In a world of crappy corporate "art" this is the real deal. Pay no attention to the "next services 100 miles", it's way closer than that.
I've traveled most of these 50 states, and never been so moved.
No, this is not "great" art, but it is real art, it is America, it is a story of real people and real effort and years of work and love.

2 Guy's visit the Outhouse , Glass outhouse that is. We had heard about and decided to attempt to see. This is out of the city on the way to Amboy. Found it and it was part open on a Monday. Its free but leave a tip to help out.
Outhouse was locked but we could see it, wandered around about outside to see the different areas a lot to see. Funny and Sad

This was definitely one of the reasons I took a trip to Palm Springs. I have been reading about this wonderful little Gallery in the middle of nowhere. But what really peaked my interest was this working Glass Outhouse. This location did not disappoint upon my arrival I was greeted by the owner a wonderful wonderful lady. She told me the story of how she was an artist when she was younger and she couldn't get a start because you couldn't put your artwork in a gallery unless you were already in a gallery. So she decided to turn her rabbit Coupe into an art gallery. She wanted to have a place to display art for new artists. The gallery's top notch the artists that are displayed are amazing. They switch out the artist every 8 weeks or so. They closed down in July and open back up in September due to the Heat. On the first Saturday of every month they have live music with different artist display some new art. Grounds are full of art exhibits and Pathways leading to all of the art exhibits you could truly spend hours here. I was fortunate enough to see her new water tower that they painted like a fish tank super cool. Butt (hahaha) I got to say sitting down naked inside of a glass outhouse doing your business just looking out over the desert and no one can see in is pretty cool. they even have a fridge with cold beverages. Give this place a shot if you're passing through 29 Palms definitely worth the stop.

What a fun and creative place to visit out in the middle of nowhere. There are paths leading to all sorts of different whimsical items. We probably spent 45 minutes just walking around and we were glad it wasn't too hot as I'm sure this exhibit can get miserable hot. This old gentlemen has a very vivid imagination and the whole time we were there we were smiling, laughing and giggling over his inventions. He told us the lady who owns the place had been there forty some years and it started with a rabbit house which you will see at the back of the property. Most of the items have been found at garage sales. We thoroughly enjoying our time walking around, visiting with the man and taking pictures. Out of the way but a true must see.

This place was recommended to us as one of the few sights to see in Twenty-nine Palms. But after driving the extra miles out of town to find the place, we discovered that it was closed for the summer. So be sure to check on their schedule before you go!

Looks a little funky from the highway
Pull in the chalked parking lot... It's just past the mini church and steeple
Visual overload of creativity
Eclectic ideas abound
Wind chimes and movement from the wind
Yes, there is glass outhouse-- brilliant idea
Donations are accepted-- and its worth way more than whatever you contribute!
Creative cousins include: elmers bottle ranch in oro grande
Yes yes yes...glass outhouse is feast for the senses!

We stopped at the Glass Outhouse over the week end while doing the Highway 62 art ride. There was a fairly good sized quilt exhibit. However, while the pattern was identified, the name of the person who pieced it and/or quilted it was not. In the back there were some paintings and sculptures in a variety of media.
There is as much to explore outside the building, as there is in. A path will lead you to different desert vignettes. Additionally, there is a glass outhouse --with one way glass. You can see out, but visitors can't see in.
If you are in the area, it is worth a stop. I don't think it has regular hours but there is a good chance it will be open in the afternoon.

To each their own, but to me most of this stuff is just junk in the desert. I mean, if you are in the area and really have nothing else to do, then sure you could spend some time here. But otherwise I'd skip this...
