Me and my wife booked a full day whale watching/wildlife tour with Seward Wildlife Tours as a part of our honeymoon, and we were not disappointed. We got to do a private tour with a boat captain, Tanner, on a very nice fishing boat. Tanner took us all around Resurrection Bay, the Gulf of Alaska, and Kenai Fjords national park looking for whales, birds, and other sea life. He was a great guide and we saw a ton of amazing wildlife and glaciers! To cap it off, at the end of the trip, Tanner extended the trip for us and turned the boat around to find a whale that was spotted a ways away since there weren't many whales to see that day! This really made the trip for us, so thank you again Tanner! Terry, the owner, was also great to work with for booking and answering questions leading up to the trip. A great experience for us overall!

My brother and his 2 sons were visiting from New York. I live on the Kenai River in Soldotna, Alaska and tried to entertain them by taking them fishing almost every day, riding motorcycles, hikes, etc. and they had a great time. But the one day combo trip with Terry was absolutely the highlight of their week. They caught King salmon and sea bass, followed a pod of orcas, watched the Aialik glacier calving, saw a humpback whale and her calf and many birds. Terry is a naturalist and an expert in wildlife, geology and the history of the area. He’s also a super nice guy! My only hesitation about writing this review is he will be even more in demand and harder to schedule with next year for my family, friends and me.

You can get onboard right in Seward at the waterfront and recommend reservations a day ahead if possible. We had a large party and had to make a change in time and they accommodated us. The ship was large and spacious with lots of varied seating. Once underway you were free to move around and they had a food and drink counter with very decent food served throughout. The best part though was the ship captain who also announced the wildlife sightings and piloted the boat around so everyone got a chance to get a good look at sea lions, various whales, seals, puffin and eagles. Sightings were plentiful that day, the seas were calm, nobody got sick and the staff onboard were informative, delightful and casual. It never felt like a canned presentation more like a National Geographic learning trip. I will always treasure doing it with my grandchildren!

We took the longer cruise and got all the way to the open ocean. It sounded like it would be a long time to be on a boat, but the time went fast, as we saw orca and humpback whales and also a glacier. The lunch that was provided was mediocre at best.

Make sure to dress warm and be ready to see everything! Absolutely a must do. Captains are knowledgeable and love their job. They get you up close to the wildlife (respectful of wildlife's space) and stay for a good amount of time for you to see the animals. They will rotate the boat as you look so you don't have to fight to see. We saw: 4 killer whales, 3 dall porpoises, puffins, sea lions, 3 humpback whales, otters, glaciers, eagles, ghost forests, mountain goats, and more!
