Since it has been raining for the last three days nonstop we were hoping that we could take a helicopter trip however the weather wasn’t looking great. I called Janielle yesterday as it was pouring rain and discussed options for if and when the weather cleared today.

I was on the phone several times today with Alissa discussing weather updates and coordinating possible options for a flight between visiting the sea center and hiking to exit glacier.

One of the things I was most impressed by for us was Alyssa‘s flexibility due to the ever changing whether because of the rain and win the last few days flight predictability was very irregular so we stayed flexible and in touch as we were doing other things locally. After dinner tonight I got a call that the pilot Mike said the weather had cleared and it would be a good time to go flying. So we headed out to the airport at 7:15 pm and had a great hour long flight with a stop at Godwin glacier. Since it has rained 12 inches in the last 3 days the water flowing through the glacier what is the fastest and most of what Captain Mike had seen previously. All the rain that we have had here in the last three days made for a lot of beautiful waterfalls and scenery.

The flight over Bear glacier and the ice in the water nearby as well as looking at the crevices in the ice and the Harding Icefield field was truly a spectacular site.

We had a great flight and felt very safe with Mike’s piloting skills. He was also very informative of what we were seeing as we flew over several different glaciers, the Harding icefield and saw mountain goats and by the eagles on the hills and even the most maximum security prison in the state of Alaska which is just across the bay from the town of Seward.

We would highly recommend marathon helicopters and greatly appreciated the flexibility to fit us in when the weather allowed us to fly.

This was an awesome experience that I will not forget. Walking on a glacier was a "bucket list" item of mine for many years. The Marathon Helicopter tour folks were the best, professional, and very knowledgeable about the entire area. The pilot was engaging and fun to fly with. The ground guide on Godwin Glacier was extremely intelligent and answered all of our questions. The entire experience made memories that me and my family will never forget. You need to do this while visiting Seward.

Thanks Roberta, We love working with Exit Glacier Guides for a hiking adventure on Godwin Glacier. Seward is located in such a great spot where we get to fly around these awesome sites every day! Thank you for the nice review.

Awesome!!! We rented two helicopters for four of us and combined two different 30min glacier tours together for one exciting helicopter ride to and around several glaciers. The combined tour included landing on a glacier and spending 15minutes walking, climbing and drinking the pristine water and ice. We saw plenty bears and mountain sheep.
Wonderful company and experience.
Don't pass up this adventure!

Simply the best adventure of our lives! Mike the owner/pilot was amazing as he showed us the glaciers, animals, and stunning beauty in the area around Seward. We saw Dahl Sheep, bears, moose, otters and seals as we flew for one hour in the most beautiful area on the planet. We added on a beach landing by the crystal clear waters in the lake below Bear Glacier where wildflowers covered the ground and hundred of icebergs floated majestically in the blue water. We have traveled the world and flown in helicopters on the Napali coast in Kauai and elsewhere and this trip far surpassed the other wonderful adventures. Felt totally safe with Mike at the controls and my wife and I both give this trip the best review possible! My wife said she smiled so much her cheeks hurt:)

Easily the highlight of our week long trip through Alaska! From start to finish, Marathon Helicopters did not disappoint. Mike (pilot and owner) was an incredible guide and put non-stop smiles on everyone's faces. We got to land at the terminus of the Godwin glacier for an absolutely surreal experience. Honestly, we'd like to come back to Seward just to do another flight.

WoW! What an incredible experience! Yesterday (early September) we scheduled a 15 min helicopter tour with glacier landing through Marathon Helicopters and it was all that and then some! Mike, our pilot, was fantastic. The ride was honestly more than what we expected; the scenery is BREATHTAKING and I was just taking it all in… then he’d point our attention to a moose, or bears, or dall sheep, or… the list goes on. It was approximately 15 min total in the helicopter and then 15 min at the glacier.

I can’t stress enough what an incredible memory that will be… my only regret is we didn’t book a longer tour.

We took the amazing one hour expedition scenic flight early June. It was absolutely spectacular and my husband & I were mesmerised. Mike was an awesome pilot and host, showing us the best of the Kenai Fjords NP and the Seward area. The staff were all wonderful and welcoming. This is a truly wonderful once in a lifetime experience!

Alaska can not get any more awesome…until you get into a helicopter and see it from the air! This tour was just excellent from start to finish. Kalani was so helpful when I called asking a million questions setting up our tour a few months ago and again when we arrived this evening. Mike was an excellent tour guide/Pilot. The views were once in a lifetime and I don’t think anything can top our trip now. We unfortunately didn’t see any animals (with the exception of a whale for a few seconds), but the breathtaking scenery made up for it, in my opinion.

We booked the 1 hour flight tour with a 15 minute landing.
Book this tour-I know it looks expensive, but you will not be sorry!

Stop right where you are and look no further for helicopter flights! Mike is the most skilled pilot around. We can’t say enough about Mike, Kalani and the rest of the staff. Here are a few descriptive words: conscientious, reliable, knowledgeable, communicative, personable, flexible, friendly, skilled, customer service related - the list goes on. The office staff is ready and willing to help with your individual needs. Sometimes inclement weather pops up that no one is happy about, but Mike is on top of it all, communicative and ready to reschedule as soon as possible. He won’t let you down. You and your passengers are in completely capable hands. Did I mention Mike is a all round nice guy yet? Anyway, if you are looking for a flight in a helicopter, Marathon Helicopters is the only way to go!

Literally the highlight of my vacation. The owner Mike Culver and staff could not have been any more nicer if they tried. We flew out to Bear Glacier and he dropped us off on the beach to walk and take photo's. We saw Waterfalls, Bears, Otters, Seals, Eagles and Mountain Goats. I probably took 50 pictures. Mike was very informative about the area and the wildlife. Told us about the history of the glacier. The blue icebergs were beautiful. He took us on an almost brand new helicopter. Leather seats and just had the FAA certify it. If you are in Seward, you need to call Mike and his staff to schedule a flight. It will be the highlight of your stay in Seward. If I could give 10 stars for a review I would. Thanks Marathon Helicopters ! A++++

Wow Brian! That is one heck of a nice review!!!! I have been telling everyone about those 3 curious otters every time we land out there. The glacier lagoon has changed a bunch since you visited as the outflow river has finally broken through the beach. Thanks for joining us and adding to my own Alaskan experience. -Mike
