I can't say enough great things about Raymie and Midnight Sun Excursions! Our family had a cruise ship stop in Skagway so I had communicated with her several months in advance to arrange a van excursion for the 11 of us (6 adults and 5 kids ages 5-11). She met us at the port and we were delighted to also meet her sweet little dog Ella who came along for the tour. Raymie had prepared fun packets for the kids to complete and learn more about Alaska along the way. And they loved taking turns sitting next to Ella.
Raymie gave us some options to consider on our trip to Emerald Lake. We opted to skip the suspension bridge due to the rainy weather and low visibility. But we decided to stop and learn how to pan for gold and the kids were excited to each retrieve some gold flakes. We also did the dog sled ride which was fantastic and stopped for a lunch to go at a great restaurant in Carcross - The Bistro.
Raymie had lots of interesting stories for us about living in Alaska and we couldn't believe our day passed so quickly. She made it so fun for the adults and kids alike and took pictures of our family at every stop. She was a very careful driver and also made sure each of us had our passports at the start of the tour since the tour went into Canada.
We were returned to the ship in time for our sailaway with no problem, of course. And before we parted ways, each child got to choose a prize for having completed their Alaska packets. A++++ tour with Raymie and Midnight Sun Excursions! Don't hesitate to book. It far exceeded anything we could have booked through the cruise line and was much more cost effective - plus it was a private tour! Outstanding in every way!

We hired Midnight Sun Excursions for exploring Skagway and the surrounding area in May 2022. Raymie provided her expertise as a guide and resident of Skagway.
Our family had a great time viewing the amazing landscapes on our tour. Raymie was awesome and was adapted as a family member. :)
If you want an expert guide to explore Alaska, you can't do better than Midnight Sun Excursions.

We booked Midnight Sun Excursions in Skagway and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with Raymie. She was fun and very knowledgable about the landscape and history of the area. Since we were there in May, much of the area was still snow covered and we weren't able to experience several stops on the tour, but I was very impressed with how Raymie communicated the information prior to arrival in Skagway, and even made accommodations to show us as much as possible. Honestly, my family is from the south and we enjoyed seeing all the snow and a frozen lake. Finally, she was wonderful with our 6 year old son even played games and made him part of the tour. She even brought her friend Ella along on the trip to help keep him occupied. I highly recommend this excursion for anyone, any age.

I can’t believe how great our excursion was. We had been to Skagway before on a cruise and booked the White Pass Railroad because that’s what everyone tells you to do. Let me tell you there so much beyond the railroad in Skagway and you are missing out by not going to see it. We booked with Raymie and she was great. We told her what we wanted to see and then she expanded on that. We visited waterfalls and drank glacier water, a desert, suspension bridge, played with puppies at a musher’s camp, saw Emerald Lake and Torment Valley and so much more. We were traveling with my niece who has a pretty much nonexistent attention span. Raymie had activities to keep her engaged. She did a game with her to help her recognize what she was seeing, made pet rocks with her and a rock statue called an inukshuk. She is a natural teacher. When Gianna got back to the ship she told everyone about her day and how it was the best day ever. We saw several bears out feeding on dandelions and she let us spend as much time as we wanted viewing them. Never did we feel rushed. I know people are hesitant to book excursions from companies not affiliated with their cruise ship because you are told the ship won’t wait for you, but we told Raymie our all aboard time and she made sure we made it back in time, even allowed time for shopping. Our ship was in port for a short time (all aboard was 330) and we were able to accomplish all of this. Raymie is amazing and definitely gives one of the best tours we have ever taken. We have shared our experience with many friends and family and will definitely book again when we come back. Lifelong memories were created.

We were met at the pier by Raymie and Ella, her beautiful pup, and were given an overview of our 7 hour private tour. We started with a drive through Skagway then headed towards our final destination of Emerald Lake. We made stops at Bridal Veil Falls, The Yukon Suspension Bridge, Carcross for lunch, Carcross Desert, and Emerald Lake. The bridge was optional for a reasonable fee as was the Iditarod camp we stopped at. This was an absolutely stunning drive and Raymie provided a history as well as knowing all the great places to stop for pictures. At one point we stopped and she took out a scope and showed us mountain goats up on a mountainside. Raymie was a great tour guide and had a great deal of knowledge about the area and was attentive to what we wanted. I would give her 10 stars if possible and would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a great tour. We did the 7 hour tour but she has several available and is so much better than the RR excursion.

Finally able to experience this tour! I first booked for August 2020 and of course all travel was canceled that summer. We were finally able to travel and Raymie honored my deposit from 2020. Wow! This tour is great! Raymie was waiting for us when we disembarked from the ship. The van is very comfortable and clean. I loved that our group had a private tour. Raymie asked what we wanted to see/do before we left the parking lot, completed the form we needed to go through customs and off we went. She provided all kinds of information about the area, the flora, and fauna. She made sure to stop at scenic views and it was so nice to have her available to take pictures with us in the beautiful views! I actually have a pic of the train passing below us. We stopped in a native village for lunch. It was very good. Our cost for the full tour was $84/person. Great value for a stunning day! I highly recommend Midnight Sun Excursions!

We travelled with a group of 13 on Raymie's tour and everyone in the group really enjoyed the 7 hour tour. The tour van was very spacious, comfortable and had big windows so you can enjoy the scenic views from inside compared to others we have travelled in Alaska.
Raymie took us to the most scenic spots in Alaska and Canada so we could see and get the best pictures and views.
We really enjoyed our day tour with Raymie and would recommend her tour.
Thanks

Ray is incredible! She is so knowledgeable and passionate about sharing Alaska with others. We had an 8 person/7 hour tour to Emerald Lake and it was the highlight of my trip to Alaska. Ray shares the rich history of Skagway, personal anecdotes, and beautiful poetry throughout the tour. She is also a whiz at spotting wildlife- we were extremely lucky and saw 4 bears and a few eagles! Ray is the best of the best and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough!

Raymie was an incredible tour guide for our family of 11. She was entertaining and extremely knowledgeable about the history, plant life, and animal life of Ketchikan. Raymie was flexible and reordered our stops so we would have the best views and pics with the weather. All ages of our group loved Raymie’s storytelling!!

Raymie and Midnight Sun Excursions were recommended to us by another tour company that was fully booked and we are so glad we toured with her! We booked fairly close to our cruise date so were only able to do a 2-hour tour just beyond the US/Canada border, but she had so much knowledge of local history and as a naturalist, kept our young kids entertained, took family photos for us and was absolutely wonderful in general. We learned all about the history of the area, the gold rush, drank glacier water from Bridal Veil Falls, stopped at the Welcome to Alaska sign, and felt like we were on another planet visiting Tormented Valley. We would take another tour with her in a heartbeat if we ever find ourselves back in Skagway!
