We stopped by Brist after reading about how great Croatian olive oil is. Paul spent the morning with us, teaching us about the differences between Brist olive oil and large producers of olive oil. The difference between these olive oils and the mass produced oils are night and day. Brist oils are so clean and fresh on the palate. Paul was a thoughtful teacher, encouraging questions, and giving honest and genuine answers. It was an incredibly enlightening and educational experience. We were able to taste all of the olive oils (and received a bit of instruction on that process) and ended up purchasing quite a few bottles to bring home. Paul was happy to provide additional materials on the olive oil so we could share what we learned with our family and friends.
While you are certainly welcome to merely try and buy olive oil, I recommend engaging in a discussion about the production of olive oil. We truly learned so much and are very appreciative of the amount of time that Paul spent with us and the information he shared. We will definitely be ordering again, if not returning for more olive oil education.

My first holiday in Istria in 2017, I went to the olive oil museum in Pula and took the class on olive oil tasting. It was an eye opener. A couple days later I visited the Brist store.
This is a professionally run, small family business and the product is not only amazing, it’s award winning. My first visit to the shop lasted 2 hours because they treated us like long lost friends.
Brist has turned into the only place we get our olive oil and every friend we bring there, whether they are from California, Ohio, Germany, or Austria, they have all ended up buying Brist Olive Oil. Those lucky enough to be in Europe have also continued to order it online after their holidays.
The farm tour is also great fun and I’ve spent 2 evenings there dining under the stars with friends and the amazingly friendly Brist team.
I just visited today to get oil for my household and for a friend in Salzburg who was here with us last year. This oil and this family will make an impression that you will cherish and it will keep you coming back year after year.

Thank you so much.
Although we know you well, I won't mention names but simply to say that we feel that you are really part of our family. Great evenings on the grove and so much positivity you have brought to us over the years.
Thanks for the recommendations and this one too. We do not advertise, it is your words, and those who really care about what we do that allow us to grow in the way we want to and keep the passion for our oils and the belief that anchors it.
We send greetings to Austria, 'Frisco and wherever you might find yourselves when not with us.
Paul, Lena and family crew.

An excellent tour! We had a tour trough the olive garden, the owner told us everything about the garden itself, including al the historical sites near the garden. Than we sat down to have dinner in the actual olive garden. Sunset, surrunded by olive trees, candle light, good food, good wine, exquisite olive oil... Need I say more? The owner was na excellent host and made the evening special. Good place to visit with your friends and have a good time.

We sampled their oils at the Amfiteatar hotel and were so impressed that we just had to visit the source. Brist olive oils I Vodnjan are a match for any in the world and that is some claim. go and explore, you won't be disappointed. Thanks Paul, you made our day.

If you are traveling through Istria make sure to stop here for a fun tasting! We came to the coast in hopes to try some decent olive oil and we were blown away by the taste of Brists' selections. Paul is a wonderful host and super knowledgeable in his field. He has changed our entire outlook on olive oil and it's production. We left with several bottles and will definitely buy from Brist again in the future. We can't wait to come back in the summer to visit the grove.

Thank you all for the very positive review, it was lovely to meet good Texans and of course the lady from Maryland!
It's always nice to have guests with us out of season so that we can really spend some extra time with you and I hope very much that you will make your way from your present home in Zagreb to us again during the summer for a Sunset Tour, you have really only so far experienced just a part of what we do, the best is yet to come!
Kindest regards,
Paul.

My husband and I contacted Paul and signed up for a tour and tasting for last Friday. Paul emailed us back immediately, offered a recommendation for dinner and even made our reservation for us (delcious place), and was an amazing tour guide. His passion for his family's craft was inspiring and who can blame him--their product and tour/tasting option are top notch. If you sign up for the tour, you get to go to the olive tree grove and sit on their amazing and newly built deck for the tasting (olive oil and some bubbly), overlooking the trees and sea. The fresh air is fantastic and really enhances the amazing olive oil. Above all, we were just so thrilled with how energetic, friendly, knowledgeable, and funny Paul is. STRONGLY recommend you check this tour out and we'll definitely sign up again (and buy more bottles) if we're back in the region!

Paul was very entertaining and knowledgeable about the virgin oil production and is a very good storyteller, always wowing us with entertaining stories.
Would highly recommend if you are around Pulu, its just a short 10 mins drive away!

Hi Tan,
Thanks for your review and kind feedback, we very much enjoyed having you with us.
I am sorry that your partner dropped her sunglasses on the gravel path where the cars park and they got driven over before anybody realized that they were missing. Although it was just a piece of very unfortunate luck and nobody's fault, I was happy to not charge for the 3+ hours with us. I hope this didn't take away too much from your positive experience with us.
Best regards to you both and safe trip home to Singapore.
Paul.

We stopped in for olive oil and wine tasting here. It is a great shop and we chatted with a man from Dublin who has made his home in Croatia. The wine and olive oil were great and his wonderful English meant he could answer all of our questions. If you are in Vodnjan be sure to pop in.

Thank you so much Kathryn for the review, every one is a great help in sharing our story.
I'm glad that you were able to understand the education part well, there is so much to learn so it is nice to be able to answer the many questions our guests have, and they usually have a lot as there is a lot of incorrect information out there about extra virgin olive oil.
For us as a family it is important that people understand as much as possible so you can make your own decision on what you might like to take home with you. We sell all of our oil that we produce every year so that means we have no need or wish to push selling our oils.
It was a pleasure to have you with us, we wish you a safe trip home when the time comes and that we will see you again in Istria and Vodnjan :-)
Paul.

Having read the great reviews on Trip Advisor, we were slightly disappointed to arrive at the shop to find it closed. A framed note in the window explained they were currently harvesting and gave us a couple of numbers to call. We called Paul and within ten minutes he was at the shop waiting for us. He explained that due to the weather, it was all hands on deck harvesting the olives. OK we thought, never mind....until Paul offered us a tour and a chance to see the olives being hand harvested. Yes please :)
Paul drove us there and made us feel at ease, chatting away as if we'd known him for years. At the Olive Grove, he explained about the different types of Olives, how they were harvested and the groves looked after. His Father in Laws passion and the whole families involvement in the process from start to finish was clear to see. In fact I don't think the Father in law was too impressed Paul was giving a tour and not helping with the harvest. We were allowed to help to hand pick a few olives and then driven back to the shop for a tasting sample. Paul explained how to taste and what to expect from each different oil. Wonderful products, can't wait to try them and no pushy sales techniques either. The love and passion from this family for their Olive Grove and their oil, truly shines through. Thank you Paul, your bewildered Father in Law and your olive picking 'family' for allowing us to interrupt your harvesting.

Thanks for the lovely feedback, it's really appreciated.
It was a nice change of scene to be showing the harvest process rather than doing it and the team clearly enjoyed having you with us, I think it was a nice opportunity to go up on the grove at action time.
As much as I avoided a little hard work during the afternoon, I still ended up loading 1,2 tonnes of olives later that evening!
Thanks for sharing a lovely afternoon.
Paul.

This should be the definition of an olive oil shop: great tasting, lovely tour and very friendly owners. Definitely worth the detour if you're around!

Hello, are you able to take children on a tour and tasting? Specifically a toddler?
Paul O
Pula, Croatia3 contributions
Hi Hayley,
Thanks so much for your question.
We have all ages visiting us including families with small babies and toddlers. The guests booked on the tour come up to the grove by car and we don't go too far from them, which means you have access to everything that you need.
Kids love to run around and it is a safe place, and when they do they usually want to sleep. In this case when mum and dad what to relax and enjoy the evening company on the terrace overlooking the Brijuni Islands, you can drive the car up right beside the terrace and put the little one sleeping with the window down and they are just feet away. That's what many of our guests do so little one can sleep in safety and mum and dad can relax.
We have two boys 3 and 8, so we know it can be stressful traveling with little ones. There is plenty of space for them to run around and make noise, this is after all a family experience and we were all toddlers once! :-)
Hoping very much meet the clan, young and old.
Paul.

Hi Silvano, you had kindly booked my cousin and me provisionally for August 38. We will be checking in our hotel near by in Bale and will probably will not venture out until the next day. I will try to stop in your shop on the way to Bale however. We can see if it will be possible to do the tour on another date. We are very excited to visit Croatia again. Our family is from Otok Ist originally so we plan a family reunion in Ist first. We will be seeing you soon, Carolyn Davi, Carmel, CA USA

I am driving through Vodnjan on August 28, 2017, and will stay two nights in Bale. Is that enough time to make a reservation for a tour? Do I need to do that before I begin my travels to Croatia? I will be visiting family in Croatia starting August 8, would that be enough time to book a reservation?
Thank you for any any information you can provide.
