Snorkeling off the beach

Good reef area - lots of body surfers, families although the shore break is very short and dangerous. Saw turtle, many colorful fish, eel, etc.

Most reviews I saw were accurate about this place. Magic sands reminds me of a smaller version of mokapuu beach on oahu. Nice waves for boogie boarding or body surfing but many times shore breakers so be aware. But good beach to lay out on too with some shade. Limited parking but we parked along Ali'i drive. Had facilities but... More

Magic Sands or it could be Magic Rocks depending on when you are there. The sand comes and goes with the storms. Summer is best for using this beach with kids or seniors. In the winter the sand disappears and there are rocks. The shore break also becomes dangerous. AKA "tragic slams". If you want white sands try Hapuna. If... More

There are much nicer and less crowded beaches. Unless you're a bodyboarder, in which case the waves here are really nice.

This beach has a sandy bottom and gentle waves that are good for boogie boarding and body surfing. Very crowded, but also conveniently close to Kailua hotels. Our family, especially the kids, had a great time here.

If you are in Kona make sure you stop by and take a swim on this amazing beach. The sand is clean, the water is clear, and there are plenty of shade to hide in.

We stayed right across the street from Magic Sand for a week this summer, and it was the perfect spot for swimming any time of day. Saw a turtle hanging out close to shore, lots of families and tourists alike. Loved it!

This beach is truly magic! White sand, cool waves, lots of locals - Hawaii feeling at its best. What people waveboarding, enjoy the magic sunset with its changing coulours and just relax. While staying in Kailua-Kona, I went to that beach twice. And I hope to get back there again ...
