a brilliant guide and very knowledgeable. Got back in town just as it started to rain so perfect timing. Would I do this again ? Probably wont go to Skagway again but thoroughly recommend this tour with PTaylor.

Took the summit to sea excursion on our cruise. Was transported to the summit in Canada by Sockeye and launched the descent to Skagway from @ 4000 feet. Dress warmly with layers for the top. Typical Alaska mind blowing scenery off both sides of the road of the ride. Two stops to keep the group together on the ride. We had fantastic guides who let us speed at the front (up to 35 mph for me), and did a great job "sweeping" the slower riders. The bikes were in excellent shape. The guides were super nice Highly recommend the company and the ride. But though it appears to be a pure descent there was a short climb in the middle that was challenging. Loved the ride and would do it again if we go back. If you're a biker, don't miss it!

Very easy bike ride to Dyea, a former gold rush town. We took a 20 minute ride to our staging area. The company had very nice bicycles and headgear, riding gloves and water. The guide was helpful to less experienced cyclists. The ride was about 5 miles, basically flat. Both guides were very knowledgeable of the history. I would recommend this trip.
