The family had a great experience with Dom and his team. Not only did we all get up, but we also came back for more. Dom is an excellent coach, he was prepared with different equipment, and a local knowledge that guaranteed we had great waves.

My 12 year old daughter and I had a great time. We originally booked on Tuesday, and had to reschedule for Thur. because there were no waves Tuesday morning. Book this activity early in your trip so you have time to reschedule if needed.
They also let me cancel a reservation for my timid 8 year old at the last minute without charge. All the instructors were great, and I highly recommend this company.

This is a long overdue review. I went to Kona back in August with my girlfriend. My girlfriend and I went out to surf. I was trying to teach her but she was having a tough time. When we were in the water I met Austin and he offered to switch boards with my girlfriend so that it would be easier. While he was doing a group lesson, he was nice enough to help my girlfriend catch her first wave (and many more)! I thought it was really nice of Austin to go out of his way to help us because we didn't even take a class. I think that just shows how genuine these guys are and if I were to ever come back I would definitely book a lesson with these guys. Thanks for such a great experience Austin!

My 8 and 11 year old daughters wanted to try surfing, so we booked a semi-private session with Jay and Nolu. The water was really calm, so the waves weren't all that big, but we all got some rides in anyway. My kids LOVED it. Really excellent first time experience.

Great experience! First time surfer and our instructor was awesome. Very friendly and engaging. Made sure we felt comfy in the water and safe while encouraging us to catch waves. We both were able to stand quickly and catch a few waves. Highly recommend.

My kids wanted to learn to surf in Hawaii (14 and 10yrs old) and this place came highly recommended. The kids had an awesome time and stood up on the board on the 2nd try. The instructors are super patient, used to working with kids and very encouraging. So much so, both kids are now hooked on surfing - so more expenses from the bank of dad in the future when we get back to California. Also they got to see a sea turtle right on the beach they were launching from. Awesome people - great experience!

Great time for first time surfers. Chris was an awesome instructor and was fantastic with my shy 10 year old. Highly recommended if you’re interested in surfing or in having a blast on The Big Island.

These guys rent surfboards across from a nice surfing beach; basic stuff.
Make sure you check the gear over with them before you hand over the credit card.
We rented a board for my daughter for a few hours, and came home to extra charges;
the cost of a new board! They claim we broke it in the middle. Got photos.
Maybe it's damaged, but not by us.
Difficult to resolve these things from home.

Our 2 kids and my cousins 2 teens had never surfed before, but all of them felt safe and comfortable out on the waves with their awesome instructors, Dom and Forest! They were standing up and surfing in no time! Our kids had Dom as their instructor and was fantastic... Patient, knowledgable, and an all around great guy! This was definitely a highlight of our time in Kona... We did the semi-private lesson, and it was worth it!

Dominic was great on the phone and "sold" the lesson- Duane was great on the water and giving the lesson BUT when we came back to rent a board for practice is when all the "service" went down the drain. Dominic said "students are students for life, they can rent boards for practice and when we are out there- we will continue to give them tips and help them progress"- NOT WHAT HAPPENS. The little Filipino guy pushes for more lessons and will not help kids to practice. Ignored my son and criticized us for coming back to rent a board for practice rather than buying more lessons. If Dominic is going to "sell" this follow up- then his "team of instructors" should back up his claims....NOT THE CASE. Save your money and go find Ian Yoo- he delivers the right technique, the right instructors and the right service at the best price!
