Instead of the chapel this church was a surprise for me. This was actually the highlight of the day. Being in this church you realize this must have been a rich community here. A very beautiful church and absolutely worth a visit.

A must-see when at Traunsee/ Salzkammeegut-region. A bit of a hidden treasure, since they built the tunnel and all through- traffic is passing fast without a stop in Traunkirchen-Ort (old village). It.s a great and more quiet alternative to St Wolfgang ( Wolfgangsee) or Hallstadt ( Hallstaedter See) which are overrun by tourists in summer. Have a walk up the hill to see the chapel, visit the baroque church with its famous ‘ Fischer- Kanzel’, take a dip in the refreshing lake. Visit it by car, train or come by boat taking a round trip on the lake. Also easy to reach by bike along the lake using the old route. Great restaurant at Hotel Post 200 m away. …

Amazing location overlooking the lake. Large church in offering service in Traunkirchen. One of the most beautiful churches we have seen in Austria. As usual small cemetery on the grounds, overlooking lake. Immaculately kept.

The view of Traunsee lake from here is exquisite. We were here in January 2016 so a late review. Having a day sitting on the lakefront with our picnic was one of the most delightful things we did on our three month rail trip through Europe. A gorgeous, breathtaking spot.
