Peaceful and bright interior and beautiful walking around the church area. You can sit where you like and rest or pray. About a kilometer walk to the hill is the sighting point. Clean WC and lots of shops with souvenirs around.

We did not spend much time here, as a christening was on. We went back in after the service had finished, but spent just a short time looking around as we only had an hour’s stay in Medjugorje.
I liked the look of the exterior, but inside was quite clinical - modern with no atmosphere. There was a lovely statute of The Virgin Mary though.

Basic Roman Catholic Church (quite bare inside) with extensive mass schedule for pilgrims. Attended French-language mass with 11 priests and 1 deacon presiding. Dozens of confessionals on both sides of the church (outside) and large outdoor mass area at rear.

This must be one of the busiest churches lots of masses in different religions. The church is simple yet comfortable and a spiritual place.

So much to do here at this parish. Masses are said multiple times each day, confessions held in many languages, educational lectures available to attend, gift store to purchase souvenirs and a beautiful place to find places to retreat and recharge your spirit.

St. James is the Catholic church in Medjugorje, place of pilgrimage for millions of Catholics, where mass is said throughout the day in different languages - as well as rosary, confessions, etc. It is now air-conditioned in the main church, but note that masses are often celebrated outside in the back, in the open air, where many more can be accommodated. Confessions occur in multiple languages on the side of the church. Note: mass times and other programs vary by season - summer (June 1st - August 31st) vs rest of the year.

Mass Schedule (summer time) - as of summer 2019 (best to double check once there)

Mon-Saturday 7:30 am Croation mass - all year round
Then, masses thereafter in various languages (12 noon French - summertime)
18 h (19 h - summertime) last mass of the day

Sunday & Feast Days
8 Croatian mass, 11, 18 h (19 h - summertime)
(check for specific mass times for other languages)

- Rosary 1 hour before the evening mass
- Confessions check times (during the summertime - there were confessions being heard at least an hour before the evening mass - might have been going on beforehand)

My mum was itching to visit Medjugorje and to pray in its most important church, so we went there. This church is quite modern, but interesting to see and easily recognizable by the two bell towers.

I am sri lankan a naturallty being dark skinned we were quizzed at the border fortunately we pallied up with a yougaslav girl who spoke english and she also knew the language, at the border all other passengers were passed over but when it came to our turn the officer at the border was skeptic about us. the girls whom we got friends with spoke on our behalf and we were passed through it was a bit frightening and we sailed into to medugorji joyfully our expectations of going into to visit our lady were at last ralised. one more thing we were lodged at a convent. we thought since we arrived late at night we might go to the shrine we did on returning the nuns wouldnot let us it we tapped and tapped and finally we had tophone our daughter in australia to contact the nuns who finally let us in i thought those nuns were from hell to give us a hella of a time not to let us in to our rooms.the review is only in relation to t6he spiritual nature of the visit human behaviour is not considered and not relevant it was a pilgrimage and to me it was my meeting with our lady that mattered human foibles did not matter
