We saw the church, the mummies and the little museum in the sacristy. We had a local guide, who was very nice and informative. The church is beautiful and the little museum has some very nice things, including one painting by Paolo Veneziano. The mummies...More

Old mummies dressed as catholic priests, skulls with cut-outs to hold flowers, labeled bones. Interesting in a very weird way. We love this little town though and want to go live there!

The interior of the church is very beautiful. I did the tour to view the mummies behind the altar. Our guide was very funny, entertaining and informative. Definitely a must-see if you are near the Pula area.

Vodnjan is a small historic town a few kilometers north of Pula. The church dominates the landscape with a separate bell tower (similar to some churches in northern Italy). Unfortunately, we couldn't see inside at the time we visited.

It would have been very easy to pass by this little town and its amazing church without knowing what we missed. Luckily my sister was in the back seat Googling the area. Some of my photos show the narrow road we had to walk down...More

We had hoped to see the mummies and relics at this church and paid the 15 kunas each to get into the church (collected by a man who seemed oddly disturbed that we didn't march right up to the desk and pay, even though the...More

If you are in the area of Istria, it’s worth paying a visit to the Church of St Blaise at Vodnjan to see the remains of the saints’ bodies which are preserved without having been embalmed. The church member who greeted our small group was...More
