My family and I like to escape the rain in Seattle every winter and our favorite place is the Big Island of Hawaii. This year we brought our boys and my 16 year old and I wanted to go sport fishing. We chose Camelot Sport Fishing and it was the best choice ever!! The captain and crew are fantastic; the took the time to educate us, shared their experience and even fed us the best smoked fish we have ever had!!
If you want a truly memorable experience you have to book a trip with Camelot Sport Fishing!! We will definitely be back!!

Our family booked an afternoon fish, noon to sunset on Halloween. Best Halloween ever!! Captain Robert responded quickly when we contacted him earlier in the week and we easily booked our desired day. When we arrived he explained the boat rules and we were out of the harbor and fishing in no time. It was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the scenery and company. We were fortunate enough to catch a beautiful mahi mahi (our 15 year old's first - he will never forget this!!- with excellent instruction from Capt Robert and Lyle). Thanks to the amazing Lyle who found a huge pod of dolphins that were leaping out of the water and splashing all around us. The boat is immaculate and comfortable and the expertise of Captain Robert and crew Lyle is impressive. We had a memorable and amazing day.

We had a wonderful day on the water with Captain Robert on the Camelot! Blue skies, smooth water and interesting conversations. Captain Robert and his crew, Captain Lyle and Christopher were extremely friendly and informative on safety procedures and the operation of the poles (some of us were quite inexperienced fishermen!). We were enjoying a relaxing day on the water and thinking it was a great day even if we never caught any fish, but then POW! we got a bite and one of our group reeled in a beautiful ono! It was so exciting to watch her reel it in and the crew was extremely helpful and even cleaned the fish for us at the end of the day!
We would highly recommend this boat and captain for an exciting fishing adventure in the Kona area. The boat is the perfect size for 4 guests!

Just a heads up....If you are a party of 2 people DO NOT buy a Groupon for this excursion. The merchant offers a Groupon for 2 and states in the fine print that this trip is for a maximum of 6 people but mentions nothing about a minimum. When I called to make the reservation he refused to honor it and told me I should have called first. If he is not willing to take a party of 2, he should state the minimum in the fine print. So, in the end I am stuck with $200+ in Groupon credit because the 3 day refund window had passed. Needless to say, we won't be fishing with Camelot.

I am so sorry for the misunderstanding I cannot go with just 2. In these trying times of pandemic everything has changed. People are not coming and we have been out of business like every one else in a tourism driven economy. We are blessed to be surviving here a little bit. I am so sorry about Groupon. But in these trying times I am only hoping that people come here.. We are hurting and to go with just 2 people at a Groupon rate would cost us money we do not have. Hopefully you can spend the Groupon cash another way.. And hopefully we can get back to normal sooner than later. Please come and try again in happier and more normal times I would love to take you fishing We are good at what we do.

Once again Camelot Sports Fishing didn't not disappoint .If you are looking for a boat to take your kids on for the first time I highly recommend the Camelot they are very family oriented. The boat is very clean and well taken care of. I can not say enough praises about them.

We chose the shares group fishing tour as I do not fish, but my husband does. I actually ended up catching a fish! The water couldn’t have been more beautiful and the crew was very informative. Unfortunately, not many fish were biting this particular morning. But, as any one who has fished before knows, you can’t control what is biting the line on any one particular day. Our group did manage to catch a couple smaller tuna and we’re able to take them home. We would book this charter again.

Our family had an absolute blast with Captain Robert, Lyle, and James! This is a first class operation and they treated us great. My 14 year old son caught his first sport fish, a Blue Marlin, in under 4 hours. The crew did a great job of working with him, encouraging him, and helping him get the fish into the boat. Definitely the highlight of our vacation. I would highly recommend the crew of the Camelot to anyone who is in search of a great sport fishing experience.

We have been with Robert many times now. He is good captain and knows how to handle the Camelot when infrequent fishing persons like ourselves are reeling one in to keep that line taut. We went twice. The second time out we enjoyed a six hour with Chris, his son and captain of his own boat, working as his shipmate. We landed a nice 60 pound striped marlin. Need I say more?
Get out there!

So fabulous to see y'all again. We love our client family and you two are certainly part of our family.. You were the next to last trip we took. The State of Hawaii has suspended all ocean activity as we are not allowed to do trips anymore till further notice Every one in the same boat. If you are planning to come please call me as I hope the situation changes as quickly as it happened. That goes for everyone Please everyone be safe and comply.. Good luck

Our family chartered the Camelot for a day trip. The weather was gorgeous and we caught a beautiful Mahi Mahi. Points to the Camelot team for achieving the main goal of the outing, which is why I am generously awarding them more than one star.
They lost two stars because they were rude hosts. They yelled at several of my family members. The reason for the yelling is that we broke some of their rules, however apparently the only way to learn about these rules is to break them and get yelled at. They were also quite annoyed by my sister with down syndrome. She is special needs, but yelling at her is not the proper way to interact with her. Instead of welcoming us as paying guests, the crew made us feel like invaders in their home.
Finally, at the end of the trip, we were told that the crew gets half of the catch. We shared it with them, but it would have been nice to have been informed of that before hand.

First off this review really hurts.. I don't understand how this could have happened on our boat. Perhaps misunderstanding is the word here. We certainly have rules which we brief every morning before we go. Safety and not breaking the toilet are so very important to us. As far as yelling at our clients we just don't do that and being annoyed at your sister is certainly not our style. I see that you did our trip last year and was wondering why you did not call us or tell us as the trip was going that you were not happy..You can still call me at 808-936-9515 and we can talk about what happened.. I feel horrible that you feel this way. Maybe somehow we can make you feel better. Also as far as how the fish goes it is common knowledge in Kona that the fish belongs to the boat. We are one of the few boats that will give the clients fish. We love to share and make your experience the best ever. Once again my deepest apologies for your experience. Honestly we try so hard..

We had a nice time on a six hour fishing/snorkeling trip. We were disappointed the big fish weren’t biting for us, but they made a special effort towards the end to make sure our kids each got to catch something and made a big deal about each one. They even took the extra time to clean the smaller fish we got so the kids could bring them home to grill.
The snorkeling was a great experience for all of us, and we felt very safe as there was always at least one if not two or three sets of eyes on the five of us the whole time we were out.
Captain Lyle, James, and Ryan were great to work with and interesting to talk to. They did all they could to find us some big fish, but the day was against us. They were clear about rules (no eating/drinking inside, where we could and could not sit for safety, etc.), but kindly reminded us when we forgot something.

Thanks so much for the review. We really appreciate it. We do love to make the kids have fun and make a big deal because fishing is a great past time. Making memories is what it is all about. Thanks for respecting our rule of no eating in the cabin cause we like to be bug free. Nothing worse than a roach running threw your cabin There is plenty of places outside to eat in the sun or shade which we can hose off..Cant hose out the cabin LOL. Anyway thanks again..

I have been an owner at paniola Green for over 20 years. I am bringing a guest who has never been to Hawaii....he wants to fish....??? what is your set up and cost etc.

Before you can get an answer to that question you friend will need to tell you more than he wants to fish. How long does he want to fish for? What kind of fish does he want to land. Fishing in Hawaii is not like fishing in Mexico or Alaska. There is no availability to flash freeze your catch and ship it home. You might want to keep some and cook. Our family did. Sushi (Skipjack-ahi) and some cooked (Bigeye-ahi). The longer your trip the more fishing. You charter the boat for up to 6, so the price goes down per person the more you have. But you also have to share time in the seat when you have a fish on (giving everyone an opportunity to catch). Sometimes people share a charter, but those are typically for shorter trips. Charter trip times are 4, 6 or 8 hours long if I recall. Have this info for the captain and he can give you a quote.

We didn’t catch but hooked up for a short period on a marlin. It came off. The captain is amazingly fun and personable.
