About
El Silencio de Los Angeles Walk - Walk around with your head in the clouds as you step into… the heart of the cloud forest with our own nature interpreters who will unveil a secret world of rich tropical life all along this 3 kilometer user-friendly trail. Located right on the hotel property, the trail was created by our hotel’s professional nature guides and is designed to showcase a variety of tropical flora and fauna as it winds its way throughout this rare and incredibly diverse biosphere. As a part of only 2.5% of the planet’s remaining cloud forests, this unique forest habitat continues to amaze our hotel guests and guides, as well as the trained research scientists from INBio (The National Institute of Biodiversity), who stablished staff the first research station to operate on a hotel property in Costa Rica.

Beautiful vistas with 2-3 km of trails through the forest.

I was drawn hear by free trails and parking and good reviews close to San Ramon. The resort itself is very upscale, I imagine expensive but didn’t check prices. The restaurant is expensive, upscale USA prices. A small avocado & shrimp salad with Pellegrino bottle and craft IPA was $30. If you go for the free trails and short hikes, bring your own lunch or experience the very nice ambience in the lobby bar. Be prepared for about 6 miles of very rough road, but totally negotiable by car. There was a large wedding happening on the Saturday I went and there were many vans and sedans.

Impressive
Feb 2020
We visited in February 2020. The guide was knowledgeable and very friendly. We were on our own, not in a group, so it was easy to ask questions and the guide was happy to practise his English. I am not great with heights but I loved crossing the bridges and felt very safe. Only the longest one worried me but I am sure it was fine.

Lots of options
Feb 2020 • Couples
Many different trails and some that can be done at night. All are possible without a guide but you see so much more if you have one. Night walk is particularly recommended.

Great Nature Walk
Dec 2019
We stayed at the Villa Blanca Hotel and the walk is right on the property. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we really enjoyed the experience.

We didn't do the night walk but I spoke with other hotel guests who did it and they said it was very good because a lot of nocturnal animals were spotted.

Beautiful reserve
Mar 2019 • Couples
We were staying at Villa Blanca so were able to take full advantage of the reserve both with and without guides. The guides are extremely knowledgeable and informative. There was not a great deal of wildlife to see on the day tour but it was still a joy to walk through the forest, The night tour was amazing! Frogs, spiders (including a tarantula), an opossum, and much more.

Highly overpriced
Feb 2019 • Couples
Based on other reviews we were really excited about going to this cloud forest. I guess if you have never been in this type of vegetation you could be a bit enthralled with it. The reality of the tour was that with the exception of a butterfly, a large bird and hummingbirds feeding from sugar water feeders there was no wildlife to be seen. If this tour were $15 I don't think it would be worth the trip. At $29 for a 90 minute walk there is no question about it. Costa Rica has beauty all around for free. The tour guide was a very informative and pleasant. The botanical garden just north of Sarchi is MUCH easier to get to, reasonable and surprisingly beautiful.

This is a beautiful place, very relaxing. It is amazing to see the clouds rolling in around 5PM and then staying there till they clear up when noon comes around the next day. The air is humid, but crisp - loved it

Didn't even know it existed!

We were driving down from Arenal to San Ramon and didn't know what we were in for. Wow. The cloud forest is spectacular. I suggest you find it and drive through, stop and take pictures and enjoy being in the clouds. You won't regret it.

Misty Magical Paradise
Jul 2018 • Couples
The journey getting there made the arrival even more magical. The GPS didn’t know how to get there, because I was searching and asking local for the name of the trail, not for the Hotel Villa Blanca. You have to go down 7 miles down two dirt road speckled with rocks the size of grapefruit. Take an SUV. The hotel and its surroundings are simply magical. The clouds did their misty mystical job superbly. Our tour guide Kathrine was already finished for the day but agreed to us on an abbreviated tour of Silencio de Angeles.
