We chartered sailboat Lady Butterfly for 2 weeks for my wife, my 4 kids and me, for a trip in the region of Brac, Hvar, Solta, Split, Sibenik, Skradin...
Sebastian has been responsive and helpful the months before our trip, to answer all our questions. He even equipped the boat with a stand up paddle for us.
The boat was well prepared upon our arrival with gentle attentions like fresh fruits and a bootle of wine.
Lady Butterfly has been a comfortable and quite good performing sail boat during these 2 weeks. Whenever we had questions, Sebastian has been available through WhatsApp.
I recommend chartering Lady Butterfly if you want to sail in Dalmatia!

Me and my son took the CMAS beginners course at Butterly Diving during a 2 week stay in Tucepi. Although we had to re-schedule the course on short notice on several occasions due to both of us catching a cold (not covid fortunately :-), the guys at the diving center were super flexible and made sure to fit us into their busy schedule anyway. Thanks a lot for that!
We had a great time with Valeska, the instructor, and also Fox, who helped out on one occasion. The staff is really professional, friendly, proficient in English and patient - they let you take the time you need to feel confident with each step of the course. At last you realize that scuba diving is actually not that hard, now we can't wait to do more of it!

Great place, great people, very professional and educational course, and the price is absolutely worth it. It felt like a huge bargain.
I stayed in Makarska and even though there was also a diving center there, I believe the one here is so much better.
Much recommended and a big thank you to the staff :)

I would recomend any other dive center.
1) i asked about what dives we would do, the told me 18-24m,45min-1hour dives, in reality we did two 30 minutes dives, with an 8 meter average, mostly 5 meters(felt like i was diving in a pool)Usually the guide goes for more if you still have over 100 oxigen buy he took us out at 30 minutes.The sad thing is the diving spot had pretty nice deeper areas, and i even asked i we could go to the 20 m area for the second dive but it seems they enjoy 30 minute safety stops.
2) my friend who did discover droped his camera from the boat stairs, i asked kindly if we could search for it 2 minutes the skipper said no way( the waves were kind of big in his defense,but no where near a storm), i insisted, i could have free dove after it while they were turning the boat, but i got the same response(ofc they will go search it tommorow, and keep it:().
3) this isnt really big, but on the phone they told me my friends who had four 1h dives(but no licence) in egipt could come on a boat without doing the beach dive if they seem trustworthy, but in the office they said they have to pay 60€ for they beach "lesson"
Sadly those people dive for business, not for passion:(, if all divers were like this i would 100% pick another sport.

I wanted to go diving with my sister (both experienced divers) and the German guy who gave us the information at the reception was not nice at all, he just gave us after asking every single question some information but with no joy at all, therefore we decided not to go since we didn't felt quite safe, too bad as we really wanted to go on some dives in Croatia

Having been diving and snorkeling for quite a few years to various places around the world, I am sorry to say Butterfly Diving gives Croatian diving a bad name. From the moment we booked we had concerns about their staff's ability and customer service only for it to be confirmed during our trip. Most of the staff, especially the blond German guy were rude, unhelpful and down right arrogant. Having your divers' PADI log book thrown at you and being told it's of no use to them, is not good customer service. Their criticism and denunciation for PADI certification was highly disrespectful and worrying. Some of our Diving party were experienced, advanced open water divers. The attitude and rudeness of the crew had one of our party members not wanting to go out on the second dive. Most of the people on the boat were shouted at and were abruptly told "what is wrong with you, why are you doing it this way!" The trip was horrific. The dive sites were poor. The instructors un-interested, and one of the diving spots was 30mtrs from the main beach in Tucepi, ie; we could have swam there from the pier of the Butterfly Diving Center. To say it was the worst diving experience ever, would be an understatement. I would absolutely NOT recommend this company to anyone. We loved our trip to Croatia and this "so called" dive company does not represent Croatian hospitality.

Please do yourself a favor and AVOID this company(Butterfly diving). Myself and my wife rented 2 one-person kayaks for 4 hours from them. However, after 2 hours we got bored and came back. Instead, I asked if I could spend the remaining 2 hours on a sup board since I have quite a lot of experience with sup boards. After around 40 minutes in the water I suddenly started falling off, I couldn't stay on top of the board even lying down. Initially I did not understand what happened. I was far away from the shore and far away from Tucepi. When I realized that the board could no longer support me I started pushing it towards the shore. I was exhausted and barely made it because the board was full of water and as such very heavy. I would have abandoned the board completely but didn't know if I'd be able to get back without it. I thought that maybe there was a hole inside it but then I realized that the cork that is supposed to stop the water from seeping through was not attached. It takes about 20 minutes to let the water out of the board. I clogged the board with a plastic bag which I found in the bin and then came back to Tucepi. When I returned the board and told them that they forgot to put in the cork to stop the water from seeping through they apologized and said that they usually always check it but because we wanted to swap the kayaks for the board they didn't have time. I think that's absurd. The two persons who brought over the board didn't have five minutes to spare to check it? I had a terrible experience and I would be terrified to go DIVING with this company - they might just forget to fill your diving mask with oxygen.

While we enjoyed some aspects of our sailing trip with Lady Butterfly, our experience with Skipper Sebastian was overall quite disappointing.
Sebastian means well and technically knows how to sail (hence the 1 star) but he cannot relax and simply gets stressed out even during minor sailing maneuvers especially docking and anchoring. This was manifested in his losing his cool if for example the winches weren’t tightened fast enough for his taste or if a knot is not exactly to his expectation. He even made several rude comments to myself and my wife which left us feeling quite eager to be finished with the trip and be away from him at several points during our 3 days with him.
In addition to his comments he also had limited local knowledge, for example when we asked him where we would dock at the Stari Grad marina he recommended, his response was “I know as much as you… what do you want me to do?”
While he is German and not a local, somehow even his “years of doing this” did not seem very obvious to us. Some of this is clearly the stress he seems to feel each time we docked. Barking at us when we offered to help but did not do exactly as he wanted. Who does that? Are we not the customer. And clearly this wasn’t a cheap trip.
Note that we were not taking a racing sailing instruction course or even asking him for sailing lessons. We were there to relax, and just have some fun. And offered to help when required. We were not there to get barked at by him. We are sailers ourselves, not experts or racers by any means but good enough as we have our own sailboat back at home. Also this was not the first captain or guide we have used. Just unfortunately by far the worst experience. Skipper Sebastian, it felt clear to us did not want to be there for us. It was purely business for him. And unfortunately we also could not wait for this trip to be over.
We say this carefully and considered not mentioning anything or writing a negative review, just to be done with it, but in fairness to future customers, especially given the high cost in both money and especially time wasted, we felt compelled. We cannot recommend using him.

We went kayaking with these guys or guy, as we hired a guide to make sure we were going the right way. I think we pushed him quite far as we are fast paddlers. He did have the pointy boat though :) . Lovely flat calm sea with mirror finish at times. Snorkelled at one beach that we stopped at and stopped for lunch at another. Managed the local bar on the way back too. Great trip. nice boats after the makeshift repair to the seat but that was no problem and had a laugh about it. Thanks guys!
