Soll - visit for a great ski holiday & recommend Soll Ski School
Feb 2020
Great holiday, in Soll - part of the SkiWelt extensive ski area - will revisit.

RESORT - picturesque, felt safe, with variety of good restaurants and bars for eating out and apres ski. Live music in bars most evenings.

Crystal Reps - available if needed, being friendly, informative and helpful.

SKIING - was excellent, easy access to lifts - free ski buses & only 15 minute walk to main gondola base station. No queuing for lifts. Recommend spending Eur 10 per person for ski depot garage underneath the ski hire shop, nearest the main gondola station (unless can ski back to accommodation)plenty of blue & red runs for beginners and intermediates, over which is why we chose Soll. Good skiing area with variety of runs - tour between nearby villages easily.

SKI SCHOOL - tuition was very good with my family experiencing 5 different instructors - all very good, spoke excellent English (many are English).

Special mention must go to Soll Ski School Instructor Phillip Saville - simply the best, professional, clear instruction/tips, encouraging and motivating all in group to improve, great personality and fun too, who took us on variety of slopes and tours of area. . Similarly thanks to Ski Instructor Yursten.

OVERALL - I would recommend Soll, Hotel Tyrol and the Soll Ski School.

Love this Resort
Feb 2020 • Business
Great resort, work here every feb half term love it!!!

Best for beginners and intermediates, whilst there are advanced runs, not massively challenging!!

This is a MASSIVE resort though, from the low fields of Going, up to the gentle slopes of Ellmau, through the Scheffau bowl to the higher steeper slopes of Söll and the Hohe Salve this is a great resort...try skiing over to Westendorf and back for the day you won’t be disappointed...

Visit in the summertime as well though, it’s well worth it!!

Poor piste management
Feb 2020 • Couples
First and last time in Ski welt. Half term and many pistes not groomed just ploughed. Lots of investment in lifts but this has resulted in poor piste management. Lots of harvested snow used (which isn’t a problem if it’s laid correctly) which was just chucked on slopes and made skiing exceptionally difficult. Sheffau and Ellemau areas were mega busy with ski school, so we avoided them. Some lovely slopes which could have been excellent with better piste management.

Huge ski area and well run.
Feb 2020
One of the best ski areas in Austria, which makes it one of the best anywhere. Good links, updated lifts and a great variety of runs.

Breathtaking in many ways
Feb 2020 • Couples
Quite the most wonderful place for a beginner (and beyond) ski holiday. Slopes are fantastic, I can speak for blue runs at least. Some people can be overly enthusiastic with queuing (pushing in) but in the main people are very friendly and respectful towards learners. I could not recommend any more highly.

ski trip in soll
Jan 2020 • Couples
While spending three days skiing in soll there wasn't any snow fall but luckily due to the investment of the ski resort every 100meters you would find a snow machine. Highly recommend for your next ski trip

Great ski resort with lots of investment in good quality lifts and snowmaking facilities. There plenty of reds slopes and a few blue/ black ones as well, there was plenty to keep the 6 of us occupied with out having to do the same run again and again.

Two of the slopes have a camera to record you/group going down the slope, this is free of charge and you just scan your lift pass at the start and it does the rest, download the skyline app to view your video this app also tell you which lifts you've used and then estimates how many kilometres you ski or snowboard that day.

There are a few snow parks 4 i believe, the biggest is in Westendorf with a chairlift that runs to the top and there two big jump at the end of that one, the others are quite small and strangely the one in Söll has a ten seater gondola, which your on for a minute before you need to get of again, it seems most staff are baffled as to why they choose to use a gondola rather then a chair lift as it get really annoying taking skis or snowboards off and on all the time.

There seemed to be good evacuation methods of getting injured skiers of the mountain with special gondolas equipped for stretchers set aside in the station, although I never saw them used in the week i was there, I did see the emergency helicopter land 3 times

There does however need to be a good look at improving the signage of slope as it could be easy to go wrong or miss other connecting slopes, this is probably the biggest annoyance as all they need to do is put big signs up at either side of the slope at the start of each run as when skiing you simply can't read the small round circle ones ,so bare this in mind when later on in the day so you don't get stuck in the wrong place,

I stayed in soll and it was fairly cheap to buy things from the supermarket slightly cheaper to uk prices.
