We dove with Pacific Rim Divers on 5/17/21 for a 2 tank AM dive. This was only our second boat dive and Patrice and Frank were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Our boat was made up of 4 other seasoned divers (one hit her 500th dive on our trip!), me and my husband (novice divers who were certified in January with about 20 dives total now). We set up our own gear and were offered many tips on how to do things the best/safest way without ever being made to feel dumb.

Patrice’s guiding was excellent; spotting, signaling, and writing down what she was seeing during the entirety of each dive and we saw a lot of cool things- turtles, barracudas, frogfishes, octopi, and many many fish.

It’s clear Frank and Patrice are pros through and through. The group we were with has been diving with them for years and it’s easy to understand why. My husband and I were delighted by the experience and cannot wait to come back and dive with Pacific Rim Divers again.

We just finished another 2 weeks of diving with PRD, we had an amazing time. Frank and Patrice really go out of their way to be sure you have great dives. Bottom times are better than any other boat I've ever been on, and Patrice can find the most interesting and hard to find critters.

While we were there the Coast Guard boarded to do a spot check, they said it was the first time they ever boarded a commercial boat that they could not find any issues to report. Frank runs a tight ship and keeps everything working as it should be.

They are following all the required covid processes, masks, sanitizing and only allowing a minimum number on board, so you can feel safe if that is something that concerns you.

We can't recommend them highly enough and will be back to dive with them soon.

Captain Frank and Divemaster Patrice were great. They helped me stay safe, the scuba equipment was in good shape, the boat was large and comfortable and we only had 6 to 7 divers each time I went with them (I did 2 two-tank dive mornings.) We went to some great dive site, One with lava tubes to swim through, one with a big coral arch. Lots of sealife. Patrice was particularly good at finding the creatures hiding in the cracks and writing on her slate so we could learn what they were. I particularly liked that we had individual attention. If you want to go with the big companies with huge boats and divers and snorkelers who trip over each other, have at it. But if you want interesting, safe, gorgeous dives, go with Pacific Rim.

Patrice and Frank are a great team. They take care of everything. Patrice can find the smallest creatures and knows every reef. She makes an effort to understand what each diver wants to see on the dive and then finds the fish or creature. They provide very generous dive time for those who do not use alot of air. The snacks are the best. They make you feel comfortable and safe right away. Lots of laughs and easy conversation. No need to stop at the dive shop, come straight to the boat!. The best review, is that many locals dive with them and have for years. Hot shower on the boat to stay warm between dives.

These folks are the best dive outfitter on Kona. Small boat so not a crowd of people on board breathing on each other. Corona is going about, so a small group is very important. I felt very safe going diving with them. Fair prices. Organized. Meet them at the harbor. Do your paper work and get your gear on board. Set up your gear if you brought your own. Or get organized and try on the loaner gear. Last trip to the on shore rest room and you are going out diving. This is not a cattle car dive boat with 18 or 24 divers. This is small group diving where every one wears a mask. Good snacks (both sweet and salty). Some times fresh citrus fruit. The boat is remarkably quiet. You can tell some one put thought into the boat design. No gear every where all over the deck to trip over. Shelves under the seat for fins and dive bags. A raised shelf above it for the stuff you wish to keep dry like a towel or clothes. And a small plastic box for eye glasses, and the car remote that can not get the least bit wet. Nice deck lay out with shade for those of us who burn and do not sun tan!! And places in the sun for those who want a bit more sun. Name tags on tape so you know where to sit and set up your gear. A big table for snacks and water. Guide books so you can look up the stuff you see, was that really a Hawksbill Turtle or a pink scorpion fish?? Frank is a deft hand at the helm of the boat. Patrice is amazing at finding cool things to see and to help you identify them. This is not a party boat. If you need a dive valet, a back rub, warm towels, and a gourmet sandwich... this is not the right out fit for you. These people are scuba divers and it shows.

This is by far the best dive tour I've ever done!! Patrice and Frank were incredibly friendly, and they made us feel very at home on the dive boat. This company/Frank+Patrice were SO organized, and this made the experience run so smoothly - Our BCDs and regulators were already attached to our tanks and ready for use right when we arrived, and weights were already inside our BCDs (after Patrice asked what weight we usually used/guessed for us if we didn't know) - this eliminated any time we would have to spend trying to put our gear together ourselves and hustling around the boat while we were already on the water. It actually felt pretty luxurious to have all the gear set up for us, as this is my least favorite part about diving. Additionally, they provided a wide variety of yummy snacks on the boat, which I rarely see at other dive companies, and this was great for getting some energy before the next dive. Further, Patrice was an AMAZING dive guide and pointed out so many creatures I had never seen before! My favorites were the nudibranchs and the Whitley's boxfish (extremely rare!). I would recommend this experience to absolutely everyone who has experience diving. It was definitely catered to more advanced divers, or divers who have dove more recently, but even if you need a bit of refreshing, Patrice and Frank were more than willing to help! If I'm ever back in Kona, I will absolutely be booking with them again!

Pacific Rim Divers is, by far and away, the best scuba operator I’ve had the privilege to dive with. Every aspect of their operation is about quality and customer service. From the moment you get on their boat, Frank and Patrice treat you like close friends. Alexia and Sandy (I hope I got her name right) were superb at finding the critters and timing their dives in a manner that isn’t rushed…just fun! We found a huge manta on the first day as well as some very rare reef fish and baby (pronounced bee-bee) fish, including a rockmover wrasse. During the week I was diving with them, I’m pretty sure there were more repeat customers on the boat than first-time customers like me. Many of them were very experienced divers who brought a lot of knowledge to the boat as well. They’ve had the chance to work with all of the other dive companies on the island, but they come back to Pacific Rim Divers. I will be back to Hawaii and will definitely dive with them again. Patrice, I’ve proven I “make good choices” by choosing Pacific Rim Divers. Thank you for the terrific experience!

We did 8 dives with Pacific Rim. We had a few other companies booked but ditched the others to keep diving here!

We saw turtles, dragon eels, viper moray, eagle rays, nudibranchs, flame angels. The list is too long to mention here but the dives were amazing and no need to drive an hour to get to the dive sites.

Patrice’s enthusiasm was infectious both in and out of the water. She pointed out the fun stuff with an experiment eye and let us do our thing when she saw we could control our buoyancy. Octopuses, nesting Sgt Majors, ghost shrimp. She saw it all and helped us get comfortable after 2 years out of the water.

Frank captained the boat and got us in and out of the water safe and sound with some diving jokes and jibes for the surface interval.

Allison and Alexia took over for our last couple dives and we’re just as great finding us the scorpion fish, lion fish, and barracuda.

Also, hot shower on the boat! Glorious.

A lot of locals on the dive boat say a lot about the quality. Great boat and guests. We’ll be back!

If you hate over crowded dive boats and are looking for a first class dive operation, Pacific Rim is the choice for you. With a maximum of 6 - 8 divers led by a team of friendly, professional dive masters on a custom made boat you are guaranteed a wonderful experience. Whether you are into the small critters or large ones, this crew was able to find them. We were visited by a 20' - 30' whale shark on our first dive which set the stage for four fantastic dives. Pacific Rim will NOT disappoint!

Wow! What a great operator! We have used different operators all over the Caribbean, Florida, etc and never one as good as the Pacific Dive team. Alexia was our dive master for our two days of diving. She is patient, extremely knowledgeable about the dive sites and things to see. She methodically works her way on the dive to ensure you see the most creatures you can from the largest to the smallest. She also takes the time to ensure your equipment is suited for you and meets your needs for the dive .You will also more than likely get to dive with "regulars" who have been diving with this operator for ever. It made each trip feel comfortable, yet professional at the same time. Frank was operating the boat during our trips and was amazing. He helped all the divers get in and out of the water and was funny and interesting to chat with between dives. Patrice was leading the other group on each of our dives, but I can imagine she would be amazing to dive with too. Can't wait to visit again and book some more dives!!!!
