Snorkeling in 6000ft of water, then in lava tubes, and getting there in a wicked fast boat!

We heard of WHOA from a friend. Since we wanted to snorkel we gave them a try. Booking was a breeze. When we showed up at the dock we were asked which boat we were going out on. When we said Wild Hawaii the response was 'That's a really fast boat'. That was the understatement of the day! We went... More

Went with our teenager and a tween. This is very different from a typical snorkel around the reefs or at captain cook experience - the website doesn't really indicate just how different. The former navy seal raft goes very fast - a great fun ride. The trip seems different every time (based on my reading the other reviews below and... More

We (wife, 14 and 17 year old sons) did the snorkeling and marine life experience trip, and had a tremendous time. It really is a three part tour - each part equally good. First off, is that the boat they use enables them to go far out in the ocean at the start of the tour and see marine wildlife... More

We love it that you had a great time and how you broke down the adventure in 3 amazing parts. 1 is an ocean safari and everyday is different. 2 is a reef snorkeling and we have many we choose from depending on the surf that day. 3 is indeed fun and somedays we might have to tone it down... More

Seth and Brett gave us such a personalized tour! They were so knowledgeable about the marine life in Hawaii, and very entertaining as well! Definitely a first swimming in water 5,000 feet deep! We felt very safe under their guidance, despite our initial hesitation about going out in a Navy SEAL boat!

Incredible tour!! This is a "must do" on the Big Island! I didn't want just the standard snorkeling tour with tons of people. This is a small group tour (we got lucky enough that it was just our family of 5) on a former SEAL boat (that is a blast in and of itself) PLUS amazing snorkeling. Our guides, Seth... More

We thank you for taking the time to share what you loved about your WHOA adventure. You have as well answered a question many scuba divers asked us. Will snorkeling with WHOA be a let down or the other way around? Aloha More

We had an amazing day on the water (and in the water) with WHOA! My family of five had an experience of a lifetime snorkeling with Pilot Whales and Melon-heads. Our guides knew exactly where to find the beautiful animals, and took great care to keep us safe while offering us the opportunity to get in the water with them.... More

Mahalo for the time and review. We pride ourselves for being very experienced not just for driving a boat but with the marine life and have developed a respectful and successful method to our encounters. Thank you very much. More

We booked with WHOA again this year after taking a trip with them last year. It was a life-changing experience on both trips. Seth and Derron are both amazing guides and make the experience the best it can be! This is not a typical "tourist" tour. It is a personalized adventure, providing an amazing ocean experience. On both our trips... More

Left us hanging with no options and did nothing to help other than saying will refund. After furiously making calls found an angel from another company who did a private tour for us so that the afternoon wasn't ruined. I understand boats break but things book up and they Should have helped us with another option

Dear Roz The title is very misleading as we did give notice that we have to cancel. We showed up and talked to you and tried to offer other days as alternatives. In an ideal situation we all wish we could foresee cancellation or boat problems to even let you know way ahead of time and have you booked with... More

Do not go if you are an inexperienced snorkeler. This isn't the place to learn how. Our Captains were Paul and Deron. Both were very friendly and funny. Our ride out was fast and was thrilling. Unfortunately, the ocean was being uncooperative that day. The currents were very strong and we didn't see as much marine life as I would... More

Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts. They are very valuable. Although we have had inexperienced people on the morning trips, yes they do require some level of water comfort to be in blue water without seeing bottom and and to be able to relax. For inexperienced and novice people we do recommend the afternoon Kealakekua Captain Cook trip... More

We had a terrific time on our WHOA trip - there were 7 of us total on the boat which was a perfect number. Our family of 5 has a 12 year old boy, 15 year old boy and a 17 year old girl. We were able to see 3 different types of dolphins all swimming quite close to the... More
