ITs true what they say, the manta snorkel (or diving) experience is in a class by itself. But how to choose a good company among so many?! Kona Snorkel Trips was a great choice for us! The two guides and Captain (all women) were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Because it is a small group, it feels more personal and it was easy to know what to do to stay safe and have an amazing experience! There was one photographer who wanted to free dive to get a shot and they made this happen, too. We saw at least 7 mantras and they came right up to our lights over and over again! The boat was handled expertly and the guides told us all about mantas. It was totally dope, and I recommend Kona Snorkel Trips 100%.

We had an amazing time with Shari and the crew! They were very informative and took safety extremely serious. There were a few folks on the boat that wouldn’t listen to the safety messages given but the crew handled the situation well and made the whole experience completely worth it. We were able to see a ton of marine life and ended up booking two more trips with them while we were there. I highly recommend experiencing this awesome adventure and seeing the beauty Hawaii has to offer!

The night snorkel with manta rays definitely lived up to expectations. Shaylee, Shari and Captain Alexis certainly enjoy what they do and it shows in everything they do throughout the evening. They bend over backwards to make sure you're having a great time. We couldn't have picked a better night to be out on the water: it was warm, the wind settled down, there was an amazing sunset and the skies cleared on the way home to show off a beautiful almost-full moon. We saw a bunch of spinner dolphins on the way out to the cove. And to top it all off we had a baker's dozen of manta rays swimming all around us. We couldn't have asked for anything more.

We went on the Night Manta Ray Snorkel with Kona Snorkel Trips last night. What an amazing experience! Our crew of Sheri, Brin and Alexis were knowledgeable, professional and determined to make sure we had a great time. We could hear them strategizing about the locations that would offer the best viewings, and did they ever deliver. At one point we had 3 different mantas swimming below us at the same time. Our kids, 14 and 16 years old, loved it. We highly recommend Kona Snorkel Trips!

This all woman-crew were very thoughtful and genuinely cared that we were all having fun and doing well. They went above and beyond any other snorkeling tour company we have snorkeled with. This crew actually get in the water and snorkel with you. They guided us to good spots and pointed out various fish, and also made sure nobody wandered off too far. At the first area we went to they jumped in the water to check it out and found the visibility was ok but not optimal so - unlike many other tour companies we have snorkeled with that would have just stayed there - they actually suggested we try somewhere else which we all agreed to do, and took us to another area which was amazing, and then a third area which was even more amazing. In these two snorkel areas the visibility was incredible and the fish around the reefs were plentiful. Along the way we saw some whales too. The crew had snacks and drinks for us, and even helped us rinse our gear off at the end. I would highly recommend this tour company.

If you haven’t snorkeled with manta rays DO NOT miss this once in a lifetime experience! And book it with Kona Snorkel Tours. They are the best! This female owned and run company is the bomb and you will absolutely not regret booking an adventure together. Sherry the owner has been in this business a very long time and is an experienced captain. And tour guide Shea has the best personality! We just adored her! She’s warm, knowledgeable, very funny and is a total bad ass with all the tasks that she does in this equipment intensive endeavor. She works her tail end off and with the most sunny disposition to make sure you have the best experience possible. What an incredible person she is! If we ever get a chance to do this again we will jump all over it. Thank you Kona Snorkel Tours for making this surreal and fascinating experience with these beautiful gentle giants better than we possibly could have imagined!

Spectacular trip. Manta rays came inches away, flipping over , mouths wide open, non stop for 40 minutes. Efficient and well organized, informative guides. Fun boat ride too. Highly recommend Kona Snorkel trips.

We did the Manta Ray tour. Wow. What an incredible experience! We started with an efficient gearing up with wetsuits and snorkeled as well as a briefing. We then headed out into a beautiful sunset and we’re met by a baby humpback breaching alongside its 2 adult companions. After savoring that incredible experience we continued on to the bay for the tour. There were quite a few other tours going on but we slid right into our spot and into the water. I felt very safe and comfortable with our guides. Then the mantas showed up. I was not prepared for how huge they would be and how close they would get! I’ve never experienced anything like it. Our guides were very capable and kept us positioned to ensure a great experience. They could identify many of the manta by name by their markings. The ride home was bumpy and we were soaked with spray so I was glad I had brought an extra layer I didn’t mind getting wet. My 10 and 12 year old had a blast, with my 10 year old getting a little cold at the end. So glad we did this!

John and Jeanette were excellent, hospitable guides that made sure we had a positive and safe experience. The snorkeling adventure to Captain Cook monument/Kealakekua Bay was well organized and so very pleasant. The boat ride was so refreshing and the snorkeling was beautiful. They taught us about the area’s history and wildlife, and pointed out all types of fun creatures to observe, including humpback whales, sea turtles, octopuses ,eels and many types of tropical fish. Drinks and snacks are provided on the way back as well. They had all the necessary equipment and helped us make sure it functioned well. I highly recommend this tour,! I’ve done it several times on repeat trips back to the Big Island . If you combine it with their amazing night manta ray tour, you get a nice discount.

We did the late night manta ray snorkel. It was absolutely awesome! We had a constant showing by the manta rays, sometimes 5 at a time. We could not have asked for a better tour! We also enjoyed the boat ride as well and seeing such amazing stars, Milky Way, etc. My wife was a little nervous at first but she had no problems and she is so glad she did this! This is one thing you should definitely do in Kona as you can’t do this elsewhere.

Do you recommend your whale watch for 80 year old ? Mobility need walking stick. Also Manta Ray or snorkeling experience how is it easy to get in and out of the water? Any bath room on board?

My husband and I did the night manta ray snorkel.you are on the water for a few hours without a bathroom. It is a bit difficult for someone with mobility issues although she could certainly stay on the boat while you snorkel the sunset is Amazing 😀
