Part of the the Kaiser Welt which offers a good variety of slopes and many ski lifts. Unfortunately I am giving a three star review since the slopes were not maintained properly at all. We be been skiing for many years and we haven’t seen so neglected slopes in term of snow quality comparing to French and Italian alps. Blue Slopes that you couldn’t pass without falling even if you are a good skier. And everyday the same dangerous areas… I would rather avoid next time.

This was an amazing ski holiday. Plenty of different types of runs for various abilities and great places to eat and drink on the hill.

Our instructor Tom was the best, I never laughed so much in my life. He was so good and strict but on a very funny way. We had the best time although the snow was late. Looking forward to go again.

This town is gorgeous.. we visited in the summertime and the weather was gorgeous, the Alps were beautiful and the views from the top of the mountain were breathtaking. Even without snow trekking the mountain to have dinner in the restaurant on top of the mountain is worth it. The cable cart will also take you up if the 2.5hour trek isn't your thing. The village is so peaceful and the people are very friendly. Definitely worth a trip.

Ellmau is a lovely Austrian village. I wish the gondola queuing system was more organised with barrier lines instead of pushing and shoving in one large group. The pistes are lovely and wide and I would return.

Hi, I’ve been Going to Ellmau for umpteen years having skied other European Alp regions. I won’t bore you with the list but this place tops the lot.

20 years ago it was the best kept secret in the Alps. Today it is busy, with slightly worn out hotels that once provided outstanding service and value but now having lived on its quaint reputation is a little so so. but not even half as busy as French concrete jungles. Having said that, you’re here to ski, drink and eat.

Ellmau is nestled between Going and Scheffau in the Tyrol. You are ideally situated here to explore the whole of the linked Skiwelt area. In 90 minutes you can get to Westendorf and a cracking little mountain hut hidden down a tiny track. The Brechhornhaus.

The whole area incorporates Going, Ellmau, Scheffau, Soll, Itter, Hopfgarten, Brixten and Westendorf.

If you’re up for a challenge try the Homerun Circuit. All the Homeruns in one day. It’s a tough one. Leave Going till last run of the day.

A top tip is to do Red 80 and the Black 80 from the top of the Hartkaiser back to Ellmau first thing in the morning. It’s a blast. As leaving it till the end of the day is busy, rutted and in places treacherously icy. The North facing Black 80 is a hospital case after midday even if you’re Franz Klammer on little funny go faster pills!

Enjoy...
