What we liked best about this Kua Bay beach: almost everything! The water was a wonderful azure set against the austere, black volcanic rocks beside the approach road and scattered behind and at the edges of the magnificent sandy, crescent-shaped beach. The waves were fairly gentle, making it a safe spot for children, with a moderate swell cresting near the... More

This is a great little beach I stumbled upon. This was my first trip to Kona and finding good beaches was like a daily adventure. Understand, you are in Hawaii so it would be the most difficult to find a bad beach, but what I noticed on Kona is you drive along and see these signs that say public shoreline... More

This beach is awesome! We drove by the Magic Sands Beach on a weekday afternoon and it was packed, so we decided to hit up this beach on our way back to the Hilton Waikoloa. It's a long drive in, but once you get there it's like a hidden treasure. The beach itself has beautiful white sand and a very... More

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen. The waves are huge and there were many people surfing and body surfing. Take caution with small children and inexperience swimmers, however. Easy to get pulled out scary if waves pull you under. Powerful! Use caution.

Beach is close to Kailua. There are showers and restrooms available. We went at approximately 3pm on a Saturday and the place was packed. Parking sucked. Nice place, but I would avoid the weekends.

This is a nice beach just north of Kona. It is a sandy beach on a paved road. The surf is fun to swim and boogey board and the snorkeling along the reef on both sides of the bay is great...lots of fish and beautiful coral.

Lovely beach suggested by the helpful cashier at Longs (forgot sunscreen?!) - trusted her and followed the road down to a LOVELY beach with beautiful white sand, clear blue water, and HONU! (turtles) - returned later (for bandaids) and thanked her!

You have to know about this beach ahead of time or you won't find it. There is no sign on the highway to indicate that there is a beach. If you are physically imapred this is not the place for you- it is rocky down to the beach. There is no shade. However, the beach is unspoiled, the water is... More
