About
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: Parasailers are on the boat for up to one hour with approximately 8 passengers per boat (flying and non-flying.) Participants are winched on and off the boats hydraulically for safe and dry landings. Participants must be at least 5 years old in order to parasail or ride on the boat as a paying observer. Parasailers must weigh at least 160 pounds to fly alone. Tandem and triple flights are available with a maximum weight limit of 450-550 pounds. The captain can increase or decrease these restrictions at their sole discretion based on safety, wind and sea conditions.

Two families (6 people) on our first trip to Hawaii. Four of us decided to try parasailing. We watched the UFO boats one day and booked our trip out within the next couple of days. We had beautiful weather, calm seas. I am SO glad we paid the extra fee to have the UFO employee take photos. For 2 couple, I received over 110 images! From getting into the rigging, take off, dipping into the water, highest views and the landing back on the boat. They just handed me a SD card at the end of the trip. Everyone enjoyed the ride! Ages were 11, 18 and 50. So great to see the view of the island. Overall a great experience. Would definitely do again and recommend to others!

I would highly recommend these folks for all of you parasailing needs! lol They were extremely pleasant and accommodating. They have an option where you can purchase a video and photo package. I recommend it. The video is a 360° shot. You view it on youtube, and you can literally move the shot from yourself to the boat, and back to the coastline. While your in the air, the attendant that harnessed you up, pulls out her camera and starts to take shots. These were some of the best shots from our trip. I had a couple enlarged at Wally world and gave them out for Christmas presents. Can't speak for every crew member, but ours were great.

Most professional group of people I have had the privilege of partaking an event with. Over my life, I’ve been to a number of different events on the island. This was a great event that was very professionally done. It was safe. It was comfortable. It was awesome. Did this with my wife for her birthday. I’m afraid of heights. I loved it! Not scary at all.
Well worth the cost… there was a preteen and teenager with us too… they loved it as well..
Great job guys… while I didn’t carry cash with me(and btw: it’s pretty safe to bring some tipping cash and you phone if u keep it in a bag… you can even wear your glasses as long as they aren’t loose… I did!), at least I could do this…

The actual trip was fine but take issue with the website description of 6 maximum. We were a party of six but had two others added to our trip without notice. The guy who hooked us up wanted us to ride three at a time when we are way past the recommended combined weight total so didn’t get the best feeling from this company.

Don’t be put off by the low-key meeting place on the pier. This operation was professional and friendly, and relative to other activities we have done in Hawaii, actually happened at the scheduled time. The crew was welcoming but took the safety elements seriously. The boat was spotless and comfortable (we had 3 people participating and 1 observing). Restroom on the pier was close but decidedly not posh (I have low expectations for a beach bathroom, and was surprised there was toilet paper!). You should expect to get wet if you “fly” (they’ll dunk your feet if you want, but hey, you’re flying over an ocean so there’s that). Wear shoes that come off easily (you’ll stow them before your flight). The crew took photos of us and for a not crazy price gave us the photos on an SD card.

I have lost count of how many times I have been parasailing over the years with UFO Parasail, Kailua-Kona.. My most recent was in May 2021 to celebrate my 83rd birthday. Something that I’ve always taken for granted was the safety of the experience. On this particular parasail I made a point of being very cognizant of the skills that of the Captain and the Mate who managed the harness and lines. Their professional approach and attention to detail is what guarantees that you are safe and in good hands! I highly recommend UFO, especially if it’s your first time.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time parasailing with UFO in Kona! The staff were super kind and respectful of COVID guidelines, and they ensured that we had a good time. We ended up paying the extra $20 for the photos once we got on the boat and realized we'd love to have those memories recorded. We also asked to be dunked more in the water at the end of our ride — highly recommend :)

Such a great experience, especially with my kids 12 & 15. The crew was amazing, took pictures/video and had great conversation. The crew was great at reassuring my kiddos of their safety and made it a fun trip for them both. Will visit again!

I am not one for heights, my wife not crazy about getting her hair wet on rides, so what better to do than go where I will be really high in the air and the odds that the wife will get wet are really good? The last thing I said to Christian and Casey (I think was his name, my appologies if I was mistaken) was "feel free to get her wet" LOL They did better than what I hoped for. They were very safety oriented, I wasnt nervous at all. It was a great trip, we were the only guests on this day so that kind of made it a little more special to us. If I could recommend UFO Parasail (Kona) any higher (no pun intended) I would. To top it off they validated our parking...that saved an additional 10.00. Christian shot about 60 pics for us and they were all awesome. I highly recommend doing this if your in Kona. Thank You guys from the bottom of our hearts you made our visit even more special. (we went up 11/16/2021)

This adventure was so much fun! The guides were extremely knowledgeable and efficient with great customer relations and communication. We scheduled online for 4:00 and two minutes later they texted saying 4:00 might get rained out and could we come earlier. We said yes and were told exactly where to go to meet them. My daughter and I had a blast!

Is this near the where the cruise ships come in? Or is it a distance

If the harness doesn’t fit, they won’t let him fly.

Not a bit! You take off from a standing position, all strapped in. As the boat accelerates, the parachute fills, and you lift off. Super smooth. My 18 year old grandson and I went together since neither of us are the minimum weight to go alone. They had us land in a sitting position. We just held our les out in front of us, easy to do since you’re sitting in the harness. Again, no bouncing or jarring. 3 young girls went together and they landed standing up, I’m not sure why…maybe because they were smaller, or because there were 3 of them 🤷♀️

Aloha! We do recommend a day in advance, but same day bookings are welcome if we have the availability. If you have a strict schedule and need to book for a specific time, we do recommend booking in advance as some tour times can sell out, especially mornings which is preferred for weather and ocean conditions. It also depends on the time of year. Our busy season is usually around the time of Spring Break, Summer Break, and Winter Break if you are thinking about it in terms of when kids are in school. If you are arriving during those periods, I highly recommend at least a day in advance.

Do I have to go all the way up or just half way?

They give you two options. One is an 800 foot tether and the other is the 1200 foot tether. Plus they ask you if you want to be dipped in the ocean on your way back down. It's just above your ankles if you want that and it's very brief. If you don't want the dip then they will bring you down to about 50 feet above the surface and then take you back up some before reeling you in.

the previous answer is correct, its your choice halfway or all the way up, and if you want to get dipped or not, we went all the way up and it is so quiet up there, its not as bad as you think going all the way up, it looks higher from a far, but its nice cause you can see more.

when booking, the only option is 6. unfortunately, there is 7 in our group. is there any way of accommodating 7 or is it maxed with 6 people?

Currently our Kona location can only take 6 people out per departure, but our Maui location can take up to 10 on a boat. We hope to have larger boats in Kona soon!
