We took a private 6.5 hour tour with Seward Ocean Excursions and Captain Megan in June 19 and had an incredible day on the water! This is our first trip to Alaska. It definitely won’t be the last, and I won’t hesitate booking again with them. I did A LOT of research before booking. We wanted a personal, small boat experience and Seward Ocean Excursions FAR exceeded our expectations! Megan was great - explaining what to look for to spot whales, educating us about the area & sealife/wildlife, and just being an incredibly enjoyable person to spend the day with. We saw humpbacks, an orca, sea lions, puffins, sea otters and watched as porpoises played alongside the boat. Then we made our way to the Holgate Glacier, which was an awesome experience. Captain Megan was flexible with the route we took and made sure we lingered a bit longer when we wanted to spend extra time. I wholeheartedly recommend Seward Ocean Excursions and Captain Megan. Thanks for making memories!…

Our Captain Joanna was amazing. The knowledge she has of the land, sea, wildlife & history made the excursion a wonderful learning experience and added to the magnificent beauty of the scenery. One of the highlights was getting to watch a group of humpbacks hunting. Joanna was able to let us hear the sounds they make & explained what they were doing & why. I highly recommend this excursion, it’s a must do if you want to get the full scope of Alaska. There are only 6 passengers plus the Captain and the boat has both inside & outside viewing for great photo opportunities.…

We did both a 6-hour tour and a 3.5 hour tour and we LOVED, LOVED, LOVED our experiences! If you're worried about the small boat, don't! We felt safe and because there is less rolling and pitching on a small boat than a large boat, sea-sickness was less of an issue. Plus, you can't beat the small-group experience. Both of our captains, Joanna and Bixler, were fantastic - giving us information about the wildlife and the geology of the area and were also great about keeping an eye on our movements around the boat to not throw anyone off balance. We saw orcas and humpbacks both days, and were lucky enough to see a humpback mom and calf feeding next to the glacier! We even saw humpbacks breaching. We also saw harbor porpoises on both days, as well as stellar sea lions, puffins, sea otters, a couple of bald eagles, and lots of sea birds. Bixler pointed out egg yolk jellyfish and kelp as well. Joanna took us to a great little cove where we were able to get out and explore the shoreline. And Bixler knew lots of great spots in Resurrection Bay to show us.…

We were really hoping we would see orcas up close. They are the one animal that we had never seen before in all of our travels. I am sure that all of the boat captains are great, but I felt we really lucked out getting Jen as the captain of our small 6 passenger boat. She knew exactly where to go in Resurrection Bay. We spent a magical half-hour watching these iconic creatures. It was a great experience.…
