I randomly came across this boat while looking at options for Marlin fishing in Kona. This boat looked much nicer and updated compared to many other options. Pricing was also very fair compared to other options. 5 others and I went out for a day of Marlin fishing with Captain James. The boat was very nice, clean and well equipped. James is an excellent captain and was very knowledgeable on the fishing in Kona. The deckhand Trip was really fun and was so good with the two kids we had with us. Having recently moved to Kona I am so happy I found this boat and Capt. James. Now I know who I will call again when we have people visiting. We had a great time and would highly recommend this for anyone looking to fish and see the beauty Kona has to offer from the sea. I will for sure be chartering again with Blue Hawaii! I highly recommend this boat!

My wife and I wanted to spend some time fishing and sight seeing and found the Blue Hawaii charter. From the moment we arrived Captain James and his ship mate Toben made us feel right at home. They ensured we were comfortable and understood the process when deep sea fishing. The boat is first class, with an air conditioned cabin. The boat was clean and they put us on fish. We brought home some fresh Mahi Mahi. Grilled it for dinner - it was awesome. Would definitely recommend this charter and we will book again on our next visit to the big island.

What a wonderful day on the beautiful blue ocean! We four had a full day fishing trip. James and Tobin are the best team. James’ experience as Captain is evident as he trolls for fish, and maneuvers his boat when a marlin is on the line. Tobin is the best mate we have ever had fishing. He is very patient and gives gentle direction if needed when in the chair. We had the best day with them - we stayed on the deck and above talking with them the whole day. No need to go in the cabin - except for beer and food, and to use the restroom. If one does want to lounge below deck, the accommodations are very comfortable. We were at the tail end of August, which is when fishing season is coming to a close. But still caught a 175-200 lb Marlin (released) and Mahi Mahi (filleted by Tobin, a must watch)!

My second time fishing on the boat. The spacious bridge on the Blue Hawaii features leather couch seating and captain’s chairs - where you can find shade or sun, plenty of fresh air, and ability to whale, bird, dolphin, or lure watch. ;) Thanks to Captain James Dean, I had an awesome experience catching a 200 lb Blue marlin, which was tagged and released. Great day of fishing with family!!

We just had an unbelievable experience with Captain James and Tobin on their beautiful boat. I had fished before and so had my son (17), so we knew the deal, but it was the first time for my wife and daughter (14). It was slow to start, but they used the time to provide us with some lessons and education so that we were ready. About three hours into the trip we were all sleeping and the Captain came to make some lunch when Tobin yelled "Fish" and we got to work. My 14-year daughter was up first and jumped into the seat. Over the next forty minutes, James and Tobin expertly coached my daughter and maneuvered the boat as she fought with a 500+ plus Blue Marlin. Tobin worked with my daughter to make sure that she knew what to do and when to do it, even as this massive fish jumped out of the water and tried everything it could to get away. As the fish got closer you could really see the experience kick in, the Marlin tried to go under the boat which often makes the line snap, but the Captain made sure we were always going faster than the Marlin so it stayed behind us. When the Marlin was tired he backed up the board to shorten the line and make it easier to take in line. When she finally got the Marlin close to the board Tobin was able to bring it gently to the side so we could take pictures and release it. They were almost as happy as us to see my daughter bring the fish in. Highly recommend that anybody in Kona that wants to fish should try Blue Hawaii.
