A lovely Abbey that’s been well preserved by many hands over many years. Great Roman mosaic floor by the abse, too . Well worth an hour or two & a trip up the tower !

Very nice abbey, with fee entrance. Beautiful inside.
It has some lovely inner gardens, as well as a crypt where they keep the remains of Valerien.

Gorgeous abbey. Luckily we had a French speaker with us, as no English translations were available. We enjoyed our visit greatly.

Do not avoid visiting here.

Unless you speak fluent French get an audio guide.

Wonderful arches on top of massive columns.

Mosaics a plenty and don't miss the crypt.

Important historic monument, handsome and interesting
Jun 2019
This large church in a small town is well worth a visit. You enter an impressive vestibule and proceed through it to the even more impressive church. Everything is held up on huge stone columns, taller inside the main church than in the vestibule. Overhead are arches and vaults covering the building, with the central ones supported by perpendicular ones in the aisles. This was an ingenious solution at the time---the eleventh century. How many other buildings have you ever seen from the eleventh century?? There are also remains of the adjacent buildings that were in use when this was a monastery. Be sure to stop here if you are in the area.

Most info in the abbey was in French so we rented audio guide from tourist office across the street. The guide explained history of church and village. Interesting

Large and majestic church in a samll town of Tournus is a must if you travel to the south. I recopmmend to leave the highway for about an hout, visit St Philibert 'there is another old church from 9th century in Touornus, but well hidden and not much impressive except for real specialists - my wife was happy, I looke at this building with respect). Have been to soutrh Burgundy several time, never miss this visit (and I am no catholic)

1000 years old !!

This is an amazing building to visit in a lovely town. Plan to spend the day when the market is on and enjoy the whole area. To find that it is 1000 years old in 2019 was amazing. Very calm, peaceful and thought provoking. Don't miss the crypt and mosaics.
