This small pier has people swimming near it in the mornings and fishing off of it in the evenings. We watched several people, including a woman, fishing off the pier with long bamboo cane fishing poles. On one side of the pier has downtown Kona and the other side has the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha Beach Hotel. Near the... More

Always a delight to visit.Eary in the morning you can see kayakers, swimmers, stand-up-paddle boarders, fishermen, and out rigger canoes. On Saturdays( seasonally) canoe races, a must see and do.

It's a pier, if you don't know what that is you have no business being on one. Fishing at night is good, small little place to swim with the kids on calm days and night. And all water activities involving a boat start from here.

Lots going on here, swimming, boat rides, snorkeling, boat racing, paddle boards, very busy! Loved watching the local canoe teams leave from this point.

All sorts of group activities depart from this day to find pier, at the edge of downtown Kona right next to the "King Kam" (now a Courtyard by Marriott) hotel. Have been on this pier too many times to count in the past couple of decades. It is well lit at night too.

Arrived by cruise ship and very easy tendering process to shore. We enjoyed going ashore in Kona and felt safe exploring the area. Town and small shops are an easy walk from the dock. Restrooms are also located at the dock. We spent a couple hours there before going on an excursion booked through the cruiseline.

The Kona Pier is an interesting place to check out. It is on Alii Drive across from many restaurants and shops. It is near the King Kamehameha Hotel. There are daily excursion boats coming and going there.

I had heard so much about this area that I was excited to visit for the first time to the Big Island. I sure won't go back as it reeks of cheap with a clutter of crummy tourist trap shops, dirty and not my cup of tea especially compared to Maui and Kauai for far better shopping close to the... More

During our stay they had outrigger races here at the pier, so enjoyable to watch from the pier and from our room. They even had an even that included a race with their dog on the paddle board with them. Great place to swim, kayak, catch a body glove cruise, snorkel, paddle board, watch a sunrise or sunset!
