the view is wonderful and unbelievable - don't even realize you are in hawaii. It's a site to see. The altitude takes adjusting but if you are able go it's worth it.

The marshall was so knowledgeable and we found out a plethora of information that made the volcanic hole much more than simply a steaming opening in the earth. Learned about the birds native to the volcano, the steam vents located miles away, the age of...More

A must see place on the big island. Spectacular views, spectacular sunset, starry night. It's at 14,000 feet, so one needs to be cognizant about the altitude sickness. That being said, I visited with my parents who are in their mid sixty and they enjoyed...More

The views up here are out of this world! The air is pretty thin so take your time to walk around, but it's completely worth it to watch the sunset, then do some stargazing! A must-do on the Big Island!

If you want a front row parking spot, earlier is better (probably an hour before sunset).
