We had originally booked one of the larger boats for a long glacier/wildlife tour. However the timing didn't work out for us which was all for the better. We took a tour with a total of 6 people + our captain (Elena) and it proved to be a very fun and intimate experience.

Elena knew all the best spots and we were able to see Orcas, Humpbacks, Dahl's Porpoises, Goats, Sea Lions, Otters, and Puffins. Her knowledge, friendliness, and genuine excitement to be there really put this trip over the top.

I would totally recommend the evening cruise that we did (5-8:30PM) as we were pretty much the only boat out there!

The boat was cozy, clean and had a bathroom onboard if necessary.

My fiancé and I signed on to an early morning tour the day before after realizing the kayaking tours were all booked up. At first we were disappointed, but this experience ended up being the highlight of our whole trip to Alaska. Our guide Joanna was easy to hang out with, extremely knowledgeable, and skilled in navigating the area as well as finding all the cool wildlife you can imagine. We saw TWO humpback whales, scores of sea lions, harbor seals, puffins, sea otters, and even jellyfish! The smaller tour size and boat really added to the awesome time we had. The scenery was stunning. By the end of the journey we felt like we were coming back from another world.

Overall, Joanna our guide gave me what may be one of my favorite vacation memories of my life. 100% worth the price.

Booked a half day boat tour of Kenai Fjords for mid January - it’s the only touring company that offers tours year round. The weather forecast was a bit dicey the night before and we received a kind email from Captain Bixler offering a refund if we weren’t willing to take a chance. We completely lucked out and had clear, amazing weather. We saw so much wildlife, beautiful glacier, and stunning sights with almost no other boats on the water. The hospitality, fun facts about the area and wildlife, and Bixlers clear passion for what he does was unparalleled. We’re excited to come back for a summer tour!

This boat excursion was a bit pricey so I was a little hesitant. I am SO GLAD I went ahead and booked it. We had personalized attention of our boat captain with only 6 people on board. So much better than the crowded tour shops. We saw every type of wildlife imaginable and received wonderful explanations of the area. Be prepared for some waves and rain. Layer, layer, layer is the mantra for Alaska! This was a highlight of our vacation!

We called Bixler (owner) when the tour we booked cancelled on us when we arrived in Seward after driving 3 hours to take a boat cruise. He was disappointed for us that the other tour group cancelled on us and wanted us to have an experience on the water while in Seward for the day.

He met us almost immediately and with a friendly smile on his face. We hopped right on the boat, pulled out, and saw a happy-go-lucky sea otter munching on a crab he caught in the boat harbor. We also saw a sea otter on our way out.

Our tour was filled with glaciers, sea life, bald eagles, towering mountains, the beautifully stunning Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords, and Bixler's lifelong understanding and commentary about the Bay.

I cannot recommend this tour enough for anyone visiting Seward. Bixler saved our day and made it an unforgettable experience in the Kenai Fjord!

This was one of our favorite activities on our 2-week Alaskan road trip! We did the 3.5 hour tour with Elena as our captain, and we were so excited to see the wildlife in Resurrection Bay. We booked the whole boat for our family of five (kids ages 11, 13 and 14). We were able to add our cousin (age 21) just a few days before the tour. Even though she grew up in Anchorage, she was crazy excited about this new experience!

Couple things to know: 1) Our youngest had to wear a life jacket because she is not yet 13. Not a problem. But good to know. 2) I am a heavy person with a bum knee. I had a hard time at first because I was trying to use the step to board the boat. I had much better luck when it was suggested that I sit down on the side and swing my legs over.

We lucked out and had beautiful weather. We were wearing sweatshirts. We had packed rain coats and hats/gloves. Only a couple of us pulled some of these things out to wear. I was glad we had also packed binoculars. The boat had a nice pair, but there were 6 of us to share them.

The boat was comfortable, with a captain's chair and two bench seats available in the cabin. There is a small fridge and sink. There is also a small bathroom, great to have when needed. It was a fairly smooth ride. So enjoyable!

Our captain Elena was wonderful! We learned so much about the bay and the islands. She knew our youngest was wild about otters and kept a lookout for them the whole time. We did find two! We also found sea lions, puffins, murres, kittiwakes, bald eagles, mountain goats, and a humpback whale! Elena pulled the boat up to an island for beachcombing, and the kids loved it. My oldest found mermaid's purses (egg cases from skates) and crabs on shore.

We would recommend this tour to anyone! We would go again ourselves!!!!

This is the BEST way to see Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords! I have gone on two six hour tours with Seward Ocean Excursions and both were amazing. Our captain, Callie, was extremely knowledgeable about the SeaLife and handled some rougher waters with grace. Being on a small tour boat allowed for greater flexibility and better photo opportunities! Although these tours can cost slightly more than the big tour companies, it is worth every penny!

I truly appreciated the phone call the evening before to warn us about weather conditions. Sadly, we decided to cancel hence this review is more a tribute to the professional attitude and kindness of the operators. They quickly refunded 100% our tour costs and we hope to return next year and have better weather for our trip.

If you are looking for a Seward wildlife cruise do not look elsewhere!! We opted for Seward Ocean Excursions because it's a small boat and 8 takes persons max We did the 3 1/2 hour tour with Cassie as our captain. We cannot say enough good things about Cassie. I've never met a person as knowledgeable about anything. My brothers had endless questions about the wildlife, ocean, Alaska, Seward, etc. and she was never stumped, always patient and fun. It was clear that her primary goal was seeing that we enjoyed ourselves and saw as much wildlife as possible. A personal experience we would not have had on a large boat.

An unforgettable day with family, on an absolutely wonderful tour of Resurrection Bay. My daughter, myself, and two grandsons had the boat to ourselves, and it was a really special experience to be so close to the water with our family group.

Captain Joanna asked what we were most interested in seeing as we set out from Seward. The answer was "Orcas," and she was really able to deliver! We were thrilled when she led us to a group of Orcas, and we got to see them breaching and slapping pectoral fins on the surface of the water.

We also had some wonderful views of humpback whales, sea lions, otters, puffins and lots of other sea birds. We spent some time idling near a Steller Sea Lion haulout, and we were charmed by the curious Sea Lions who swam near our boat for a closer look at us.

Joanna was friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife, geography, and history on display throughout our tour, and really made the experience even more special for my young grandsons. She even let my older grandson steer the boat! This was my second tour with these folks, and I can't wait to go back and do it again.
