We drove our rental car from Porec, free parking in a lot near the old town port. The huge harbor had a couple large yachts, fishing trawlers and tour boats as we walked into the main square. It is dominated by the freestanding 1651 108’ limestone bell tower and its accompanying 14th C Church with its interior beautifully painted in pastels of blue, yellow and peach. We then walked the narrow Gothic/Renaissance street of preserved medieval architecture out to the seafront seeing remains of its fortified walls.
A pretty setting around the huge harbor.

Simply stunning, the church is right in the main town square. It chimes on the hour. We had the pleasure to watch a concert organised with the stage right in front of the church. Talk about making memories, amazing place.

Neither church nor the tower are open for visitors. Umag only has a few remaining sites to visit during city center walk, but unless you are there from July to late September - everything is closed.

This is the very center of Umag and you cannot miss it. The church is typical for that area as well as the square in front of it.

We went in the church to see how it looks in the festive season - last day of 2015. Beautiful paintings and sculptures, small and nice church.

It is in the city center and is easy to find. It is free, but it is nothing special. Visit it only if you are in Umag situated and if you have time.

The square is empty and desolated...looks worse adding the absece of activities, galleries, small shops...the absence of attraction at all..
Nothing can attract you here unless you re in Umag anyway so you decide to take a walk..
I recomend no expectation at all so you wont be disappointend by this kind of experience...
Authorities MUST DO something to improve the old part of Umag, the real and very heart of this tiny town slowly slipping into the greatest of people inifference...
Just a suggestion...cause Umag could really become a tiny jewel as many of us can recall from the past..
A little effort..will..and enthusiasm..

I only managed to look at this church through glass as I was 30 minutes too late. I'd even bought a shawl to cover my shoulders. Like a lot of churches her it majored on decoration and had lots of painted plater and gold painted decoration. Fairly simple by Croatian standards.
