Cade and Donovan were great. Caught a bunch of waves got the whole family up on a wave. Beautiful day on the water. Great guys. Super nice.

We had a great surf lesson today with Matt, Kama, and Danni! Matt helped my husband and I, and Kama and Danni each helped one of my girls, ages 6 and 9. All four of us were able to get up pretty quickly and had an amazing time, can't wait to go again.

I brought 17 High School Graduates for a week in Hawaii and 15 of them decided to try surfing/SUPing. Not only did I get to relax for a few hours from chaperoning, but got to watch from afar as the instructors took my students and taught them how to surf and SUP. It was cool to watch them ride the waves and explore the ocean, all while I just was wading in chest deep waters checking out the different fish in the ocean. All the instructors were patient with the students and gave them an experience of a life time. They were talking about it for the next day and a half!! Thank you to all the different instructors (can't remember all their names) and Kona Town Surf Adventures for creating a memory for the students that they will never forget!

Communication the day before was ok. They called to change location to adjust to the surf conditions. This was fine. I had to call them day of to remind them to send me the email with the location. our group of four had two guides. Local teens. The guy was fine. The girl was awful. She tended to push us into each other so half of the waves were ruined. She’s thinking about getting a hostess job you know. I know because she was very interested talking to the other guide. She was also very interested in her friend bringing her a watch so she knew when it was time to go. She was then REALLY interested in checking the time. Really this is just a teenager who’s not quite ready for her first real job. They didn’t provide much instruction at all. Look elsewhere for lessons.

Our teens did a surfing lesson a few days ago, and it was fine but they’ve had better. There was really no instruction and no tips on how to improve. There were so many surfers in the location that it was difficult because whenever they would catch a wave, they’d have to hop off their boards early in order to avoid hitting younger kids. I have no idea how Kona Town compares to other companies on the Big Island, but the lesson our daughter had on Oahu years ago was much, much better.

Aloha Am2indy Mahalo for sharing your experience. I do understand the frustration of having to many surfers in the water. Unfortunately for the big island our breaks are pretty rocky and reefy. Kahalu’u beach & old airport is one of the few breaks that are beginner friendly and safest. So we do see a lot of other surf schools and locals enjoying these breaks with us. We wish we had waikiki beach setting. I would like to further discuss your experience with our instructors so that we know better what we need to work on more. We want all our guest to Leave kona town surf happy and stoked for their lesson. Please reach out to me via email or phone at your earliest convenience. Mahalo Nohealani
