My family & I attended the Best of Alaska trip and it was the highlight of their visit to Alaska! I’m so pleased they enjoyed it! The trip consisted of 4 hours fishing, 4 hours sightseeing, and 4 hours kayaking. I was worried that the 4 hours kayaking would be too much, but our amazing guides (Abby, Ron, & Wes) were very attentive and kept us at a pace everyone could appreciate. Abby is super knowledgeable and provided our group with tons of interesting and amazing facts about the ecosystem and geological aspects of the area we were in. Ron, Wes, Abby, and Dez were great with the kids. We had children ranging in ages from 8 to 18 and they ALL enjoyed the fishing part of the trip as well. A few of the children had never been fishing before and weren’t sure what to do. Thankfully the guides let us know how use the fishing poles and how deep to drop our lines, which ensured we ALL caught our limit of fish for the day!!! While we kayaked, Dez took great care in cleaning and filleting our fish; which was great because we had no idea how to do it ourselves, LOL. Bill, our boat’s Captain knew all the best fishing spots (he said this was his 15th season doing this here in Alaska). Bill ensured everyone had a great time and we all had the opportunity to see porpoises and whales. The price tag may seem a bit pricy, but it’s definitely worth every penny in my opinion. Small breakfast items and a lunch were also provided which was nice. I would recommend that if you have young people, who may or may not have experience riding on boats in the ocean, I would make sure to have them take some Dramamine an hour before the trip. We had a few sea sick kids, but they still managed to have a good time. Lastly dress in layers (it’s cold) and don’t forget binoculars!!! I live in Anchorage and can’t wait to go back again!

What an awesome company. I can’t praise them enough for the trip they put together for our foursome. We did a 4 day/3 night kayak trip in Aialik Bay and it was exactly what we hoped for.

From the time we started looking, we knew this outfit was the only choice. No really, they were our only choice. Every outfitter we called before them laughed in our faces when we asked about putting together a multi day trip to Kenai over 4th of July two months in advance. When we called Miller’s Landing, they just said not to worry about it and that they would make it work. And then they went above and beyond to make the trip seamless. They quoted us a fair price too, and we’re very responsive during the whole lead up to our trip when we had questions about gear, schedules, etc.

And of course it only got better from there when Eli was assigned to be our guide. Eli is young but he’s been guiding trips of all kinds in various parks since he was 15 and it shows. He’s basically a more authentic version of Bear Grylls but cooler to hang out with in the backcountry. And he’s extremely professional—despite this being his first season leading overnights in Kenai, he clearly spent a great deal of time studying because he was able to answer every single question that popped into our heads about the park, its flora and fauna, and Alaska more generally. We really learned so much. Plus Eli cooks some great meals (wayyyy better than the freeze-dried gruel we became accustomed to up in Denali) and he knows a thing or two about first aid, which he used to patch up our friend when he slipped on some rocks and cut up his face. I’d probably trust him to do some minor surgeries in a pinch.

Eli is a real talent so big props to Miller’s Landing for bringing him on board. If their other overnight guides are even half as good then you’re guaranteed to love your trip. Thanks again for planning such an awesome excursion for us!

We did an overnight kayak trip with kayak guide, Ron Marsh, to the Northwestern Fjord of the Kenai Peninsula. Ron was an incredible guide! He met up with us the night before to go over the plan and any questions we had. Ron was very well prepared, knowledgable of the area, considerate, a great cook, and a capable kayak instructor. In terms of preparation, Ron had a detailed plan of our 2 days together, extra warm & dry clothes, plenty of food and snacks, and some back-up ideas for if the weather turned. The weather was rainy and cold our first day on the water, and something that really left an impression on me was that Ron went out of his way, setting aside his own comfort, to make sure we were well-fed and warm. For example, he created awesome rain-shelters out of tarps, paddles, and kayaks while we drank hot cocoa. Only after we were warm and fed did Ron stop to get some food for himself and dry off.

We also really enjoyed getting to know Ron as a person. He was very easy to talk to, and a fun person to spend our time with. It felt very natural. We had some wonderful conversations about life, family, how outdoor sports can help one practice mindfulness, and even came up with a few "inside jokes"! He did an excellent job navigating his responsibility as our guide while also being a friendly presence. He went above and beyond as our guide, and I would highly recommend doing a guided trip with "Captain Ron"!

Thank you, Ron!

This is a review for the Captain’s Choice full day kayaking trip. On this particular trip we went to Aialik Bay and it was unbelievable. Fred and Ron, or “Fron” (you had to be there!) were our guides and they were fantastic. They were funny and kind and it was clear that they loved their jobs and knew what they were doing. I came out to Miller’s Landing as a part of a research for my college and the staff was super accommodating and offered great conversation concerning my topic, especially Fred and Ron. They made sure that everyone was comfortable and having fun at all times and were full of fun facts and quick jokes.

We kayaked through Ailalik Bay after a beautiful boat ride on the Water Taxi where we got to see lots of wildlife and then got set up to kayak. All the necessities for a successful trip were provided, but be sure to bring waterproof clothes and a raincoat! After a quick breakfast, we set off on our amazing trip through the fjords and ice fields in the water with breathtaking sights. We had a delicious lunch from Bario, the café on property, at the foot of Aialik Glacier and had plenty of time to explore around the beach surrounding it. Following that, we continued on our adventure to another stop where we had snacks and coffee and got to hike to see another glacier.

Overall, we got to see 3-4 glaciers and plenty of wildlife like orcas, porpoises, seals, sea lions, otters, and tons of birds. After spending 2 weeks exploring Alaska from Denali to Anchorage, this trip was the best experience I had out of everything else. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who loves adventure, good company, and wants to see amazing wildlife. Thanks to Fred, Ron, and Miller’s Landing for a great trip!!

We were originally scheduled on a Northwestern Fjord Overnight Trip. Due to weather and boat troubles, we had to pivot to a day trip to Aialik Glacier. I was impressed with Miller's Landings' professionalism in changing the plans, not only ensuring we were refunded fairly but also making sure we had free accommodations for the now unplanned extra night.

We had Ron as our guide, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. He kept our spirits up, was knowledgeable, and all around was the cherry on top of an amazing trip. There were many great moments: the glacier, kayaking through small ice pieces, seeing wildlife. Even though it was rainy, we all agreed this trip was one of our highlights in our Alaska trip, and to be honest, we simply had a blast with Ron and the other members on the trip.

While I am bummed we were unable to do our original itinerary, I appreciate the efforts that Miller's Landing and Ron especially took to make sure we still had a fantastic trip. I feel that, more than anything, shows the quality of a company!

We used Miller's Landing for an overnight kayak tour of Aialik Bay. We had an incredible trip! Everyone, from our captains to deckhands, were incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Ron was our kayak guide, and he helped make our trip perfect! He set the right float plan for our abilities, and worked hard to make our paddle great. We joked that he was working with behind-the-scenes crew to make the seals, waterfalls, and glaciers pop up at just the right times. Thanks again Ron!

We went on the all day kayaking trip to Aialik Glacier. Ron and Liz were our guides and they were fantastic! They were both very personable and knowledgeable and noted points of interest as we went along. Even though the weather was not ideal (it was chilly with light rain off and on), Ron went the extra mile to make it a great experience. He even served hot coffee and hot chocolate to help warm us up at our beach stop for lunch. We highly recommend Ron and Liz and Miller's Landing.

We were looking for a half day fishing charter in Seward. After Calling around to many of the operators in town, we found Miller’s Landing had the best price. Micha and Alex were an amazing crew. They were very personable, and new just where to take us to guarantee everyone got to catch a fish. I would definitely recommend them to any friends, and would use them again if I visit again.

When we arrived to Miller’s Landing everyone was very kind and welcoming.
Captain Andrew was very knowledgeable on our two hour ride out and back - stopping on our way back to see some of the orcas.
Our tour guide was Fred, along with him in training was Mitch! Both also knowledgeable and considerate of our ability and very efficient at moving equipment, settling us into the kayak, and putting together lunch which consisted of a sandwich, chips, granola bar, and HOT coffee/chocolate. With how cold and rainy it was it actually was very impressive. Also provided for us was hand warmers, gloves, and mini heating pads. Overall a very personable experience.

We went on the 4 hour fishing excursion. Captain Micah was amazing! Not only did he take us to a great location (we limited out in a couple hours), but he was so friendly and informative about the various points of interest on the route out and back in. He seems to be a genuinely happy person and it was infectious.
He treated us like we were some sort of VIP's (we aren't) and made the whole trip so enjoyable. Miller's Landing - do not let Captain Micah go anywhere!
