- Keeli Blount18 contributionsWhat a day?!The highlight of our trip thus far!! Beautiful ride incl gorgeous canopies, thru creeks, open fields with awesome views. Katie was a great guide. Very personable and pointed out wildlife, interesting facts along the way. The retrievers, Sadie and Tilly, were the perfect addition. Wonderful day!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 2, 2024
- kmarkbAtlanta, Georgia8 contributionsThis Ride Never Gets Old!This was my second ride with Bardy. The first was 15 years ago. Both rides stand out as highlights from our 2 Alaska trips. Wonderful staff, beautiful trails and scenery. Lots of variety ... thickly treed trails, navigating up streams and across small rivers, rambling thru vast pastures and on beaches, taking in stunning mountain views, and seeing some eagles! Our guide this time was Katie and she did a fantastic job by engaging in interesting conversation and keeping everyone safe. Thank you for a great experience!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024
- Alex G4 contributionsAmazing experience, worth every penny. This was an unforgettable experience. Our guide was great and made sure to point out anything that was cool or interesting and was a great teacher. My girlfriend and I loved the horses that were chosen for us, Hawk and Sequoia. The trail trough the forest was peaceful, and the views from the bay were beautiful. We got tons of pics from the guide but the memories and amount of enjoyment we got from this beats anything else I've personally done in AK so far. 10/10Visited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 26, 2024
- Kathleen L6 contributionsgreat rideWe went on a 2 hour ride and had a lovely time. We were a mixed group of experienced and beginner riders but that didn't make a difference. The girls were wonderful instructors and everyone did well. We traveled through forest and meadows and saw wonderful scenery plus some eagles. It had rained recently and we had to ford some "streams" that were more like rivers. The horses did a great job at keeping us safe and not too wet. I would recommend this ride to everyone who wants a different experience to see Alaska up close.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 4, 2024
- austenmoede1 contributionGreat RideMy wife, 14 yr old son, and 10 yr old daughter all went on this ride. We’ve done many horseback rides at other places. The thing that sets this one apart is that the group is small, and the horses are not just going in a straight line on complete autopilot. The horses have personalities, and you go through varied terrain and at different speeds! Of course the scenery was definitely beautiful. Would highly recommend.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten September 8, 2024

I have had less than 5 horseback rides in my life and this was by far the best and longest trail ride I’ve ever experienced. I was initially worried that my friend and I would not make it to Bardy’s on time because prior to the trail ride, we would be on a boat cruise of Kenai Fjords National park that ended at 2pm and the trail ride started at 3pm. When Bardy’s called me back within 24 hrs they assured me they were a 5 min. drive from the boat dock, which turned out to be true. So for those of you who want to take a 6 hr boat cruise around the glaciers and ride horses on the same day, it can be done, you just have to sign up for the 8am cruise.
The trail ride was great and we forded quite a few waterways to get to Resurrection Bay. Tilly, the dog accompanied us and comically chased fish in the water as we made our way. When I die, I want to come back as a dog living Tilly’s life because Tilly has a great life! Tilly is pure joy to watch.
Back to the ride, the views are stunning, we saw tons of bald eagles, and fish. Our guide took pictures of us with our cameras and candid pictures of us with her camera. At the end of the trip she gladly sent the pictures of us to our phones for FREE. Who can beat that for hospitality?
To sum it up, WORTH.IT. Don’t miss out.

This tour's trail is very well thought out and beautiful, making this was one of the best rides we have done. You ride through forest with low hanging branches (personally my favorite part), through multiple streams, and into a gorgeous meadow full of wild flowers. Eagles fly right at and above you. It was raining hard when we went, but the company had some rain gear that kept me completely dry and comfortable. The horses were well trained, though some of them, including mine, did not appreciate the wind and rain that we experienced. Still, the guides, Katy and Hallie, were more than capable of getting the horses back in line and were there if we experienced any problems. I rode behind Samson whose size was quite a sight but I found him so endearing with his gentleness and his craftiness of always being able to sneak in a bite of grass. The two lovely golden retrievers were so much fun - watching them run around, jumping into the river (sometimes after birds), and overall just enjoying themselves made the tour's energy even better. This was our last stop in Seward and a perfect way to end our time there.

We had a good time and this ride does take you back into where the Eagles are. It was fun watching the operator’s dogs go along too and chase the salmon in the river. However, once the dogs got to the Eagles, the dog ran at them and scared them up into the air. If you’re trying to get really close to the Eagles I would just recommend asking the owner if the dogs can stay back during the ride. If you don’t mind watching the Eagles fly up in the air, the dogs will help do just that.

First I must say, due to some family issues I had to reschedule a couple of times. They were always very understanding and patient and agreeable.
The ride itself was pretty fun, through some woods, crossed a river, along the beach, through a swamp, crossed some creeks, more woods.
To me the absolute best part was the two dogs that tagged along the whole way, running in and out of the woods, darting between the horses, getting in and out of the water. Pretty cool. Totally made the trip way more fun. Saw some eagles.
Only things I would have changed were more time on the beach and dismounting to take some shots of the eagles. They kind of picked a wierd spot to stop and take pics of the riders, but that was a plus too overal. The guide didn't seem to be having an "on" day, but it wasn't an "off:" day either, just not an "on" day. Overall it was a fantastic trip, I'd aboslutely do it again and recommend it, especially if you're doing other stuff in Seward. It was a long haul from Anchorage just for that, bt it was neat for sure.

Super fun horseback riding through a beautiful forest through a clearing with a gorgeous view. Horses were well trained and crossed streams like pros. Saw lots of bald eagles and remains of old cars that were deposited in the forest by the earthquake/tsunami of 1964. Awesome dog Tilly who lead the horses and stopped to make sure each horse (and human) safely crossed the streams.

We booked online and clearly stated 4riders with no experience. When we got there first they had us sing the waiver, we had 5min of explanation and they select a horse for each of us. But one on the horse was so anxious, couldn't stay in one place, they barely moved him to his place. Clearly that horse wasn't for rider with no experience. When we ask them to switch the horse with calmer one, they said we can't do this, take it or leave. That's is so unprofessional! And they didn't refund the money for one of the rides. Never going back!

If this was solely about the kindness of the trail ride folks it would be a 5 but business is about location location location. The gathering spot was in a 18 wheeler trailer lot. I passed the building 3 times cause its tucked in behind parked boxed trailers. Which then meant the trail ride starts here and goes a good distance across ugly scenery heading into woods. The highlight then came seeing pink salmon run up a creek. Their labs were catching and playing with them which was hilarious. We then popped out north of the seward bay. Saw bald eagles and the group leader took photos. Then back to the truck lot we headed. So if your coming off a cruise ship, this will probably work nicely for you. But we drove the seward highway and the views were way better than this horseback ride. Alaska is the last frontier so this trail ride needs to improve its location/view.

All I can say is Bardy’s Trail Rides was a great experience. We wanted to do something with the kids that was fun and exciting and Bardy’s was it! The kids and us (the parents) truly enjoyed the 2 hr horseback riding experience. Neither one of our kids had ever ridden a horse before and the our tour guide, Jess, took care of them and helped them along the way. Everyone got to ride their own horse through Seward and even crosses several bodies of water on the horses. A “must do” if you are in Seward.

Great fun riding through the forest although it was quite muddy with all the rain. Its quite overgrown too with many branches sticking out but they're riding on public land, so its not their trail to maintain.
We rode through the ocean at high tide so probably want to wear rain pants and some sort of waterproof boots as you're most likely going to get wet! I enjoyed it immensely though. It was a beautiful day and we saw many different types of birds. Tilly the dog was so entertaining and was having a ball fishing for pink salmon. The scenery of the mountain landscape and ocean are absolutely spectacular!

This was a filler activity on the day we arrived in Seward. Boy were we glad we did this. It was one of the family's favorite activities on a 10 day trip in Alaska. The guides were very good with our young children, and they had no problems with their ride. We got to see some unique areas we would have otherwise not seen. Trust them when they tell you that two hours is more than enough on the horses...we felt the ride for a couple of days afterwards. The resident golden retriever was a pure delight. She greeted us on arrival and accompanied us on the ride. We had a great time, but I am pretty sure the dog had even more fun. My kids loved watching her running along with us.

Are your horses actually trained? I feel like they only know how to follow each other and bite and kick one another.

I rode Sequoia and he is definitely trained. Horses tend to naturally follow one another because of the herd mentality and as stated above theres a pecking order with whomever is dominant, but as long as you are stern in your commands, you'll definitely get the response you're looking for.
I felt in control and safe for my entire ride!
