I'll start by saying that the weather is always a gamble. However, our weather was amazing and we were very lucky. The Jdock crew & cpt. Kyle were outstanding. Very friendly/personable, very knowledgeable and took great care of the whole boat. Highly recommend to all and Jdock be the ones I go to when I return to Alaska.

I took my very aged uncle Rico (48 this year) out with JDock late in August. I was worried about his frail state due to his age, as the seas briefly showed us good weather for people who like rough weather. However, Captain Will showed his decades of experience and handled the sea state with skill and the comfort of his passengers in mind. The boat was modern, well maintained and sea kindly. At one point Capt Will showed amazing professionalism as a Mariner in escorting a much smaller vessel through seas which kicked up unexpectedly. Deckhands Scott and Ben worked diligently through the brief tempest, gracefully enduring Uncle Rico’s barrage of questions (what kinda hooks are these? Never seen em round like this...you sure this funny shape is gonna hook em?, preparing rods and tackle, ensuring no time was lost once we had reached Capt Will’s secret spot #’s C3316, D2.1, and X7119 (pm me separately for coordinates). His secrets paid off! At each we laid into constant action of massive silver salmon, halibut, ling cod, and rock fish. The crew made us feel at ease, one crew working for two single goals: 1) to catch world class fish, and B) to have a damn good time together. Everyone congratulated each strike, and Scott and Ben worked patiently to coach the angler and seamlessly to land the catch. I’ve been on charters before, and this camaraderie was a welcome change to others with “rod hogs” and group territorialism (e.g. us three have dibs on those five rods with salmon heads for bait!). I attribute this to the mood set by an awesome crew. I felt like a better angler after fishing with J Dock. I learned to always bait a jig, and how to jig a bait. I also learned that it isn’t about the size or frequency of fish (both of which were excessively bountiful), but about the experience, enjoying the surroundings and company. The skies parted to a golden, blustery, late summer sun, the warm beams of which were eclipsed only by the smiles from anglers and crew alike. As the day reluctantly came to a close, we returned to Seward. I think Captain and Crew alike would have stayed as long as possible. I do not think “overtime” is a concept among them who choose to fish these waters, but rather a humble gratitude to be there. Now fast friends, we all lingered on the dock as we checked in our fish to be vacuum sealed and deep frozen, retold stories of the day and laughs with the crew. We all left with a welcome excess of professionally packaged, fresh caught Alaskan pescado and a soul full of great memories. Those fillets will go down easy this winter, as we feast our neighbors on tales of wild Alaska. Uncle Rico made it back unscathed, his “waterproof” watch fogged over and new “raincoat” soaked through. He couldn’t have been happier. Thank you JDock Sportfishing AND JDock Seafood for the Trip of a Lifetime.

Oops, should I have put a a 1-star for Captain Will? 😉 NOPE! I mean he is a #celebrity now. Jokes aside- it really was 5-star, epic experience for my husband and me. The crew on the predator was amazing, fun and got us all fish - who cares about the experience - fill the freezer. (Another joke) Don’t hesitate and just choose J Dock. They will go above-and-beyond for you from all your questions, the boat experience and getting your catch ready for the plane. Thank you all so much for one of the highlights of our Alaskan trip. Peace, love and halibut!

A great outfit with great captains, crew, boats and equipment. I highly recommend this charter outfit when fishing in Seward. They will not disappoint!! Hard working, hard fishing group of fishermen that do everything they can to make sure everyone has a great day out on the water. We've fished with them before and will hopefully have the chance to fish with them again in the future...

We went out ocean fishing from J Dock on August 18th with Captain Kyle and his crew. It was a wonderful trip. They did everything they could to help us get fish, and we did get lots of fish. the crew was great and helped whenever they could. Sometimes it is crazy with several fish hooked at the same time and you have to dance around other poles and people. But they helped us and we did great.Thank you Kyle and crew you were the best. The weather was beautiful too so it was really a great trip.
