Vivid, bright colored paintings and prints depicting Hawaii, sports, aquatic life and our favorite Dogs. A master artist. We bought to small prints for our family, both of coarse featured dogs. Quite memorable.

Cindy's artwork is simple beautiful, full of vibrant color! We had to purchase a view pieces to add some more life to our already tropical, colorful home. We now get to revisit Kailua-Kona everyday through Cindy's creative talent. Make sure you check it out when in Kailua!

While visiting Kona, you will want to take a few minutes to visit this gallery if you like colorful local art. You don't have to buy something and worry about getting it home without damaging it. She will send it to you for a reasonable charge and take the worry out of it. I put my print in my sunroom, and it brings back good memories of my visit to Kona every time I look at it. I actually purchased mine on-line as I made my decision after I returned home. She was quick to answer my questions and fun to "talk" to on-line.

When I walked by this place I could not take my eyes off of the artistic talent of Cindy. She wasn't there on the day I visited (recovering from foot surgery), but her lone staff was very informative and accommodating. If you spend $100 or more they mail for free to the mainland. I bought a few items of course because she has a few dog rescues that she incorporates into her art of Kona, and they are adorable!! Her art really reminds me of the vibe of Kona, kick back, adventurous, beautiful and not too touristy.

A stop at The Cindy Coats Gallery is always such a pleasure. Cindy is an extraordinary artist . Her work is, in a word, amazing. The colors and many of her subjects truly capture the beauty and unique spirit of Hawaii. You will often find her in the gallery chatting with customers, or working on some new and beautiful piece. The best part of a trip to the gallery, besides being able to see the beautiful artwork, is the truly friendly and happy atmosphere. You need not be knowledgeable about art, you just need to know what you like. Cindy, or any of the staff at the gallery will make you feel relaxed and comfortable, not rushed, not pressured, not "stalked". Just welcomed and appreciated. There are everything from prints to originals available, so the Gallery offers pieces in all price points, something not always found in other art galleries.

Cindy Coats gallery is a wonderful experience not to missed. She is often on site thinking up new design ideas and putting it on paper. The experience is so upbeat with unique fun designs, bright colors and the great personality of Cindy and her staff. Big Island inspiration is found in many of her pieces and I am astounded how she keeps coming up with such witty, original designs. You will smile as soon as you walk in the door.

When I got off the ship in Kailua-Kona, the first thing I saw when I got to 'town' (a quaint little place) was this gallery. I followed my fellow travelers to lunch, then some shops and wheeled us back to the gallery. As soon as I walked in, the person behind the counter beamed at me and I just knew she must be the artist; after-all, the art beamed too! I was right. When I asked she confirmed she was the artist and I walked out with 2 beautiful signed pieces and a picture of us together.
I highly recommend stopping by. No high pressure sales here. Just a small, clean, well-lighted place for art that celebrates a joyful life and the woman who made it.

I stumbled into this perfectly located gallery on behest of my boyfriend on our Hawaiian cruise. The bright colors had drawn his attention from across the street as we searched the area for some Poke bowls. We are both art, fashion and creativity enthusiasts and the gallery did not disappoint. The walls are covered in original masterpieces by the lovely Mrs. Coates who draws inspiration from many things including nature, Hawaii and her lovely canine babies. It was an obviously lucky day for us as it had rained pretty bad for some time earlier and we’d watched the small beach near the gallery empty in minutes only for the sun to come right back out half hour later allowing us to have the beach all to ourselves. Our luck continued in the gallery, as we looked around and were met by a petite blonde woman with an enthusiastic grin standing behind the counter, whom was none other than le artiste Herself in the flesh, Mrs. Coates! Apparently she’s only in the gallery once a week. She immediately greeted my boyfriend and I and asked us where we were from which led to a joke (by her) that completely broke the ice for all of us. We laughed hard to say the least. While she chatted us up I’d noticed a particularly amazing piece of art hanging behind the counter. The detail, extraordinary use of colors and textures and thought put into all of the pieces are astounding but this one painting just stood out for me in particular. Once she took it down so we could take a closer look my boyfriend dissected it and was able to interpret so many details most people probably would miss. The painting was so much deeper then it’s initial obvious beauty. It was asleep and aware, day and night, light and dark, man and woman, love and liberty. Every detail of the painting lead to a metaphor and a deeper meaning. What makes art collectible and memorable is the story it weaves in the strokes of the brush. “The name of the work is ‘When Doves Fly’ ”, she declared. How clever! At a price of over 2 grand we considered buying the miniature framed copy which would have went perfectly on our customized wall. But the original was just so powerful I had trouble imagining myself without it. As other customers poured into the store we decided to walk off and chat about It some more over a poke bowl and a mai tai. An hour later we were back. My boyfriend was leaning towards the smaller more affordable $200 framed mini, which was in all honesty the more responsible choice. Cindy was light and lovely and not pushy at all. Her easiness was apparent and I could tell she would be ok with whatever we decided even if it was to just thank her for her time and be on our merry way. In the end we walked out front with it and took another look in the sun. The painting gleamed and the moment was magical. It looked wet like she had just finished painting it a minute ago and that was when I decided the investment was definitely worth it for us. We chatted some more, got a better deal on it, exchanged memes, took a photo and gave our address to have the masterpiece shipped to our home in NY where it hangs on our bedroom wall right in front of the loveseat we sit at every morning and evening. I stare at it everyday and it reminds me of Hawaii, the lovely woman behind the art I had the pleasure to meet, and the deeper meaning of everything the painting whispers to me. I feel like you painted this for us you just didn’t know it! Thank you Cindy, you are a true artist and a beautiful soul.

This gallery is tucked away under Splasher's restaurant. The artist does whimsical, colorful paintings of local fish and flora. We have been here twice, met the artist both times and purchased a piece each time. We love her work.
