Packed with authentic time period history this offers a quick representation of life during the gold rush in Skagway. Most of the town is actually Park Service displays and interpretive museums. This is really a gem and doesnt take long to view.

It's easy to imagine newly-rich stampeders lining up to the bar and buying drinks for the house. This is not a place to spend much time, but it is an interesting place to visit. The artefacts, and bar fittings are great to see.

The National Park Service gives a great tour on the history of the building and of Soapy Smith. Be sure to visit the Visitor Center to get a ticket for the tour.

Free Ranger guided tour - Caylon was really enthusiastic and knowledgeable and it was a highlight of our stay in Skagway. Get your tickets from Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park Visitor Center on Broadway.

"Soapy" Smith is the stuff legends are made of. This con artist was a true character! Our ranger-guided tour was very interesting, and her assertion was he felt he was doing the prospective gold miners a service when he cheated them out of their stake;...More
