Paray Le Monial is a lovely little town to walk around and explore and the Basilica is no exception!

Romanesque sublimity
Mar 2019 • Friends
The Basilica was built by the monks of Cluny and very sensitively restored in the 19th Century. It is a wonderful and memorable example of sublime romanesque architecture, complemented by some striking modern furnishing, in which the worship of God goes on, its purpose thereby being fulfilled even today.

Whether the visitor is motivated by worship or architecture or both, church (and town) are well worth a detour.

This is my third visit to the Basilica and it never disappoints. Grounds are stunning, the town is clean and welcoming and the people are more than friendly and helpful

The weight of history
Apr 2019 • Couples
Near perfect, although much altered, basilica attached to a working monastery and surrounded by other religious establishments.
It's a building of beauty but, more than so many, you feel it's busy and a workplace. The hush is real and reverential.

Majestic !
Mar 2019 • Couples
Stands tall along the canal waters with a lovely and well-maintained garden. The interior is serene and refine. Very conducive for a praying moment. Around the area, there are Chapel for Adoration, a park for a pleasant walk, a souvenir shop and the village center.

It is worth to visit. The architecture is terrific and surprisingly well preserved. It is like you are going back to medieval.

Basílica románica

It’s the most important great architectural building in Borgoña and also the o e that from the architectural point of view it’s the most interesting due to its dimensions. In the center of the village it’s a nice place to visit, you will not find a barroc decoration inside, clean lines, high columns and natural light gives simplicity a special beauty. At night with light it’s also a good place to just walk around.

A Delightful Walk thru the Town
Jul 2018 • Couples
This was the last town on our 6 night barge journey. We visited a few of the designated sites, but strolling around this lovely town was just delightful.

Refredhingly Viewable
Jul 2018 • Couples
This is a building worth a visit even if you are not 'of the faith'. Impressive architecture, well lit naturally, impressive stained glass, mosaic in places, and the very local inlaid pattern tiles.

The whole site is well laid out, accessible, clean and well signed.
