Overview
Experience the beauty of Resurrection Bay, its abundant marine life and beautiful glacial vistas on this Seward kayaking excursion from Lowell Point. On this trip we paddle the shoreline of Resurrection Bay, where encounters with sea otters, sea birds, bald eagles and leaping salmon are common. Our day will include a paddle along the coastline and walking through a temperate rain forest. We’ll explore Tonsina Point with its ghost forest, late season salmon stream and beautiful mountain views from its beach. Enjoy a picnic lunch and possibly a visit to a waterfall.

All of our tour guides in Alaska were amazing, and it was even better to see they were lead by strong, friendly, and outgoing women. Our tour guide, Lola, was extremely knowledgeable about both safety measures and about the landscapes and wildlife around us. She was outgoing, friendly, and easy to talk to. There were times I forgot I was on a tour because it seemed so personal and relaxed. One of my favorite memories of the trip was Lola showing us a local practice of pressing leaves (forgot the name) to make temporary tattoos on our skin. It may seem like a small moment but it is something that I'll remember forever. It also added a personal and relaxed vibe, rather than super commercial and touristy. It was also a great way to see Seward in a half day before catching the train back to Anchorage.

Even on the grayest, rainiest of days, our trip out with Sunny Cove Kayaking was amazing. Our guides were full of knowledge and made sure the entire group had a fun experience. Bald eagles, sea otters, river otters, harbor seals, and even a kingfisher were spotted. After we headed out, the rain stopped for a bit and the Bay was beautiful, calm, misty and magical. This has got to be one of the best ways to experience the beauty of Resurrection Bay and local wildlife.

I recently stayed at Fox Island, taking advantage of their 2 night special. The kayaking part of the deal was not really much of a factor in my decision to go there, and Sunny Cove was not on my radar. I am a very experienced outdoorsman, 45 year Alaskan, and worked for years as a guide, river rafting, canoeing, dog mushing, and hiking, etc. That makes it difficult for me to be comfortable as the guidee, rather than the guide! My traveling companion has decades of experience sea kayak camping in Alaska. With that context, we went kaying with Andrew. He could not have done a better job! He projected confidence, knowledgeability, and quiet humor. He put everyone at ease, regardless of their level of experience. We had a great paddle, and I highly recommend Sunny Cove!

Kayaking to the glacier was the most amazing thing I've ever done! Our guides were very helpful, had lots of knowledge about the wildlife, the glacier, and everything we needed to know about safe kayaking. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat!
