Our family highly recommends Ellmis Zauberwelt, we had such a fantastic time there. Our 5-year-old daughter was very excited about it and it lived up to expectations.
Parking is easy next to the ski lift and the price for a family (2+2) was 50 Euro (including the lift). The journey up the mountain had some breathtaking views and it was very easy, even with a stroller.
At the top of the mountain, there is a large restaurant with an outdoor area, surrounded by numerous play areas for children. The starting point for Ellmis Zauberwelt is visible 100 m away. We decided to take our one-year-old in a carrier rather than the stroller, so we could do the quest with the eldest, on the red route. However, there were many families taking the longer, stroller friendly route around the forest.
The quest itself was exciting for the children, with plenty of play areas and 'scary' moments. Make sure you pick up the booklet at the start so the children can find the ingredients and colour them in as they go along. The cave is tricky to find, but it's worth it.
Overall, a great day out in a wonderful location. We might be going back next year!

Having completed a 25km ridge walk with our then slightly tired 7 year old - it was amazing to discover how the magic of this attraction could re-energize the young legs. Lots of stuff to see and talk about on the walk within the world and the lake splash surprice was a true hit. Excellent playground where kids can have fun whilst parents can relax at the top bar enjoying both the view of the alos and supervising the playground at the same time. Absolutely worth a visit and even without an additional hike in the area you could easly spend your day here. Best in good weather though.

This area of Austria seems to specialise in free attractions to tempt familes - and this one must be the best by far. There's something for everyone however old. My favourite it was the water fountain designed to get you only a little wet though it looks as though you'll be soaked. Although high season was in only its second day it was crowded from early morning with lots of happy smiling faces. Of course its noisy - kids are having fun. But there's lots for parents too - and the view of the Wilder Kaiser just wonderful

What a treat, me and my companion were surprised by finding this at the top of the mountain, although aimed at kids we as adults have a fabulous time exploring Ellis Zauberwelt.
We were a little freaked out by the creepy voices in the forest saying 'hallo kinder' all the time, and watch out for the surprise massive shooting water spout my companion got absolutely drenched. However her experience on the zip-swing made up for this earlier water incident.
Thinking of refreshments? think again! the coffee was very expensive as was the hot chocolate, however the chocolate mousse was only a euro and I am assured was delicious so stick to that instead!

...but no more interesting for teens. Some of the attractions are pretty "old style" ( like the Kuckuck voices from the speakers in the forrest). Also getting up here is pretty expensive.

Wonderful place to bring two kids, 2 and 5 years old from Atlanta Georgia USA to experience a nature adventure 'playground' at the top of a mountain. Best part - no rides, just good old fashion simple outdoor fun. Educational as well. Both kids are still talking about it a month later - they had a blast !! Would return tomorrow is we could.

Very nice place for families. Lots of well done attractions for children. Impressive how they built the attractions into the landscape and nature. I was delighted to see it was way better than the brochure in the hotel lobby.

We came to Austria to do some light hiking with our two sons, aged 6 and 10. What a treat for them to find this wonderful playground and treasure hunt at the top of the mountain!
We did the treasure hunt in German, don't know if it's available in English, but the signs along the trail were all in German. There's a great terrace at the restaurant overlooking the playground.

From here it was an easy hike to Kaiserwelt Scheffau (another great playground), crossing a field with cows on the way, which was fun, and getting home to Ellmau via the Gondola down to Scheffau and the free bus from there. The buses leave about once every hour so be sure to check the departure times to plan your day (and be sure not to miss the last bus home).

We were there in August. There were no information how to access the Ellmis during construction time. The train is not existing anymore.the construction will be taking place till the end of 2015, so I do not reccomend to go there this time.

Lots of climbing, exploring and splashing water! Our kids between 5 and 10 had lots of fun before the beutiful walk down the hill back to the village. If you dont want to walk you can go back with the train.
