Wonderful local- feel boat ride! My 12-year-old son won a trip on Seward Ocean Excursions during a local art contest (the prize donation by the locally-owned company). The individualized trip felt like a friend was taking us all around Resurrection Bay. Our captain, Andrew, was awesome! He was knowledgeable about local wildlife, the bay’s geography, and the history of the area. With only 6 guests on board everyone’s questions were answered and we all got to know each other during the 3.5 hour boat ride. We got to go into some of the “nooks and crannies” of the bay not normally seen up close on the larger boat companies. The single travelers we boated with even decided to team up with another group and continue their day together with an afternoon trip to the Alaska SeaLife Center. This was an amazing trip and well worth it if you don’t want to spend all day out on the water, but want the Rez Bay experience. Open to go out on the bay year-round. The snow falling around us made it even more beautiful experience. Very much recommend.

We went on the 4hr wildlife cruise tour during the last week in May on a Wednesday. We signed up for the 8:30 cruise. Our Captain was Callie. She was fantastic! She really knows a lot about Resurrection Bay, the animals, and boating/sailing knowledge. We all felt safe and secure both in the boat and on the bow and stern. She really did her best to find us wildlife; we saw puffins, various birds, sheep, black bear, dahl porpoises, lots of sea otters, seals, sea lions and bald eagles. Unfortunately, the whales were absent that day; but it didn’t stop her from trying to find them! So many stunning views!! The perfect amount of time for husband and my 65+yr old parents. Love supporting local businesses! Park in the South Uplands Public lot for the closest parking ($10/day).

Captain Anthony explained everything clearly from safety issues, to convenience things, and sightseeing options. Then, he prioritized the sightseeing options we mentioned. He was very sensitive to ensure we were comfortable proceeding with things such as rough seas and really tried to get us to the places where we would see wildlife and that was very appreciated.

We were greeted by Cassie, our pilot, from Seward Ocean Excursions as we began our whale watching excursion. She instructed on safety before leaving the dock. She was very thorough in making sure the guests knew what to do in case of an emergency. The cabin was heated, which was a good thing, as it was drizzly and cold out. In the harbor Cassie pointed out the otters floating (resting) in the water and seals on the rocks. She was very knowledgeable about the wildlife in the area and answered all our questions. We ventured out along the coast and saw beautiful waterfalls. More otters swam farther out. There were bald eagles perched on trees. Cassie pointed out multiple glaciers between mountains. We landed on a beach so we could get off the boat and venture along the shore. Although we saw no whales that day (the Humpback begin their migration to Hawaii in Sept) and the Orcas didn't want us to find them, it was a great day out on the water! Being a small boat with just 4 guests, it made for a more personal experience. Great adventure and highly recommend Seward Ocean Excursions.

Five of us booked with Seward Ocean excursions, and the party ranged from 11 YO to 72. The skipper was engaging and friendly but also concerned with safety and comfort. This is a great outfit with solid, clean boats and interesting itineraries . Our skipper, Joanna was knowledgeable and adaptable. We highly recommend this trip during any season.

We took the afternoon tour and lucked out on having awesome weather and sea conditions.

Calley was our captain, and as others have stated, she is Awesome!! She was knowledgeable about the area, as well as the animals and birds that share this stunning landscape.

We sat in the middle of an Orca pod while they fished all around us, even saw two babies! We were also lucky enough to see humpback whales, sea otters, dall sheep, (mother and baby), sea lions. Harbor seals, porpoise and numerous birds. Her familiarity with the animals and the area enabled her to place us in spots that allow great viewing, without encroaching on the wildlife. These smaller boats can go places the bigger boats just can’t go. We even did a beach landing!

I realize how lucky we were to see as many species as we did but it was our captain that put us where we needed to be to take advantage of every opportunity.

Seward Ocean Excursions was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. I cannot be more enthusiastic about recommending them.

We did the 6hr tour in June and it was Amazing. Our boat was big enough to fit 6 in the cabin but small enough to take us into the cove areas. We were able to see everything we wanted to: Puffin, Humpback whales, Orcas, Seals, Sealions, Otters, Bald Eagle, and some glacial calving! Obviously the sightings are somewhat luck driven, but our guide had a great eye and would go out of his way to take us to the best spots and wait for potential wildlife sightings.

I love it that this business is family owned. The wife led our tour. Krystin was wonderful and super knowledgeable. Three boats went out simultaneously. They inform the other boats of wildlife they find so you actually have triple the chance of seeing stuff. They are also very weather conscience and take your safety very seriously. Highly recommend. It was a wonderful day, even though we didn’t see any orcas. But it wasn’t for lack of trying. We didn’t see see harbor seals, otters, porpoises, bald eagles, and all kinds of water fowl. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing trip, Captain Calley was so friendly and knowledgeable and is an absolute pro at spotting and tracking the whales as they move through the bay. There are some binoculars on the boat for sharing and plenty of seating in the cockpit for 5-6 people (but we spent much of the trip out on the deck!)

Saw a bunch of animals! Two different humpy sightings (one adult, and later a mother and calf), bald eagle flying over the boat, some puffins, and a couple of goats on the cliffside.

Wow! What a great way to discover the marine habitat of south-east Alaska. Callie was the best captain and guide you could hope for - knowledge, skill, and a good humoured, unique yet genuine approach to commentary. This small, but safe and powerful boat, allowed an intimate encounter with the wildlife of Resurrection Bay. Orcas, Dall’s Porpoise, Steller Sea-lions, Sea Otters with pups, Gulls, Kittiwakes, Guillemots, Murres, Murrelets, and Puffins! Mountain Goats defying gravity on the cliffs plunging into the inky waters of the North Pacific. Thoroughly recommend this authentic and exciting adventure.
