The shear size and color of the glacier amazed me! Then when the boat captian shut off the engine, the noises the glacier made were incredible. Sounds from deep in the ice! The time we were there it calved many times. Well worth it!

The glacier is absolutely beautiful. It is approached by boat and kayaks. The sights and sounds of the glacier are breathtaking! Tour boats can be booked from Seward.

Viewed the glacier off the tour boat and it was quite a site. The tour boat gave us a good amount of time to take pictures.

We booked a 7.5 hour trip with "Major Marine Tours." This company is not as big as Kenai Fjords but it is good. The captain and staff was excellent. One national park ranger was on board and she was excellent as well. We were able to see the Holgate Glacier and Aialik Glacier in a short distance. The glacier calving... More

You have to get there by boat. Best part is when the captain shuts down the engines and you get to hear noises. That sound is a moving glacier that changes its appearance every day.

Everyone needs to see this if you haven't seen a glacier. It is something you won't forget. We took a boat trip to see this.

I would urge anyone in the area of Kenai Fjords National Park find their way down the coast from Seward to see this amazing spectacle of nature by boat. How close you can get will depend on the number of icebergs floating around it and the weather. It was sunny and incredibly rough and windy the day we were there,... More

The weather was horrible the day we were on our way to this glacier. But the six hour ride was worth it to see the glacier crack and send avalanches of ice into the water. the sound and site was an amazing experience. They give you a box lunch on board and the crew was very attentive to any of... More

Holgate Glacier is accessible by cruise ship from Seward and is spectacular. The ship gets to within a mile or so of the glacier face and ice-calving is common. Sea Otter are visible as are sea lion.

Saw this glacier from a boat trip. Very nice. Loved the trip and we had great weather. Saw Puffins in the wild and other sea birds, whales, dolphins, sea otters, sea lions, seals.
