Fun travel stop
Aug 2019 • Family
Stopped here on our drive between the Pacific Coast and Arsenal Volcano. Waterfall and water slide were a great way to cool off and take a break between windy mountain roads. Lunch was very meh, and service was incredibly slow. Even for the country. Skip it and eat in San Ramon. Or bring lunch and sit in the fun cabanas around the property.

Fun stop
Jul 2019 • Family
Driving from La Fortuna it's 2 hours. We had the Waze app and had no problem finding it. All roads there are paved, albeit the last 2 or so miles are bumpy. They have a small parking lot at the entrance. Cost is 3000 colones pp for foreigners. We paid in US dollars $22 for 4 of us pretty much what the exchange rate is. I'd go with exact change (small bills) if you aren't paying in colones. They will give you change for US in colones.

At the entrance there is a place to eat. We didn't go there. From the entrance you have to walk down about 45 steps (concrete with railing) then down a paved sloped walkway to get to the bathrooms and pool.

The bathrooms were clean. Plenty of room to change in the stalls. There are showers outside to rinse off before going in the pool.

The pool is large with a water slide that you have to climb up about 3 stories up a slope to get to the top. The kiddie pool is round and a decent size. There are picnic tables and benches. No loungers.

It is another 300 feet down a steep slope (paved) to the waterfall. There is a landing area for pictures then about another 30 slippery muddy steps down to the water. You should have water booties as the entrance is rocky.

I wouldn't make a special trip here but if you need a stop during a driving day it's a decent choice. We were on our way to San Jose which is about an hour away.

INSIDER TIP
Mar 2018 • Friends
This great property is a real insider tip. We were here duingr a Thursday and were almost alone. The Big slide is fun and the swimming pools are a convenient size. There is a small children pool and you can bring your own water toys. The showers and toilets on-site are pretty aged but not a problem. The best part is you can either take a 3k-hike around the trails which leads you to the waterfall or take the direct way from the pools which is only 100m. It is an amazing experience to bathe in the waterfall, a piece of driftwood served as a natural bench directly under the clear water that is rushing down. We also saw a restaurant and zipline on site which we did not try. Definitely recommend these facilities with non-tourist pricing (only 3000 colones!).

Nice hike and beautiful waterfalls

Quaint and charming place. You can swim and hangout with the locals at the pool and waterslide or hike the trails and soak your feet in the water below the waterfalls. Restaurant serves decent food. Everything is very inexpensive including admission.

A great local place for kids & family to unwind
Sep 2016 • Family
This is a great was to spend the day at the swimming pool and out in nature all at once, and is quite popular with the locals.

Imagine a couple of nice swimming pools in the middle of a lush natural atmosphere. The pools, are a very big one, and a second very large kiddie pool. Along the side is a trail down to the base of a lovely waterfall that can be heard from the pool area. A lot of little birds and wildlife visit too.

The swimming area is surrounded by little ranchos that can be rented. , A rancho is a small open air roof that has some type of cooking facilities and is for entertaining (BBQ, outlets, sink, table, chairs). So it is easy to hang out with the family in the rancho, and still have the kids in the pool very close and in direct line of sight. The ranchos are rented for c10,000 or about $20 for the day. Admission to the park is about c3000 ($6) for adults and c2000 ($4) for kids. There is also a restaurant just outside the entrance to the park area. I didn't eat there, and it's slightly more expensive than average, but not too bad.

There is a waterslide, and it is fast. I would not recommend it for children younger than 10. I went down it once, and that was enough. It was fast enough that I didn't feel inclined to repeat the performance, though I did make the mistake of going down the first time in laying down position, which, to be fair, does tend to increase ones speed. If you kids are 10 yrs and above they will probably love the slide. The pools themselves are really nice places to swim, and the ambient nature is so much nicer than the "cement island" feel of a real official waterpark.

While this is listed as a waterpark, I wouldn't call it a waterpark in the way that term is use in the USA, meaning it doesn't have a more than one slide or any rides. It is a park, as in park and recreation area, with a couple really nice pools nested above a natural waterfall below. at the pools there is one big curvy waterslide. There is also a soccer field if you hike above, but why would you ?

Las muses can be very hard to find. The turn for it is not far past the blue bilingual school on the left (turn is also on left). Then on a rough road for a long time. There is signage, but it is minimal.
