In July 2021 we (two twenty-five year old friends) embarked on a 3 day / 2 night kayaking trip to Aialik Bay with Adventure 60 North. We started off with base camp in the magical Abra Cove, offering breathtaking views of the bay, Aialik Glacier, mountains in the distance, and waterfalls throughout the cove. An afternoon kayak to the glacier was a treat, and waking up the next morning to the sun peaking over the cliff surrounding our base camp was special. On day 2 we had a beautiful kayak up to Bear Cove and then across the bay to Quicksand. Immersed in wildlife with humpbacks, orcas, seals, otter, puffin and so much else, we could not have asked for a better day. A quick dip in the water at Bear Cove and a nap in the afternoon sun was also great! We closed out the trip on day 3 with a leisurely morning of coffee and breakfast and a scenic paddle to McMullen Cove. A journey of a lifetime.

Adventure 60 North was fantastic throughout the entire process from booking the trip, to assisting with gear preparations, to teaching proper safety techniques, and ultimately to ensuring a perfect adventure. If you are looking for a kayaking trip in Alaska, go with Adventure 60 North! The town of Seward was also our favorite stop on our multi-leg vacation.

Now to the highlight of our trip, our guide Megan. First, she expertly curated a customized trip based on our preferences that resulted in the unbelievable experience outlined above. Next, despite being two inexperienced campers, not even for a second during the trip did we feel unsafe or unprepared. Proper safety techniques and camping skills were taught in the pre-trip meeting as well as during the adventure, and we had absolute confidence in Megan’s guidance and support. Finally, she was genuinely a joy to hang with and we truly enjoyed every bit of chit chat and banter with her from start to finish. We could not recommend Megan more highly!

I went on three different trips with Adventure 60 with three different guides. Many companies don't allow solo travelers to sign up for trips unless they're joining a bigger group. Adventure 60 was very accommodating and I was able to sign up for three trips without being part of a group: Bear Lake, the Exit Glacier Hike and Tonsina Point Kayaking. Alex was my guide for Bear Lake and it was just the two of us. He was super nice and we saw loons which I had never seen before. It was rainy and cold but very quiet and beautiful. There was hot chocolate afterwards which was a huge plus. I did the Exit Glacier hike with Karla and two other visitors. Karla takes her adorable baby Penny on her hikes which was lovely and she was extremely nice and knew a lot of interesting facts about the glacier. My last trip was with Lauren to Tonsina Point. Lauren is super cool (lives in a bus!) and taught me a lot about the plants and animals we saw. We saw a humpback whale which was amazing. This company is very responsive. They're super on time. They're knowledgable. They're fun. They're friendly. They're affordable. It's a super win. One more thing I liked is each guide talked at some point about how they love their boss and he's great to work for. Love to support that. Highly recommend!

Our family of 7 went on a half day kayaking tour with Adventure 60. Overall, it was a fun experience with good guides, great scenery and a fun time. There are a few things that I would recommend that they change in order to make the experience even better for future guests.

We arrived at 8am and finished at noon. We probably spent less that 2 hours on the water at best. They were very slow moving and seemed like they were just getting organized when we arrived first thing. We stood around for about 15 minutes without much direction. The could have welcomed us quicker and explained what to expect which would have been helpful.

We also spent a lot of time waiting for them to get the gear ready since we were the first tour of the day. It would have been nice if someone went out to the beach launching point before us and got everything ready so that we spent less time standing around and more time kayaking.

Last, the vans they picked us up in and transported us in was absolutely filthy with mold growing in the headliner and other locations. It just wasn’t the best first impression of a business.

The actual time we spent with our guides on the water and at our break spot on the beach was great. It was just really short considering we spent four hours there and less than two of that was in the water.

Back in March, my wife and I booked the Aialik Bay full-day kayaking trip for our honeymoon in late June. Shortly before the trip, we were informed that the water taxis in town had been overbooked. This was not the fault of Adventure Sixty North. Still, we were pretty frustrated that one of the highlights of our honeymoon was in danger of falling through. Despite us giving her a hard time, Sierra (in the office) was very pleasant and professional, and did what she could to help. Eventually, Rick (the owner) was able to pull some strings and arrange a very special trip for us using a different water taxi. Our guide, Alex, went above and beyond to make this adventure truly memorable and special for us. We spent most of the day on the water, enjoying great views of the glacier and waterfalls, and had lunch on the beach on Shale Island. Adventure Sixty North gets our highest recommendation, and we will be back for an overnight trip in the future!

Our family of 5 (parents and 3 college age daughters) had a great kayaking experience with Hannah. We were kept warm and dry with the kayaking skirts that connect all around the opening that you sit inside (I was worried about being cold and wet but that was not at all a problem). They also provided boots that kept our feet dry when getting in and out of the kayak. The kayaking trip of 4 hours was very easy (we have kayaked before) and Hannah had plenty of great information to make it interesting. We were very lucky to see a pair of eagles--one eating a salmon right on the shoreline. We got amazing photos and videos. We also saw otters. This was a great trip.

We had a small group that was trying to plan a 5-day trip out in Kenai Fjords National Park and Adventure Sixty North helped us plan the best possible trip possible. They were very knowledgable on the area and helped us plan the entire trip, as well as gave us advice on what activities to do and places to stay at. Since we went on an unguided trip their expertise was invaluable and made the trip a success. Additionally, all of the gear we needed was in great working condition and we had no issues with it. Very thankful to Rick and his staff for making our trip a once in a lifetime adventure and highly recommend anyone thinking of visiting the area to go with Adventure Sixty!

We did the Aialik Glacier Kayak tour. 2 hours boat ride there, a couple hours kayaking and then a boat ride back. Trip was good. A bit pricey IF you have seen glaciers up close on a cruise or similar because we didn't get too close. Operation could also be streamlined as there was some waiting around time for the crew to load the kayaks on to the boat prior to departure and when returning. Could be better if they load the kayaks before guests arrive to board the boat. Otherwise everyone is standing around waiting. Same with the drop off, maybe a van can drop the guests off at the office while others unload the kayaks. Also for the price, they could provide water bottles for the guests who did not bring water. I think our group was a bit too big with 12 people (6 kayaks) and 2 guides so we were a bit slower and couldn't go as far to the glacier. The guides Alex and Kiana (?) were wonderful. Overall it was a very good experience with potential improvements to make it even bette

We hired Adventure Sixty North for a 1/2 day shore coho fishing experience for my husband and 13 year old son for August 11th. The front desk staff/phone staff at Adventure 60, I believe it was Michael, was very helpful and kind in describing this excursion and helped me through the online booking. Declan was the guide assigned to our trip. He called us the evening before and spoke with my husband and gave him all the details of the trip informing him that fishing has been unusually difficult this time of year and the coho had been caught in sparse numbers. He advised he'd potentially be modifying the original plans of the trip to help get fish on the line. The morning of the trip he texted again, having been out with another guest already indicating he'd made modifications to my husband and son's plan in order to try to get fish on the line. This meant taking kayaks out to a different location and fishing from a different shore. Declan had the kayaks loaded on the Adventure 60 van and was ready to go when my husband and son arrived. My husband advised Declan was kind, compassionate, had a great personality, interacted with and encouraged my 13 year old son and even when the fishing wasn't going as he had planned, had a rock skipping contest with my son to keep him interested in the trip. Despite the fish not being what we had hoped for Declan went above and beyond to try to get them fish and also to engage my son who the fishing trip was mainly for. Declan managed to catch one flounder ( one of 2 fish caught the entire 5 hours....)and even let my son pose for a picture with it, just so he 'had a picture with a fish'. We had another fishing excursion planned for the next day with another company and too had some difficulty getting fish on (again a sign of the season, not necessarily anyone's fault) but this guide handled the situation much different than Declan and left my son feeling defeated and disengaged in the trip all together. My husband was super impressed with this young Declan and how professional and empathetic he was to my son, not getting any fish on. I would hire Adventure 60 again in a heartbeat!

We went on a 3 day kayaking/camping trip in August 2024 with Adventure Sixty North. The trip was fantastic and the guides and the company were outstanding. I can’t say enough good things about the owner, Rick Brown, who spend a lot of time on the phone with us discussing the pros and cons of different options (eg, Aialik vs Northwestern Fjords), how his company operates, and what we could expect. Rick is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and is clearly committed to ensuring his customers have the best possible experience.

The same was true of the two guides who led our trip (Laurn Bird and Doug Hooton). Both were exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking, good natured, funny, and all around wonderful people to share days away from civilization with!

We considered Aialik Fjord but chose the more remote Northwestern Fjord. It paid off in that we saw few other people or boats on our 3 day trip and camped in a beautiful arm of the Fjord, across from a glacier, where we never saw another person the whole time. We were fortunate to have great weather all three days. Rain is common in August and would have made the experience much less enjoyable. We didn’t see much wildlife (a few otters while kayaking and some Dall porpoises on our return boat), but the glaciers, fjord, and mountains were stunning and the experience overall a true “once in a lifetime” delight! We highly recommend Adventure Sixty North.

Deb was our Exit Glacier Hike guide and we had a fabulous time. The trip was well organized and Deb's passion and curiosity and info about glaciers and the general area was infectious. We could have easily done the hike ourselves, but would have missed out on so much valuable context and information that really made the experience so much richer.
