The ghost hunting aspect is fun, respectful, and very tastefully done. The history lesson was really fun as well.I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is at all interested in the history of the island (s), or even to someone looking to have a fun time with great company. Another thing that I will point out is that they took extra time with us to show the group a few off limit locations and did not ask for anything extra to do so. Very solid people that have a true love and respect for the island, it’s people and ALL of its ghostly inhabitants.

Mahalo,
Casey

My kids talked me into the tour. I try to have an open mind but am often skeptical of things like this. Nevertheless, I signed us up. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of history and information about the area and the culture that was a big part of this tour. My kids were fascinated by the tech used, and by the folklore of the haunted aspect of the presentation. I admit that it was entertaining and even eerie at times. For me, it was the facts and information that made it most worthwhile. The host is knowledgeable, and very personable. You can tell that he has a passion and deep belief for what he is presenting, and everything he shares is done so reverently and respectfully. If you are into the supernatural, if you are into the history, or maybe both, you would enjoy this tour, as we did.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a wonderful review! Aren't you glad your kids talked you into it?! They know what's up! We had a great time, and for one night the history and mystery of Hawaii was able to be shared and appreciated and that is what makes everything worthwhile. Hope to see you all again one day! Until then, aloooha and a hui hou! - Zach

I went on the tour recently with a few family members and we all had an absolute blast! Our tour guide, Zach, was very passionate about his beliefs and the tour was historical/educational, as well as spooky. Zach was also very personable, welcoming, and very excited to be guiding the tour. He appreciated skepticism and didn’t force anyone to believe what he believed in. I will say, definitely bring walking shoes, as you will be standing and walking for two-ish hours. I definitely want to go on this tour again and recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about haunted, historical places in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (specifically on Ali’i Drive) and those who love learning more about paranormal happenings and equipment.

Mahalo for taking the time to leave a very nice review, thank you! I honestly feel like the group dynamic really makes each tour unique and our group that night definitely had a good vibe going, which always leads to more paranormal activity and a better overall experience. Hope to see you again and please enjoy an additional 10% off as a returning customer when you do visit us again !! 🤙👻🎉

Our 1 1/2 hour tour turned into 2 1/2 hours. It was painful to say the least. The history was interesting but to be sold as a Ghost Tour is beyond inaccurate. To be fair I must say they were very accommodating since the restaurant was taking for ever to get our food to us so we ended up being 5 min late. They were very flexible when I called all explained the situation. That was the highlight of our tour. We stood and waited 15 minutes while the guide tried to find a picture on his tablet to show us a pic of a shadow. That doesn't seem like much but when you stand around for 15 min with a four year old at night it seems like an eternity. My son in law ended up taking my grandson to the car half way through the experience because he fell to sleep. It's sad when all of the adults volunteered to take him so they didn't have to endure the rest of the tour. If you times the amount of time it would take to give the same information without repeats and trying to find pictures the whole tour would have taken about 1/2 hour if that. I came back with one interesting fact that you wouldn't have been able to read on the history signs posted and that was the alignment of an ancient Ahuena Heiau Temple, the Mokuaikaua Church (oldest Christian church on the island) and the Temple belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints line up. The presenter spoke very slow and was very monotone. It would put the dead to sleep not wake them up to talk to you. I love history ghost tours and the stories behind why the place is haunted, I don't need gadgets to show me spirits. All in all it was a waist of time and money. I had to apologize to my kids for such a horrible experience. (Attending were mainly adults and teens, we had one energetic child who was put to sleep)

I love going on ghost tours but this one was not very good. The guide was very nice but she had a flat personality and affect, was very difficult to understand, she didn’t speak up very well, and there was less about ghosts and more about history. Don’t get me wrong, I love learning about history and culture, but for a $60 ghost tour, I expected more ghost stories and amusement. It was much more of a history lesson that I could have gotten from a book. And she was off on a few facts.
They do give you a book with your tour which was nice and they had a few gadgets for the kids to play with. My kids got very bored though, very quickly.
Would not go on again.

The reason I gave it a three is because they worked with us on time and were very flexible. Our dinner just prior to the tour was running late and we hadn't been served by the time we were to leave for the Ghost Tour. I called and told them our situation and they were great. They had me call when we were done eating and met us at the tour sight after our meal. That was above and beyond Thank you!!! As for the tour itself, it was long and painful. Definitely NOT for young people. We love history so that part was nice as well as the stories of sightings HOWEVER our guide took 20 minutes looking for a picture on an ipad that he never did find. My son in law had to take my grandson back to the car because he fell to sleep and he was happy to do so just to have an excuse to leave. There is only one thing I took back from that adventure that I found interesting. Other tours I've been on the stories were exciting and fun to tell afterwards, unlike this tour that was dull and boring. The guide didn't make it fun or exciting his voice almost put us all to sleep. I would not recommend this tour unless they perk it up and you get a different guide. Our group was family with teens and one child. Mostly adults.

My family and I were lucky enough to take the Kona Haunted Hele tour in late December 2022. During that night, Steve lead us through areas of Kailua while carefully and clearly describing the deep local history that connects to much of the current paranormal activity there. The many stories and accounts of ghost activity he shared with us was fascinating and really made our trip to the Big Island even more memorable. The overall energy in the city that night seemed especially enhanced or alive, which was also fascinating.

We had a private ghost tour with Zack. It was great and we all had a lot of fun learning the history of Hawaiian royalty and the changes to islands. My girls had a blast with the EMF detectors, spirit box and taking photos. Zack also had some pretty impressive photo evidence of a ghost of a Hawaiian princess. Would definitely recommend to those who love doing ghost tours wherever they go!

I attended the Big Island Ghost Tour with my partner and was very impressed with the breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide. We really enjoyed hearing about the history of the area - which complimented the spooky tales well. I also really appreciated that there was time dedicated at the beginning and end of the experience to intention set as well as give gratitude for the experience. It definitely felt very respectful while still interesting and spooky!

My hubby and I booked an adventure with Zach. We met under a spooky, old banyan tree where Zach regaled us with tales of local lore. The evening progressed into an evening stroll leading to a few historically significant places, (including two cemeteries) He broke out his techy ghost detecting equipment and we were encouraged to take pictures. Zach deals in smaller groups which allow the sharing of ghost stories It was scary, good fun! Zach proved to be both knowledgeable and entertaining. Great adventure!!!
