I cannot say enough great things about my 7 day stay aboard the Sea Star. To begin, the 85 foot Sea Star, built in 1965, is absolutely beautiful and in pristine condition. The crew (Erik, Tracy, Steve and Misty) was amazing, fun and so accommodating. Your taste buds are going to salivate over the gourmet cooking. My cabin was comfy cozy. I really appreciated every cabin had it's own full bathroom. The place to hang out while onboard, besides the deck with its amazing views, is in the living and dining room salons. You will feel right at home.

I was on a photography tour of the Katmai coast. The Sea Star was the perfect home base. Captain Erik shuttled us ashore to photograph the brown bears just out of hibernation feeding on sedge grasses and clams. To be in the presence of such beautiful animals was an honor. To experience it aboard the Sea Star was an adventure of a lifetime!

After almost two years of planning and looking forward to visiting Alaska, our family of 8 arrived on July 4th, 2022 into Anchorage. On July 6th we arrived at Sea Star for our 5 days, 4 nights voyage. It was an amazing adventure! We did not have the best of weather but beyond that the whole voyage was above and beyond our expectations. The crew from Eric the owner to Tracy , Steve, Misty and Sarah made everything unforgettable. The Sea Star was our home for 5 days.
From Kayaking to voyages on land to explore the wildlife and vegetation, to getting up closer then believed we could to the tidal glacier to Steve's amazing meals it was a dream family vacation.
If you have the chance this is the boat and crew to book!

If I were to break down the components of our trip with North Pacific Expeditions I would give them five stars on each component. The ship is in excellent condition and the common areas are large and very comfortable. The crew was amazing. The food was the biggest surprise. Every meal was fantastic. Eric, the owner and captain, does an excellent job of planning the route to maximize the experience. We have been to Alaska before but never had a captain willing to spend an hour parked about 400 yards away from an active glacier. The coves that where we spent the night were secluded with stunning views. We are active hikers, but the two hikes we went on were unique experiences. We also went kayaking twice. We saw lots of wildlife and since to ship is small we were able to get very close. Despite all the activities we found the experience to be very relaxing.

North Pacific Expeditions created the most fantastic Alaska experience while cruising the Prince William Sound passage. The crew on Sea Star exceeded our expectations 10x’s over. They gave us adventurous activities and listen to everything we had to say to create the most memorable trip we have ever experiences. The food was the best we had ever eaten!!
During our many excursions we always had an experienced/knowledgeable guide(s) the entire trip so there was never a concern for our safety. Thank you for a fantastic trip!!

It would be hard to put a finger on any specific thing we liked best, as everything was supberb -- the meticulously maintained boat, the roomy staterooms with ensuite bathroom/shower facilities, the large and airy lounge and dining areas, the captain, the crew, the drinks, the meals, the scenery, the wildlife, you name it! Although it rained almost every day, that did not in any way detract from our enjoyment of the trip. I give credit to the captain and crew for helping make that happen, and to the captain in particular for his knowledge of where to go to maximize enjoyment of the wildlife and scenery while avoiding being around any other boats while we did so. We've traveled many palces around the world in both sail and power boats. This was a standout experience!

We are frequent adventure travelers with high expectations for knowledgeable, experienced, and professional Captain and crew. Captain Erik, first mate Tracy, naturalist and mate Norris, and talented chef Steve, were everything we could have asked for. Our five day/four-night cruise on the Sea Star included beachcombing, kayaking, glacier viewing, hiking, and multiple opportunities for wildlife viewing with black bears, eagles, Dall’s porpoises, Steller’s Sea Lions, Kittiwakes, sea otters, jellyfish, leaping salmon, and much more. This journey is for those who love nature, are looking for an off-the-grid adventure and are happy to be flexible no matter what the weather, scenery, or mother nature throws at you. The boat was tucked into beautiful, quiet coves at night which provided opportunities for relaxation, a wheelhouse and engine tour, and even a 6 am skiff outing for photography. Each day’s activities were discussed with the passengers and adapted to the group’s preferences. There was no pressure to participate in anything if one just wanted to nap or take in the view from the lounge. This was the smallest boat I had been on (up to 12 passengers, although that would be tight,) and it felt just right for what we were doing. I would consider a future trip or a charter for photography or with friends. What a wonderful trip!

This cruise was from Whittier and returning to Whittier, 5 days and 4 nights. We explored the SW portion of Prince William Sound, staying in quiet bays such as Granite bay and Jackpot bay.
We explored beaches at low tide, kayaked, took short hikes, and used the skiff to look for wildlife in small inlets. Eagles, kittiwakes, otter, bear, salmon, puffins were all there. Waterfalls were everywhere.
On the hikes, we picked blueberries with which the chef made dessert that night. We also picked a berry that tasted like watermelon.
It was a perfect day to see the Chenega Glacier. We got close enough to hear it snap and crackle, with the occasional exciting calving. Hot chocolate with a dash of Bailey's was served.
The food, the crew and the experience were outstanding on the "Sea Star". Very comfortable ship even in the rare rough weather. The passenger list is kept small to maximize the experience for everyone. This is the only way to see the true beauty of Alaska, away from the crowds.

Thank you Ed! We so loved having you and Fran join us for an Alaska adventure. The 3rd time certainly was the charm! I hope you decide to come back, maybe to see the Kenai? If so, give a shout. We'd love to have you!

What an experience. I had very high expectations for our time aboard Sea Star, and they were exceeded in every possible way. In credible personal attention, VERY skilled and KNOWLEDGABLE crew. Food was SPECTACULAR. Accommodation's are simply first class. Each day was included a planned destination, but that did not prevent taking advantage of exciting opportunities (whales!) Hikes and kayak trips geared to individual ability and desires, sit and in the pilot house and chat with the captain, lounge on the deck and enjoy the incredible scenery, and best of all - not another ship in sight! Wow!

Being able to experience the stunning beauty of Alaska from the Sea Star was just surreal! The tranquility and serenity that we experienced lent itself to meditate on the wonders of God's creation!
Captain Erik and the staff were very professional and caring. The captain is knowledgeable and exceedingly competent. Tracy was full of knowledge of the local flora and fauna, Missy knew exactly were to take us kayaking and we always had a great adventure, Chef Steve was very creative with his recipes, Sarah was a very impressive and talented young lady. The captain, Tracy, Missy, Chef Steve and Sarah made us feel like we were amongst friends.
We had an amazing crew and travel companions. We were just like a family for the 5 days of the cruise.
We will always have fun memories of this trip!

If you have never been to Alaska, or visited by boat, this is a life time experience. Beautiful boat, kind and attentive crew, and wonderful food make this trip one to remember. You will not only visit glaciers, and waterfalls, but see so much wildlife. It can involve hiking, walking on beaches, kayaking, and great views from the deck. No pressure; you can do any or all. Alaska is so beautiful, especially from the water. And this experience was exceptional.
