You walk down steps to get to this unusual church, built below ground according to Turkish stipulations. It is dark, but the beautiful golden, colorful icons stand out amazingly, especially considering the age (1600’s). Small, but well worth a stop.

This old church right next to the town’s opera house, is hidden somewhat by the thick trees in front of the church. While Its exterior is unimpressively simple, its interior is quite impressive with colorful murals and large chandelier.

Enter to see the art in the church. Very beautifull walls and woodwork. Must see it. In the same center of the city.

I would definitely recommend going to the cathedral. It really is unusual, it’s underground. Beautiful on the inside.
